Hey just a quick heads up for anyone wondering why I haven’t been posting: I recently started antidepressants and my life has gone a little upside-down. 

On the positive, antidepressants are really helping me feel less awful and be able to get up in the morning. Yesterday I woke up around 9 with no alarm (which for anyone who knows my sleep life is a miracle of massive proportions) and went on to do SO MANY THINGS that day. I counted, it was fifteen things ranging from going to therapy, cleaning up my dorm room, folding all my clothes, writing an adult email, working on training for my summer job, and communicating with my doctor. Plus some other stuff too.

On the negative, my vision started going blurry so I had to stop them. No more of this particular antidepressant for me, my eyes aren’t happy with it. But at least the blurry vision stopped and hasn’t come back so far. I also woke up around 1 and let me tell you, I’m half an hour into being awake and it s u c k s. I want to go back to bed so badly right now and not wake up for a month. Maybe a year. I’m just exhausted and all I’ve done is eat lunch. 

Everything I did yesterday was on the tail end of coming of my antidepressants. My focus and feeling that my life wasn’t a perpetual shitshow plus the waking up before noon on a regular basis without prompting? that was my life for a week. I want it back. At this point if it came to a decision between frying my eyesight and getting my life back, it would be a very difficult decision. Luckily I don’t have to make it, because there are other antidepressants I can be on!

So yeah. I’m probably going to be posting a lot less if at all for a while while I try to get on a different antidepressant and my brain stabilizes (though make no mistake: when season 2 comes out I will be right there waiting for my SOUL to be DESTROYED by the incredible adventure I know is coming...)

Have you considered: if two elves are married and wear matching adornments on their horns, when they tap their horns together the wedding bands tap together as well!

If the bands are metal I bet they’d make a fun sound--what if the noise of two bands tapping together is a thing? Two elves get married and put decorations on each others horns. To seal the bond, they preform this greeting! The sound depends on the type of band you get, the chosen metal, and the crafting. When the bands meet and the sound is created, that means it’s time to celebrate!

What if different types of bands signify different types of marriages? Monogamous or polyamorous, arranged, political, romantic, platonic, ect. The sound would vary for each kind.

Legend idea: two elves, deeply in love, are separated by war or families or law. Unable to be apart from one another, they meet secretly. One night they are discovered, and afraid that this will be the last time they ever see each other, they tap their horns together. Even though they have no wedding bands, a ringing chime sounds when they touch, a sound only created when wedded partners meet. After hearing the sound no one could deny their love or the marriage bond, and thus they were together for the rest of their lives.

ahh this is such a cool and adorable theory with so many possibilities... i’m i love with this

headcanon: elf horns are sacred and touching another elf’s horns is very intimate and reserved only for the elf’s s/o so what if elves have a special way of greeting their s/o’s by hugging them and tilting their head in a way so that their horns tap together? it’s kinda hard to visualize so here’s a drawing:

I haven’t seen this image floating around (it’s from an article on the season 2 airdate) but oh man. Claudia looks terrifying in this image! This looks like a pretty powerful spell and she is very intense here... what is she doing? Who is she doing it to??

If you’re worried about how to word a question that’s okay too--sometimes it can be hard to get into the terminology. As long as you approach someone respectfully, openly, and try your best to be understanding, everything should be okay. Learning is a process and that process includes both asking questions and making mistakes. 

Questions are a natural part of questioning!

I feel like a lot of people don’t want to ask questions they have about gender/sexuality to LGBT people because they don’t want to offend them because we talk about cishet people asking stupid or intrusive questions a lot

But actually when you’re questioning it’s really helpful to be able to ask some ‘stupid’ questions although you’re too afraid to

So can y'all LGBTQIA+ people reblog this if you’re totally fine with people asking questions about your gender/sexuality, as long as they do so respectfully

Ezran’s Beastspeech

I saw a gif of Ezran meeting Zym and it prompted this idea. What if Ezran’s ability to talk with animals isn’t actually an ability to talk with animals?

When Ezran was trying to convince the others that the giant spider wasn’t a spider, he specifically talked about the noises the illusion was making. He identified the illusory spider as not a spider based on the sounds--not the fact that he couldn’t talk to it. 

If Ezran’s ability was only to speak with animals, then he would have identified the illusory spider as not a spider very quickly, because he wouldn’t be able to understand a thing it said. After all, I think the noises it made were crafted by Lujane as part of the illusion, and therefore, are not the sounds or ‘words’ animals would use.

I think it’s possible that Ezran doesn’t have a magical ability to talk to animals. Maybe he’s just very, very good with languages. Maybe this comes from magic, maybe it doesn’t. The way Ezran was able to describe exactly why the illusory spider did not sound or communicate like a spider shows that he doesn’t hear the animal’s speech as his own language. What he’s able to do is hear the sounds animals make and understand it as communication.

If this is the case, then what about other languages in the tdp universe? The Moonshadow Elves and all the Humans speak the same language (I wonder if it’s a ‘common’ language) but that doesn’t neccisarily imply that there’s only one language in all of Xadia and the human realms. I’m willing to bet that there are many, many languages. 

If Ezran has an ability to piece together the languages of animals--multiple different kinds of languages, it seems--then how would he be with humanoid languages? My guess is very skilled.

As a King, Ezran being able to speak the language of visitors and dignataries from all across the world would be a very useful skill, especially as a diplomat. For a peacekeeper king, a skill with language is excellent to have.
