you hesitated

pairing: levi ackerman x section commander reader
summary: she never flinched. never froze. until the day she let someone die. now levi wants to know why... and what it means when the most unshakable soldier finally starts to crack.
masterlist
the mission was a disaster.
two squads down, three horses lost, and the sky painted in smoke and crimson. the corpses hadn't even cooled before levi was off his horse, his eyes sweeping the choas like he was counting what was salvageable. he didn't speak until he found her. she was standing over a corpse, blood staining her boots.
"your squad?" he asked, voice clipped.
(name) didn't look at him. "four out of eight made it back."
Levi's eyes drifted to the dead soldier at her feet. not one of hers. someone from Mike's unit, maybe. young. still clutching his blade like he meant to swing it.
"wasn't fast enough?" he muttered.
(name) finally looked at him, eyes sharp but hollow. "I didn't move."
that stopped him cold. levi had fought beside her for years. she was the type to react first, think later... but only because her instincts were always right. she doesn't freeze. she doesn't falter.
but now she was saying...
"you let him die?" he asked, brows twitching.
"I chose not to save him," she corrected, voice low, unreadable.
silence stretched. the wind rustled broken grass. behind her, someone screamed for help.
Levi's jaw clenched. "why?"
(name) turned her head, finally facing him fully. there was no fear. just tired honesty.
"because if I went in, I wouldn't have come back."
that shouldn't have surprised him. it didn't. not really. but hearing it like that... so plainly, so easily.... it stung in a way he couldn't explain.
"I thought you were the kind who didn't hesitate."
she shrugged. "turns out I'm the kind who knows when it's a losing game."
he studied her. the quiet cold in her eyes, the blood on her hands, the slight tremor in her shoulders that she was trying to hide. not fear. fatigue.
"I would've gone," he said quietly.
(name) scoffed. "that's why erwin makes you the symbol of hope. me? I just make sure we don't lose more than we already have."
levi didn't argue. couldn't. because as much as he hated it, part of him respected it. her unflinching logic, her brutal clarity.
but something in his chest twisted when he looked at her now. maybe because he finally saw the line she'd drawn between the two of them... and how long she'd been willing to stand on the cold side of it.
"....you did the right thing," he muttered.
(name) blinked, caught off guard.
"but if you ever freeze like that when it's my life on the line," he added, looking up at her under his lashes, "I'll come back and haunt your ass."
that earned the faintest twitch of a smirk.
"no promises," she said.
set weeks before the failed expidition.
the sun sat low over the walls, casting a warm glow across the barracks courtyard. most soldiers had turned in for the evening, save for two figures still standing near the armory... levi and (name).
she leaned casually against the stone walls, arms crossed, her uniform jacket slung over one shoulder like she had all the time in the world.
"you always this dramatic when you clean your blades," she teased, nodding to the way levi was meticulously wiping his odm gear like it had offended him.
he didn't look up. "you always this annoying when I'm trying to work?"
she smirked. "only when I'm bored. or when I know it'll bother you."
"tch..." he glanced up now, but his expression barely shifted, just the faintest quirk in his brow, that tiny tic that meant she was getting to him.
"mike says you clean your gear the same way you clean your wounds. brutally. without blinking," she pushed herself off the wall, stepping closer, a sly look in her eye. "is that true, captain?"
Levi's eyes flicked to her, and for a second, his mouth opened like he might shoot something back, but he then went silent. she could see his gaze trail down, then sharply back up.
"you wanna test that theory?" he asked dryly, and the way he said it made her stomach twist.
(name) grinned, full and cocky. "flirting, levi? didn't think you had it in you."
"don't flatter yourself," he muttered, though there was no bite in his tone, just low amusement.
she was close now. too close, maybe. but neither of them moved. there was something in the silence that felt heavier than the air.
then, unexpectedly, levi handed her a cloth.
(name) raised her brow. "what's this?"
"you're bored, right? clean your own damn gear."
she laughed, actually laughed, and took the cloth. "wow. romance really is alive."
"don't make me regret not punching you."
but he didn't walk away. he stayed beside her, shoulder just brushing hers as the two of them stood there in the golden wash of evening light, quietly wiping down metal and pretending that this wasn't something.
that it didn't mean something.
(name) didn't talk much after that. but before she parted ways, levi said one thing... just as she turned to leave.
"...you ever freeze out there, I'll be the one dragging your body back."
she turned, surprised. "confident I'd die?"
he met her eyes. "confident I'd go after you."
(name) didn't smile this time. just nodded once and that was the first and only time levi ever admitted something without actually saying it.
the mission was over. the bodies were burning.
smoke curled into the night sky like a prayer no one believed in anymore.
levi found her by the edge of the ruins, perched on a collapsed stone wall. she was hunched forward slightly, forearms resting on her knees, eyes locked on the flames. her squad, what was left of it, had turned in. no one dared approached her. not after the look she wore.
but levi did.
he stepped up beside her without a word, his boots crunching the gravel. (name) didn't look up.
for a moment, there was only the crackle of fire.
"....you remember that evening in the yard?" he asked suddenly.
she blinked. "when you handed me a cleaning rag and called it a date?"
"tch..." he stared at the flame. "didn't say it was a date."
she allowed a small smirk. "sure felt like one."
silence again. but not tense... just heavy.
"I meant what I said that day," he muttered.
(name) glanced sideways, catching the way his jaw shifted.
"that you'd drag my body back?" she asked.
"that I'd go after you," he paused, then added, "and that you better not freeze."
she sighed. "and yet, here we are."
he didn't respond right away. then:
"...you didn't freeze because you were scared. you made a choice. a shitty one. but the right one."
she looked away. "doesn't feel right."
"it's not suppose to."
his voice was quiet. honest. no judgement in it this time, just understanding. the kind that only came from someone who's made decisions just like hers. left people behind. lived with it.
she didn't expect it to sting so much.
"I can take everyone else thinking I'm heartless," (name) murmured. "but you?"
levi turned then, really turned, and looked at her. the firelight flickered in his eyes.
"I don't think you're heartless," a pause. "I think you carry it differently."
she met his gaze, and for once, there was no smirk on her lips. just silence.
he stepped closer, his voice barely above the crackle of flame.
"you draw that line to protect yourself. but don't draw it between us."
that hit deeper than she expected.
she dropped her gaze. "I don't know how to."
he exhaled softly. then, in a rare gesture, levi knelt in front of her, resting a hand on her knee. just grounding. real. human.
"then let me meet you halfway."
her breath caught. and for once, she didn't say anything clever.
because there was nothing to say. not when someone like levi ackerman said something like that.
(name) just nodded and stayed still, letting the silence settle between them like a fragile peace.

A hundred kisses
Character: Levi Ackerman
Tags: fluff, implied relationship with reader, canon verse.
A/N: I have been gone too long, work is sucking the life out of me 😭Tip of the day: Do not become important at work, is not worth it. (? Anyways, hope you enjoy this little thing I got out of my brain while wishing I was loving Levi Ackerman instead of managing a team lol. Thank you for reading!

The gliding of his pen over the paper is the only sound in Levi's office. He's been reading and signing papers for hours, eyebrows furrowed and shoulders tense. Outside, the cadets continued with their training, nothing out of the ordinary. You made your way inside his office, a new stack of papers in hand.
"Hello there, may I come in" You say even though you've already opened the door and stepped inside. Levi just stopped writing, looking at you from beneath his eyelashes, not bothering in lifting his head.
"You're already inside" He mumbled unamused.
With a grin, you stepped forward and placed the papers on his desk. "Erwin wants you to check these as well, he says they're top priority"
Levi glanced at the stack of papers and rolled his eyes. "When everything is top priority, nothing really is" That's all he says before turning back to the paper in front of him.
"Look at you, being the philosopher of the century!" You tease, pulling a chair across him and sitting down. "Have you had lunch yet?" You question, noticing his dry lips.
"Not hungry" He says uninterested, not even looking at you.
"Really? Because the new rations just arrived and everyone is having a feast..." Your voice sounds sarcastic yet enthusiastic. Levi puts his pen down and finally looks your way.
"Like I said, I'm not hungry. When I feel like I need to eat something, I'll go grab something." His voice is curt and dry. If you didn't know better, you'd think he's about to kick you out.
"Then what about taking a break? The weather outside is lovely..." This time he doesn't even acknowledge your comment, focusing only on signing documents. You get up from your seat and sigh, clearly ticked by his demeanor.
"Are you still upset because I didn't kiss you goodnight last night?" You mention casually.
"Seems like you were too tired to even do that, right?" He says back, there is no bite in his words, instead he sounds offended, something that makes you hold back a laugh.
"Levi, I didn't mean to do that! You know I love to kiss you goodnight and will always do it! I just happened to fall asleep before you came back from your meeting with Erwin" As you explained yourself, he huffed and rolled his eyes as if your explanation was the most absurd thing he's ever heard. "Besides, you could've kissed me even if I was asleep." You add with a shrug.
"What do you think I am? A creep?" He retorts, clearly offended by the suggestion.
"No, you're not a creep for kissing your sleeping wife goodnight" You answer and giggle a little.
"No, don't touch me" He says pretending to be offended as you try to wrap your arms around him.
"Come on Levi, don't be so stubborn" You're still chuckling as you hug him, his childish demeanor still amusing to you after all these years.
"It's not like we get to kiss goodnight every day, that is why I was so heartbroken that you fell asleep before I could kiss you" He says in almost a whisper and you could swear you saw a ghost of a pout on his lips.
"I know Levi, and I already told you I'm sorry, didn't I? I even kissed you twice this morning to repair the damage" Even without looking at you he can tell you're still smiling, his eyebrows furrowing even more.
"That doesn't compensate it" He says, still fixed on the missing kiss.
You pull away far enough to look at him and cup his face with both hands, he pretends to be annoyed but does nothing to pull away from your hold.
"Then? Should I kiss you a 100 times to repair my oh so awful mistake?" You ask with a dramatic voice.
"Yeah, for starters you could do that..." He replies and can't hide the smirk that spreads across his lips at his bratty request.
You let out a hearty laugh, his cheeks turn pink as you start to map his face with small kisses. "Okay, but you count" You say with a grin.
"One.... One.... One" Levi's voice is soft and tender, something nobody would ever believe if they heard, good thing is nobody besides you will ever listen to it.

This is one of my favorite Levi frames, but the background is so busy it's hard to appreciate the absolute BEAUTY. So I made a version with a blurred background :)

Love is a drug
Levi x flirty, hospitalised F!Reader [ Veryyyyyy short One shot ] Summary: You're pretty badly injured from a mission, Levi visits you. sfw. Not an established relationship, but clearly some things have happened. Unresolved feelings.
You wake up in a bed somewhere, covered in bandages, the smell of blood and alcohol fills your nose, a bowl of red water near you with someone squeezing a stained towel above it. The room is so dark with candles keeping you from seeing the entirety of the room.
Memories of smoke, sunlight, cries and battle screams, white and silver, titans. You jump up from the bed, scaring the person in the room and almost knocking over the large bowl.
“What…what the hell am I doing here? What happened.” Your throat is so dry.
“You’re alright, just please calm down-” someone says, but you feel so dizzy, and you crash back down in bed.
Light pours in through the curtains. You slowly open your eyes; cloth and the dryness of your skin are the first things you feel. You can’t sense the other presence in the room. Your body aches and it feels like you’ve been ripped apart, wrongly stitched back together.
“Hey.” Levi.
“What-” Your voice is raspy and dry.
“You did something really stupid, and now you're here.”
Oh…right I did do something stupid, didn’t it?
“Yeah, I remember. Saved your ass though.” You yawn, a hint of normalcy among the confusion.
“Tch, you wouldn’t have been much use to me dead, I would probably have been worse off even.” His mouth slanted downwards.
“Are you saying you wouldn’t know what to do without me around? Wouldn’t have anyone to kiss and feel huh.” You giggle, absentmindedly speaking while examining the damage done to your body.
He flinches, and you notice.
A light blush on the side of your cheeks, whilst his ears are way too red to not be a medical problem.
“Maybe next time I will let you get killed. It’ll teach you a lesson about being less stupid.” He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms, staring out the window.
“Yeah, ok. Is that all you came to say.” You huff, embarrassed at the heat you know he can see on your face.
Since when have I started to get flustered with him or with anyone I mindlessly flirt with like this?
Levi recaps what the doctor had said about your injuries, some internal bleeding and cuts that have scabbed well already, two broken ribs. Nothing you haven't experienced before.
“For how long will I be lucky that this is the extent of the damage I take?” You mumble.
Levi pauses, stares at you, focused on every flex of your jaw and facial muscle.
“Not long if you pull the same reckless shit.” He monotonously answers a question you were clearly only asking yourself.
You suddenly look up and hold his stare, and he almost loses his breath at the way your face melts into what looks like exhaustion, resignation, and serenity.
Your head is tilted to the side, your lips tugged up, eyes lazily kept open, the faint blush of your cheeks still visible.
Your pupils are so dilated even with the amount of sunlight in the room.
He swallows hard.
“Why are-” He clears his throat like it will clear his mind. “Why are your pupils so blown out?”
Suddenly, your face seems, somehow, more embarrassed than earlier.
What the hell, why do I feel ashamed that they are?
“Oh…um they probably gave me morphine for the pain,” You lift your arms up at the height of your shoulders and wince, clearly its excruciating. Quickly, you lower your arms and your hands cover your face.
They didn’t give you morphine. Levi knows this. You might too.

ʟɪᴘꜱᴛɪᴄᴋ ᴄᴏɴꜰᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴꜱ
levi ackerman x fem!reader warnings: none :) an: finally some levi fluff hehe~ i saw a fic like this a long time ago and decided to recreate it 😊

You stood near Levi’s desk, arms crossed and a teasing smirk on your lips as he finished adjusting the straps on his gear. The early morning light poured in through the window behind him, casting his office in an amber glow—warm enough to soften even the infamous scowl on his face.
“You’re triple-checking your harness like a rookie,” you said lightly.
“I don’t intend on dying because of a loose strap, brat.”
“You don’t intend on dying, period,” you corrected, walking over and gently pulling his cravat tighter around his neck. “Besides, you’ve got someone to come back to now.”
Levi’s eyes flickered up to meet yours. That intensity—the one only you ever got to see soften.
“I don’t need a reminder,” he said lowly.
You didn’t break eye contact. Instead, your fingers trailed from his cravat up to his cheek. His hands instinctively found your waist, steadying you, grounding both of you in that rare and quiet intimacy that existed only behind closed doors.
He glanced at you sideways. “What are you doing?”
“This,” you whispered, and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
He sighed, as if he were already exhausted by your antics—but you didn’t miss the way his fingers flexed at his side.
“Are we really doing this right now?”
“Mmhmm,” you murmured, lips grazing his jaw. “Before you go risking your life, I think you deserve a proper goodbye.”
Another kiss—lower this time, brushing the underside of his jaw.
Then one near his ear.
Then one just above his collarbone.
He shifted slightly, but still didn’t stop you. Maybe he didn’t want to.
“Don’t get carried away,” he muttered.
“You love it.”
“You’re leaving marks.”
You leaned in and said sweetly, “I'm not.”
Another kiss, slow and possessive, right at the side of his throat.
Levi let out a breath through his nose and fastened his cravat lazily over it. “You done?”
You tapped your chin in thought, then kissed his mouth once—quick and warm.
“Now I’m done.”
He adjusted his jacket, grabbed his gloves—but didn’t notice the trail of lipstick evidence decorating his pale skin.
You, of course, stayed completely quiet.
As he stepped toward the door, he glanced at you once more, his tone softer now.
“Try not to miss me too much.”
You gave a slow, coy smile. “Too late.”
---
The morning chill hadn’t yet burned off. The squad stood in a loose circle near the horses, the kind of barely-coordinated gathering that usually only happened when Levi hadn’t arrived yet.
Eren was yawning. Jean was pacing. Mikasa was already fully prepared and silently judging everyone else.
“Where the hell is he?” Jean muttered, shifting his weight. “Captain’s never late.”
“Maybe he’s sick,” Connie said, brows raised. “Or like, sleeping in.”
“Maybe a Titan ate him,” Sasha added helpfully, chewing on a hunk of bread.
Mikasa didn’t say anything, but her eyes were on the HQ building like a hawk.
Then—footsteps.
Levi emerged from HQ, striding toward them with his usual quiet confidence. Scouts jacket. Bladed gear. Blank expression. Standard-issue everything—
Except the very obvious lipstick mark on his left cheek.
And the one half-hidden under his jawline.
And the faint pink blur at the base of his neck, slightly covered by his scarf but still peeking out.
He didn’t notice.
But they did.
Hange blinked once.
Sasha choked on her bite.
Armin visibly froze, as if trying to compute a math equation that broke physics.
Jean stepped back like he’d seen a ghost.
“...What the fuck is that?” Jean muttered. “Does anyone else—? Am I losing it?”
“Wait—waitwaitwait,” Connie gasped, grabbing Armin’s arm. “Look at his face. Look at his face.”
“I am looking at his face,” Armin whispered. “There’s lipstick. There’s definitely lipstick.”
One mark near the edge of his jawline.
Another just under his ear.
A third on the side of his neck.
A faint smear on his collarbone, barely hidden by the cravat.
Hange turned, took one look at Levi, and let out a loud, delighted cackle. “HOLY SHIT.”
“Are those—?” Sasha started.
“Lipstick,” Mikasa confirmed, arms crossed.
Jean took a step back like he’d seen a ghost. “Who the hell kissed Levi Ackerman?”
Eren squinted. “That… that can’t be real. That’s Levi. He doesn’t—he doesn’t do kissing.”
“LOOK AT HIS FACE!” Jean barked, pointing. “Someone full-on made out with him before he got here!”
Moblit looked like he was glitching. “Did we enter a parallel universe?”
Levi stopped walking. His expression was blank, jaw tight, but he could feel all eight of them staring holes through him.
He considered just mounting his horse and leaving without a word.
But no.
Too late now.
“What,” he said flatly, “are you all gawking at?”
“Captain,” Armin started delicately, “you… seem to be wearing… um…”
“Several very vibrant statements of affection,” Hange supplied. “In Rich Rosewood. Excellent shade, by the way.”
Levi glared. “Tch. It’s none of your business.”
“You’re covered in it,” Sasha said, voice an octave too high. “It’s everybody’s business now.”
“You’ve got kisses all over your damn face,” eren said, incredulous.
Levi frowned. “I do not.”
Mikasa reached into her pocket and whipped out a tiny compact mirror. “Check the evidence, sir.”
He looked into it.
Pause.
A longer pause.
His expression didn’t change—but his eyes did.
“…Shit.”
Connie exploded. “WHO KISSED YOU?!”
“No way this was just one kiss,” Sasha breathed. “This was like—a storm.”
Armin looked genuinely distressed. “Captain, are you in a relationship? Like—a real one?”
Hange’s grin stretched ear to ear. “Oh my god, it makes so much sense. You've been disappearing more. Staying late in meetings that mysteriously don’t involve any of us. That mysterious bruise on your neck last month. The weird good mood. This is huge.”
Levi adjusted his cravat again, this time higher, but it was far too late.
He considered lying. Brushing it off.
He sighed.
“I’m seeing someone,” he said, voice sharp as steel.
Sasha screamed.
Connie dropped to his knees. “THE WORLD ISN’T REAL.”
Jean’s eyes narrowed. “Wait. Wait, wait. Who is it? Who could it possibly be?”
“It’s not your concern,” Levi said calmly, starting toward his horse.
“It absolutely is our concern!” Jean cried. “We’re invested now!”
“Are they in the Corps?” Armin asked, trying to keep the tone respectful. “You can just say yes or no. Blink twice.”
“No,” Levi replied. “But yes.”
Moblit whispered, “What does that even mean?”
“Are they hot?” connie asked.
Levi didn’t answer.
“Oh my god,” Hange murmured, looking skyward. “It’s y/n, isn’t it?”
Levi froze mid-step.
And that silence said everything.
Eren howled. “YOU’RE DATING HER?! SHE’S LIKE—THE COOLEST PERSON IN THE ENTIRE BRANCH!”
“She could punch all of us and I’d say thank you,” Sasha added.
Jean shook his head slowly. “I didn’t even think you liked people.”
“I don’t,” Levi muttered. “She’s an exception.”
Mikasa was quiet, but the smallest, faintest smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. “She makes sense for you.”
Levi mounted his horse without further commentary.
Everyone watched him like he was a newly crowned deity.
“When did this happen?” Armin asked.
“None of your damn business.”
“Do you love her?” Sasha blurted.
Levi paused. “Irrelevant.”
“OH MY GOD YOU LOVE HER,” Jean screamed.
“Like. Deep,” Sasha whispered.
“You guys gonna get married or—?” Connie started.
“Enough,” Levi barked. “Anyone who brings this up on the mission gets left in the forest.”
Hange sang out. “This is the best day of my life.”
“Shut up.”
“You can’t stop us,” Connie said proudly. “This is the tea of the year.”
“Connie,” Levi deadpanned, “do you want a concussion?” "But you gotta admit captain, you're down bad." Eren said, smirking.
Levi turned around. But from the way his shoulders tensed ever so slightly, the answer was clear.
And he still didn’t wipe off the lipstick.

Burning Faith
Part 3 (its short, sorry)
In which Levi saves a girl from the flames and starts to wonderTelling Elisabeth everything the lead to the disappearing of the titans wasnt an easy task for Levi. He left the personal details to the side and gave her a smaller report about how they found out that there had been another nation sending the Titans to destroy paradis, how they fought the rumbling and that the world was a different right now.
Elisabeth listend silently, her eyes never leaving his. As he finished she took a deep breath "so the walls are gone? And so are the titans?" She asked and Levi nod. "Mind telling me, how you didnt know all this and still ended up in a house that was located outside the walls?" Levi asked. This question was burning in his mind since the moment he found her.
Elusabeths hands started to shake "my family, we had to leave the walls when it wasnt save for us anymore" she said. So she wasnt alone in that house.... Levi thought. "How was the outside of the walls saver than a life inside?!" He asked confused.
It took a moment for Elisabeth to think about an answer. She wasnt sure if she could tell him but she owned him that much since he saved her. "My Family... people didnt like us. There is a rumor, that we possess special powers, that were connected to the founder Ymir.... when they killed a big part of my family, my uncle took me and my grandmother with him, she he could save us. Only female Schwarz Family member possess this power, according to the rumor" she said honestly. She watched his reaction closely. Levi seames collected and calm as she talked.
After a moment he asked "what kind of power?"
"The rumor said that we were connected to the paths, Schwarz Family members could see visions of the paths, even see Eldians that died a long time ago." Elisabet whispered, her hands shaking even more.
Levis eyes twitched, most people wouldnt have noticed but she did. A flicker of suprise in his stoic facade for only a millisecond.
"And is that true?" He asked as he sipped his, now lukewarm, tea.
Elisabeth swollowed hard than she nod "Yes, i had these Visions before, alot during the time the ground shock, less nowadays"
"Interesting," Levi said coldly. He wasn't sure what to do with that information just yet. "You are safe here, no one will dare come close to you," he said before he got up, making his way to the kitchen. Before disappearing, he stopped in his tracks and turned to her. "You should rest some more, your body needs the strength to recover," he said gently before joining Mikasa in the kitchen, leaving Elisabeth behind.

Burning Faith
Part 2
In which Levi saves a girl from the flames
Levi couldn't find sleep that night, too many thoughs went through his head. Not long ago he was wreaked up in bandages, living with real pain all over his body. Now all that was left was the pain inside. The thought back to the times with Erwin, Hanji and even Petra.
The times where humanity wanted to break out of its bird cage behind the wall were over. Now that the walls were gone and the cage was open Paradis was a new place. Erens rumbling did not destroy any part of his beloved home, yet it fell like a whole new world.
People from different countries were slowly coming to explore the Island, new technology was brought to them, yet Levi couldn't take all this.
For so many years he believed that there was no other humanity besides the people inside the walls but now there were so many more out there that he needed time to process all this.
What were they thinking what the world wold look like behind the walls?
Getting himself a tea, he took a deep breath. He stepped outside just to see the sun rising. Now he didn't need to try to find sleep at all.
He stretched his sore body before he decided to clean the room the girl was resting in. Cleaning was still the only thing he had in control in this crazy new world after all.
Levi threw on his linen cloths, got his utensils and started his work.
Cleaning gave him control over his life and wiped all the thoughs put of his mind. For some odd reason he wanted his guest to feel welcome, to have a place where she could get better, not like the places he had to heal his wounds.
A part of him wanted to impress her, a part of him wanted to show off that he still was a good Captain and person inside even if he saw and did horrible things in his life.
He was no where to be proud of the things they achieved. Yes the titans were gone, but it cost many more life's than the titans ever took.
The sun was up high as he finished the room. He did a deep clean to escape his thoughs. Now he was tired and exhausted.
He took the chair from the small working table in the corner of the room and placed it near the bed where the girl was still unconscious.
He didn't wanted her to wake up all alone in an unknown room, even tho he was as well an unknown person to her.
He watched her breath slow but steady. Levi watched her, that was all he did. He was confused by his interest in this girl. He didn't want someone new in his life, that he could potentially lose again. With this thought he slowly drifted off to sleep, sitting in the chair, facing the mysterious girl.
------
Movement in the bed woke Levi from his soft sleep on the chair. He opened his eyes and got blinded by the sunlight that came though the windows. It took his eyes to adjust for a moment until he was the girl, awake in the bed infront of him. Panic was written all over her face, yet she didn't say a word.
"Hey" Levi said softly, his voice a little sleepy "Hey, you are save" He added as the girl looked over towards him. Automatically he handed her a Glas of water, Mikasa must have left here when he was sleeping
"Thank you" she whispered as she drank a little and handed him the Glas back.
"Where am I?!" She asked searching Levi's face as if she was testing if he was trustworthy
"You are in our house" He said and placed the Glas back on the nightstand.
She took a look around, nervously. And suddenly she winced in pain. Levi looked down to her hands that were covered in Burnmarks. She must have tried to play with her hands as she was fighting her nervousness.
In disbelieve she looked at her hands and arms and even before she could ask what happened Levi took the chance to explain.
"We found you in the woods. You've been laying infront of a burning house. You were unconscious so we didn't have another choice than brining you here" Levi looked at her. The girl looked at her hands, lost in thoughts
I probably look the same when I lose it the Captain thought.
After a moment of silence she looked up again and whispered a thank you. In the same moment a soft knock on the door interrupted her. Black hair and a friendly face showed up.
"I knew I heard voices" Mikasa smiled
"Welcom back, I hope Levi didn't scare you when you woke up"
Mikasa seamed friendly and happy in that moment, a view Levi didn't see since the day Eren died.
"I am Mikasa" she smiled and the girl smiled back.
"I am Elisabeth" her voice was stronger "Thank you for saving me, it is nice to meet you" her eyes wandered from Mikasa to Levi and stayed at him for a little longer.
Mikasa took care of Elisabet and Levi decided to take cooking in his hands that day. It was already early evening when Mikasa came downstairs with Elisabeth on her arm. She had changed in some cloths from Mikasa, only the shirt was not from her, it was one of his.
"I hope it's okay, I gave here a shirt of yours, mine didn't fit as good as yours" Mikasa said on pointed to her torso. Levi looked over to the girl, before he understood what his cousin ment. He blushed and looked away quickly.
She was about Levi's hight and about Mikasas clothing size, only her female features were more grown than hers.
"Yeah it's fine" He nood and checked the soup he was cooking "I hope you are hungry" He smiled over his shoulder
Elisabeth blushed slightly and nod. She has been watching Levi since she came downstairs, something about him was fascinating her.
Mikasa got plates out as Levi checked the water for his tea
"Can I help you?" Elisabeth asked, feeling useless.
"No worries" both Mikasa and Levi answers simultaneously. Elisabet couldn't help but laugh. "You guys really are Family, right?" She asked and Levi shot Mikasa a side eye. The dark Haird girl smiled "Yup" and ruffled Levi's hair. He just made a clicking noise with his tongue and got out a cup for his tea.
"You want some, Elisabeth?" He asked without looking at her
"OH, yes, that would be nice" she said shyly.
As Mikasa and Levi joined the table with food and tea, Elisabet thanked them again.
"I hope you like the tea" Levi said. It was a bit embarrassing for him to serve someone else tea. No one ever liked the tea the way he drank it. Even in his times as Captain he couldn't afford milk or sugar and now as a soldier without a war he was happy when he could afford plain tea at all.
"I really like it that way, we never hard much so I like plain tea the best, since it was the only kind of tea we ever had" she smiled, a true deep smile. And Levi liked it, she didn't smile to make him feel better about his plain tea, she smiled at him, cause she was really thankful for that simple hot drink.
Levi smiled back and lifted his teacup the usual way. His fingertips surrounded the rip of the cup and lifted it to his lips.
Elisabeth watched him carefully. The boy I front of her was odd in many ways, but in good ways. He seamed simple at first but the more time she spent with him she was facinated by him.
After the dinner Mikasa cleaned the dishes and so Elisabeth and Levi were left alone. Levi sipped on his second cup of tea, lost in thoughs as Elisabet softly spoke "May I ask you something?"
Levi rose an eyebrow "go ahead"
"You've been a soldier, right?" She asked almost shy and Levi nod.
"Can you tell me what happend to the Titans?" She asked and Mikasas head turned to them from the sink.
She did not know what happened at all?
Levi thought and took a deep breath, how did he explain her all that happend durbing the war?!

Burning Faith
In which Levi Ackerman saves a girl from the Fire.
>>just tell me what you think<<
The world seamed different. Levi took a deep breath as he rode his horse through an endless green field. Where once where the walls that protected humanity from the titans now only pieces of stone were left. Since he was back from Marley he was unsure what to do with his life. Was he still a captain, even tho there were no Corps left, no expeditions to lead nor fights to fight against humanoids.
Mikasa, the only remaining close person to him, forced him out every now and then to pull him out of his depressive thoughts.
The sun was setting as Mikasa smelled a burned smell in the air.
"Hey, Levi!" Mikasa pulled her horse next to Levi's. Levi was pulled out of his thoughts and looked his cousin deep in the eyes, not able to remember what she just said.
"Sorry!" He murmured.
"There must be a fire near by" the dark haired girl repeated herself.
In the moment Levi smelled it too, he looked to the side just to see light from a fire coming through a deep row of trees.
The Captain pulled his horse to the side immediately to go where the light came from.
It took them two only a short among of time to reach the source of the burning smell.
There was a small house, right in front of them, burning to its ground.
With some distance Levi got off his horse and secured it by a tree before taking a closer look to the house. He wondered since when such a house was built so far away from the wall rose, even tho the walls were gone.
Just as he reached the front of the house he saw something that got his heart beating faster.
"MIKASA! OVER HERE!" He screamed as he ran toward the house.
There was a girl, laying in front of the house. Mikasa joined him quickly. It took them both a moment to push the collar of their jackets above their nose before they could get the girl. Levi picked her up and carried her back towards their horses.
Mikasa placed her jacket down, as they reached the horses, to place the girl on it.
In the old manner, Levi dusted off his cloths. He hated the dirt and the smell of fire. Too many Times he had to smell it as the heat of the titans burned grass, trees, houses and even human flesh.
Lost in thoughts for a moment he watched Mikasa as she took a close look. It wasn't a girl, Levi realised, it was a woman, probably slightly younger than himself.
"Is she okay?" The Captain asked carefully. He had seen too many dead people in the 30 years of his life.
"She is breathing, only her hands and arms are burned." Mikasa looked up to Levi, who was happy to hear that they could save someone after months of dead and misery. "She will be okay" she added with a soft smile.
After a little break and making sure that no one else was around the house they decided to take the girl to their little house not too far away.
Levi got the still unconscious girl onto his horse and held here all the way to their little base. This all felt like a blurred dream to him. It felt so surreal, holding a woman he didnt know, burnt and hurt.
It was a simple house with simple furniture, not too many rooms and a small kitchen. Levi was the one cleaning it, and Mikasa took care of their food.
Both were a little lost after the rumbling and all that it brought with it. So they both decided to do what they were best in and explore the land they were born in, just without all the titans.
That they now found someone who needed their help was something both of them reminded them of old times, where they were responsible for their companions and all the people of paradise.
Once they arrived at their house, Levi carried the girl into a spare room he just cleaned two days ago. He placed her in the bed, under the covers and took a closer look of the girl in front of him.
He was so focused and full of adrenaline earlier that he didn't take in her soft features.
She had an almost peaceful expression on her face, even tho she had a couple of burning marks in her cheeks, arms and hands. Her long blond hair were dirty from the grime and smoke of the fire. He got a little lost, watching the girl, as Mikasa pulled him back from this thoughs once again. She had a first aid kit in her hands to take care of the girl... the girl that confused Levi in more ways than one

Who else loves a jealous Levi?
He has an almost curious look in his eyes as he turns to face you.
You frown.
“What?”
He doesn’t answer but leans closer. You can feel his sweet breath on the sensitive skin of your throat as he bends down slightly, eyes a little glossy and half-lidded. You don’t dare move a muscle, as if you’re scared that he’ll suddenly pull away.
But he doesn’t.
Instead, he breathes in deeply – you can’t hear it for your heart thundering in your ears – but you can see his chest rise and fall, his long lashes fluttering as he takes in your scent.
Your lips part in a small, involuntary gasp, which seems to snap him out of it. He jerks away, eyes again sharp and clear as he seats himself at a respectable distance. The air feels oddly cold around you without his presence.
You take a deep breath, your fingers curling around the hems of your sleeves to prevent them from shaking.
“Your hair’s getting long,” Levi says, casual, like he didn’t just almost give you a heart attack.
Bastard.
“Yeah, you’re right,” you say, shrugging, like you’re completely unaffected by what just happened. “I’ll ask Reiner to cut it for me later this week.”
Levi’s eyes turn hard, jaw clenching and fingers digging into the wood below, leaving crescent-shaped indents behind. He pulls even further away from you.
“And why does he have to do that?” he grits out, eye twitching.
You merely raise an eyebrow at him. You don’t get his mood swings this evening – usually, Levi is so composed that it feels like talking to a brick wall. But tonight, he seems…on edge. Twitchy. A bit restless.
“Because I suck at doing it myself,” you answer cooly. “Do you know how to cut hair?”
“Of course.”
His answer takes you by surprise. You eye his perfectly trimmed undercut with suspicion. The way the longer locks on top falls neatly over the short buzz towards his nape.
Surely, he doesn't cut his own hair.
“You cut your own hair?” you ask, brows raised.
“Well, who else?”
“I dunno…Hange?” you suggest.
“As if I’d let them anywhere near my head with a pair of scissors,” he scoffs.
The notion makes a small laugh spill from your lips. Levi’s eyes widen, the hard edges of his face softening as he takes you in.
Silence stretches between you again, but comfortable this time.
Suddenly, you feel something cool brush over your pinkie. Reflexively, you jerk your hand away, but then you hear Levi’s sharp intake of breath beside you. You glance over at him, but he isn’t looking at you. His side-profile is lit up from behind by the rising moon, parts of his face almost glowing in the pale light, while other parts lie in deep shadow. You can see his jaw working, Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he gulps, eyebrows curled into a frown. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he was…nervous. But you also know that that’s preposterous. Levi doesn’t get nervous.
But then, your gaze shifts down, down, down, until it rests on your hands.
And that’s when you see it. Levi’s slightly twitching fingers are resting close to where your hand had been only moments before – before you’d moved it.
You understand.
Slowly, you let your hand fall back and brush your fingers against his. You more feel rather than hear Levi letting out a sigh of relief and then, he moves his hand to place it above your own.
And so, you sit like that for the remainder of the time you have left before curfew starts.
