Walking into her apartment, he slipped off his boots at the entrance before slowly wandering into the living room area with her. He felt extremely awkward and wished he knew Haesoo a bit better than he did.
“Thank you,” he quickly replied with a slightly bow as she handed him blankets. The floor was already warm under his feet from the heated floor system the apartment complex had. “I think these will be good thank you,” he simply replied, flashing her a wide smile as he went to set up the sheets on the couch.
“Could I get a glass of water? I know you said I could get it but I feel like it’d be weird if I went through your cabinets.” He rubbed awkwardly at the nape of his neck, “Also, uh- since we don’t really know each other could we talk for a few minutes? We’re neighbors but we don’t even know each other.” He hoped he didn’t sound weird asking for her time. It was late and he understood if she declined, he just figured it would be a good time to get to know his floor-mate, especially since he was awkwardly staying at her place.
“Oh,” Haesoo was taken by surprise from his sudden request. That was something she wasn’t expecting. She could feel the fatigue slowly eating her body away, but the way he had asked was too polite and sweet for her to turn down. In all honesty, she didn’t mind taking moment to just talk either. It had been a while since she had a decent conversation with another person other than just answering questions about books and ordering her morning tea.
“Yeah, that actually sounds great right now,” Haesoo smiled. “Let me grab you a cup first”
She hastily filled a fresh cup of water from her kitchen and quickly made her way back to the living room. Carefully, she handed the cup to Jaehyun before dropping onto the single couch beside the one he was resting on. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she relished in the feeling of finally being able to let her feet rest.
“You look like you’ve had a long day,” Haesoo prayed that that was a good conversation starter for where they were headed. A part of her was worried though, about how much they would end up talking about. Only because she didn’t want to hurt his feelings once it got to the point that she wanted to stop talking about herself and became harsh to stop the conversation.

Finishing up her late night shift at the hospital, Yoonji was tired. She hated working but she needs to keep the job so it is easy for her to get vile’s of blood to quench their vampiric needs. It was especially easy now that her boss was also a vampire, so he understood what she needed and helped her get what she needed.
Taking off her scrubs she changed into black jeans and a black hoodie. She gathered her other things, putting them into her bag before heading out the towards the back of the building. On her way out her boss wave her a smile with a see you soon, before walking quickly past her and out the door. Soon was an understatement. She left the building as well and headed down towards their usually met up spot, which happened to be down a nearby alleyway. She turned the corner, pulling her hood over head while she waited. Her boss was going to bring her the vile’s she needed that he stored earlier in his car. This was a normal routine for the two now.
Letting out a sigh, she watched her breath accumulate and dissipate in the cold air. Yoonji hated doing this. She hated stealing them herself back in Busan but she also disliked collecting them from her boss. No matter how many years pass, she will never like herself as a vampire. Her desire to be normal and finish her life normally will remain with her for as long as she lingers on earth.
Her boss looked so shady, sporting a trench coat, a big tan hat to match the coat and decently sized bag. The two could sense someone coming but they hoped they wouldn’t turn down the alleyway. Yoonji quickly took the bag and motioned for her boss to go quickly but it was too late. The person turned the corner. She clutched the bag’s handle, peering slightly over her shoulder. A human? Yoonji wasn’t totally sure since she wasn’t good at depicting what species everyone is but she could sense the other was a bit shaken and well, harmless. While she was busy taking in who had showed up her boss disappeared into the shadows of the buildings. Yoonji wanted to as well but she was already spotted so she might as well play it off cool. Turning she walked towards the other, she wanted to keep her mouth shut and walk by like she didn’t even see the girl but she couldn’t help but wonder if she was alright. Maybe something had chased her? Yoonji knew the streets were dangerous but did this girl? She didn’t know. Stopping before the female she asked, “are you, alright? Not many people go cutting through alleyways at this time.”
Haesoo straightened her back when she finally noticed the woman who was walking towards her.
“Are you, alright? Not many people go cutting through alleyways at this time.”
Haesoo almost let out a sigh of relief upon seeing another living being, but that was the thing. With all the thoughts floating in her mind, a part of her was cautious of the woman standing in front of her. This was the first time she ever encountered someone else walking through the alleyways at night, and Haesoo could swear on her life- she of all people would know, that not many people would travel through the alleyways at night. Especially at four in the morning.
“Yeah,” Haesoo offered a polite smile, trying to swallow the lump of anxiety down her throat, “I was let off work early today, that’s all.”
She laughed shakily as she glanced at the end of the street again, seeing that the dark shadow had disappeared. An inaudible sigh left her lips as she looked back at the woman. When she finally took a better look at the woman, she began to feel a little more relaxed. Haesoo was usually pretty good at sensing if a person was dangerous or not, and this woman wasn’t. Yet, there was something picking at the back of her mind, as if telling her there had to be something more considering she was also out at four in the morning.
“I’m just on my way home. You must be too?” Haesoo finally settled on saying, running through the faces she remembered seeing at the complex.

Sherlock { Haesoo & Chrystal }
A quiet sigh left Haesoo’s lips as she stared at her reflection on the elevator doors. It had been a long time since she last hung out with someone, much less had a girl’s day out. One part of her was extremely anxious, and the other extremely excited.
The last time she had really talked to Chrystal was when she had bumped into Haesoo wandering around campus. She wasn’t sure if she was glad that Chrystal had assumed that she was a student and casually talked to her about the classes she was taking until they reached the complex. Haesoo didn’t have to say anything, but she knew that today there would be some spilling sooner or later whether it was big or small.
Chrystal had managed to convince her to set a date for the two of them to hang out and explore the city of Seoul. Haesoo didn’t actually mind, considering that ever since she made the move all her time was spent between the animal shelter and CafeCozy, with the exception of walks around the park. The one thing that Haesoo just really couldn’t grasp her mind around was that she was actually excited to befriend Chrystal, despite how nerve-wracking it seemed.
It wasn’t until she was standing in front of 202 that she realized how unprepared she was. She felt kind of dumb, but she didn’t really remember the steps to making a friend. How did you become friends with someone? All she could do now was pray, and hope that lady luck was on her side.
With a gentle knock against the door, Haesoo made her presence known, “Chrystal? It’s Haesoo.”

After getting a call from them, she immediately took off and hurried left her apartment to meet up them while stuffing the thumb drive deep into her pocket. They were part of a group of hybrids that went around breaking the law and Chaemi didn’t have a choice but to join them because of a foolish decision she made when she was younger. And now, she can’t get out of it. This was one of the only few regrets that she has in her life.
She stuffed her hands into her pocket and briskly walked down the pavement leading from the apartment. Normally, she would be cautious about her surrounding however this time round, it slipped out of her mind because of the call she received. She was certain that whatever that was inside the thumb drive they have given her the previous time was extremely important to them, judging from the tone of the voice of the opposite caller used and so, all she could think of was what could be inside.
Approaching the alleyway she was called to meet up at, she was about to hand over the thumb drive when she realise her pocket was empty. She pat onto every single pocket compartment she had and felt nothing. She swallowed her saliva and slowly looked up at them thinking of how she could break the terrible news to them and also at the same time, mentally prepare herself for the punishment that was coming. However before she could even say anything, she heard a harsh run coming from one of them.
She didn’t have the time to react when one of the members in the gang ran past her with another man in uniform hot on her heels. She was about to run the other direction when she felt a harsh tug on her arm and she was pulled towards the other direction. Every part of her body screamed danger but all she wanted was to get out of that place first. She pulled her hood off her head and stared at the stranger in front of her. She tried to look at her face but the stranger was only looking forward and not turning at all. She didn’t say anything but only to follow behind the stranger.
“Don’t let them see your face,” Haesoo said gruffly under her breath, quickening her pace while tightening her grip on the girls arm.
She shouldn’t have started running. That was absolutely the last thing she should have done. She could have explained herself perfectly fine. Wrong place, wrong time. And they probably would have believed her considering that she looked no where near how the little group did. People always let her off the hook because of how she looked. Sometimes it was a good thing, sometimes not. But if the girl had been caught...
Ever since Haesoo moved, she’s been doing things she would never do before. Offering up to help random people, letting people sleep in her home, and now helping someone run away from cops. Maybe that was what happened when you didn’t have a family hanging over you. Maybe that was what happened when you didn’t have to be the perfect daughter.
Either way, Haesoo thought she was a complete idiot.
For not exercising regularly, Haesoo was doing pretty good at running away from the cops. She was surprised at how easy the other girl was able to keep up too, but that was the least of her interests considering she had no idea where she was going. Their best chances were hiding in another alleyway since there weren’t enough people out during that time of the day to hide among.
When Haesoo could no longer hear the sound of footsteps following behind them, she turned down another deserted alleyway before hiding behind some old cardboard boxes. Breathlessly, she opened her hand revealing the thumb drive she had been holding the entire time they had been running, its shape imprinted into her palm. With a questioning look, Haesoo raised her brow at the girl waiting for her to say something.

Jaehyun looked at Haesoo with his mouth agape, he was taken by surprised by her offer. They didn’t really know each other but she was offering him her couch. It was somewhat awkward but he honestly rather sleep on a cushiony couch rather than a lounge chair near the pool. What if he slept walked and fell in? The thought was a little farfetched but one never knows.
“Uhm- sure,” he replied, standing up. “If it is really alright with you, I wouldn’t mind staying for a few hours.” It was already late and he would leave first thing in the morning. If Jae did stay he didn’t want to be burdensome. Well more than he already was. He expected her to take back the offer. In which case, he honestly wouldn’t have been offended if she did because it’s understandable to him for her to do. Although, part of him wished she didn’t, he really liked sleeping so not being able to just lay in bed and relax was a depressing thing for the boy to think about. Besides, Jaehyun wasn’t a bad person and they are neighbors so why not, right? She could trust him and he could trust her? Haesoo seemed like a kind girl, how many people offer a random neighbor their couch? This is the first time in three years of him living at HQ and this would be the first time.
“It’s no problem,” Haesoo quickly said after the boy. She could see the guilt-ridden expression on his face, which was the last thing he should have been feeling. “Come on.”
She led him to her apartment across the hallway, opening the door before letting him in first. There was awkward silence for a while as she shuffled around and he stood in the living room quietly. Trying to take as little time as possible, she grabbed two extra blankets and a pillow from her closet before bringing it into the living room, handing them to JaeHyun.
“I hope this is okay. If it’s still not warm enough don’t hesitate to let me know. I can turn up the thermostat some more. Feel free to use the bathroom or get a drink if you need to,” Haesoo offered, still trying to figure out herself where she should draw the line. She didn’t want any awkward feelings because the ones that lasted were always the ones that killed her inside the fastest.
Lingering onto the words, she flashed him a polite smile before finishing, “If there’s anything else just, uh, let me know.”

Haneul was in her full-on Cinderella mode, minus the pet house mices, the singing, and the blonde hair. And more whining. And she ties her pink-streaked hair with a simple hairtie, not a ribbon, but she works just as hard. If you call throwing every piece of clothing on the floor to the laundry basket and stuff her into her closet to deal later working hard, that is. But she likes to think that she’s doing a great job putting little things that don’t need folding back in their rightful places. She just had to make sure that her mother wouldn’t snoop into her closet—which is going to be hard, because her mother is that type who likes to find the smallest wrong thing that Haneul do for her to nag for. She glanced at Haesoo in the kitchen, asking to herself what would her mother say if she knew that the one who’s cooking is not her daughter ; but a stranger.
She groaned. Knowing her mother, she would question everything. Haneul needs to get Haesoo out of her apartment before her mother comes to avoid further awkwardness. She hadn’t figure out how though, she’s too focused on getting everything off the floor so she could start vacuuming.
She was trying to grab all of the various unnecessary things she found lying around to a box when she heard Haesoo asking about the food. “Ah? Hmm—“ She paused for awhile, her focus were divided at the actual question and a small bell-shaped keychain she found under the table. “No, it’s fine,” she yelled back eventually, tossing it to the box after wondering where she should hide them for awhile. “Just make it delicious, I think—hey, where do you think I should hide this? My mother shouldn’t see this mess—“
But Haneul never finished the sentence, because she was cutted off by the sound of the door bell, signaling that there’s someone outside.
“Just make it delicious, I think—hey, where do you think I should hide this? My mother shouldn’t see this mess—“
The sound of the doorbell cut the girl off.
Haesoo turned in panic, eyes wide, mirroring Haneul’s expression as they exchanged looks. Haesoo was planning on leaving before the girl’s mother made it over and by the look of Haneul’s face, she was expecting Haesoo to be gone by then too. Haesoo honestly had no idea what to do, and she honestly did not want too meet the girl’s mother. In fact, she didn’t want to meet anyone’s mother.
“Crap,” Haesoo mumbled under her breath.
The food wasn’t done, and Haneul was still cleaning; it was probably best to let the girl take the reins in this situation since it was her mom they were going to be dealing with. But, Haesoo was desperate to get out of there. She was also sure that Haneul would prefer spending time with her mom alone.
“I should leave,” Haesoo smiled nervously before spotting her bag of sugar on the counter and seeing her bag of groceries stuffed into the corner of the counter. “I came by to borrow sugar,” Haesoo hurriedly said as she grabbed her bag off the counter. “Just tell your mom that I came by to borrow some sugar after meeting on the elevator.”
Her mind was running too fast to come up with another excuse that wouldn’t seem suspicious in anyway. If you consider two strangers cooking and cleaning together under unexpected circumstances suspicious. “How about that, yeah?” Haesoo turned to look at Haneul with her bag in her arms to see if the girl would agree with her sudden suggestion.

Contentment reigned as careful steps were taken on the path home, nighttime breeze ruffling inky brown locks in a near negligent manner and drawing previously absent attention toward the present. He smiled at its antics – ever so mischievous the wind could be – hand lifting to let it caress warm skin prior to continuing onward. It was a quarter past ten, streetlights and still open storefronts brightening the way in near sharp relief. Despite the late hour the young man appeared unconcerned, gait smooth and posture relaxed with the ghost of a song hovering on the tip of his tongue. If it was ignorance to the dangers lurking amongst the shadows or great confidence regarding his own capabilities, the answer remained mystifyingly ambiguous.
It wasn’t uncommon for Luka to wander during the journey to and from his current place of residence; in fact it was disastrously second nature as each day collected upon one another into the familiar amalgamation that came with the passage of time. By that very definition, his jaunt inside CafeCozy could’ve almost been predicted; an alarming notion that all too often fled its subject of interest. Sooner or later such antics were likely to cause him trouble, as they had before, but this night was not amongst those past and future unpleasantries.
Starting a block away, a halting pattern commenced as those warm yet unfathomable eyes focused on the many details that surrounded him. The décor on one building’s exterior, a rather ornate gate, the magical residue clinging to a nearby tree (an out of place Elaeocarpus sylvestris), strange cracks in the sidewalk before him. It was the books inside the establishment, bright spines and illegible from that distance titles, that drew him in combined with the promise of a warm beverage – the temperature was quite cold this time of year. His order was quick, a cup of hot jasmine tea that wasn’t sweetened, and paid for with pocket change that a friendly smile accompanied. Sipping as he walked, Luka browsed the titles displayed intently with no clear source for the tugging that lingered under his breastbone. Years of practice whispered that it would be unwise to disregard it this time lest he somehow desperately need whatever was to come.
Deeply immersed in the task, it was quite unintentional that he happened upon a young woman in the aisle he was about to venture down, eyes locked for the barest of seconds until she turned away and all but fled. The moment, however fleeting, magnified perception and without immediate conscious thought elegant fingers plucked the very book that had caught her attention so, tucking his now empty cup into the crook of his arm. Despite the maudlin title and rather poor cover art instinctively he knew this was the item required. But, what next? Briefly unsure of what he was to do as compulsion’s haze lazily made its escape reorientation reinstated itself in stages, however it did not halt the ridiculous spinning in circles motion his body made until true clarity returned. Any bystander having the privilege of viewing his private spectacle was likely to deem him strange, someone clearly any sane person needed to stay away from. It was a depressingly common sentiment.
As a trashcan was located and empty beverage container taken care of, that was the first order of business, his second task answered itself in the form of a rather helpful sign on lending procedures with such an unusual library. Positively delighted at the news, directions were followed and the designated location discovered. Thankfully a living being appeared to be at the specified desk and with a small throat clearing a greeting sounded. “Excuse me, miss, ah, hello. I would like to borrow this book.” The aforementioned item was set upon the table absently and upon locating his ID, he finally looked up. Surprise rapidly made its home upon delicate features as the woman from before stared back at him. Well, this was going to be awkward.
Hastily, Luka spoke, that soft cadence unintentionally smoothing out in a soothing yet shy manner. “If you don’t mind that is. You seemed to be enjoying it so I promise to return it soon.”
The loose strand of hair insisted on annoying Haesoo as she swiped at it again, sliding it behind her ear before it fell out yet again. Dramtically rolling her eyes, she decided to leave it, finding it tpo exhaustive to continuously push it aside every other second. Her sudden encounter made her feel guilty for some reason and she never felt guilty. At least not for something as small as a white lie, but for some reason, she just couldn’t shake the feeling off.
With a heavy sigh, Haesoo returned to the front to find something else to occupy herself with considering that she had already finished all her work. At least all the easy work. She still had to take inventory of all the books to find any misplaced items. It was boring as hell, and made her tired to no end, but a job’s a job.
“Excuse me, miss, ah, hello. I would like to borrow this book.”
Haesoo’s thoughts were cut off from the soothing voice behind her, slightly startling her since she thought that there was no one else left, with the exception of the student and person she had just seen. Her suspicions were confirmed when she turned around to be faced with the person who triggered the guilt in her. When she caught sight of the book in his hand though, she took a moment questioning herself why it had to be that book.
“If you don’t mind that is. You seemed to be enjoying it so I promise to return it soon.”
His comment surprised her and it showed on her face as she stared at him with an open mouth, hesitation filling her as she tried to figure out what to say.
“Uh- um, yeah, that’s totally fine! I just stumbled upon it and found it really intriguing,” Haesoo decided on. It wasn’t her business what they wanted to do with the book, yet she couldn’t help feel suspicious that they would pick that book out of all the books in the library. Especially right after she had just been reading it. But is wasn’t like she could do anything.

Secrets { Haesoo & Yoonji }
A small white cloud appeared from the warm breath leaving Haesoo’s lips, floating behind her as she walked quietly down the sidewalk. She was wrapped in a scarf she had bought not too long ago, arms crossed trying to keep in all the warmth from the items of clothing that she could keep.
It was currently 3:56 in the morning. Her manager had decided to let her off the clock early seeing as they had finished all their work early and Haesoo was beyond exhausted. The only thing she hated about leaving work early was the walk back home. Haesoo never told anyone, but when it came to ghosts and spirits, she was scared out of her mind. She could put the blame on all of the scary movies she watched as a child, but it was still just a part of the spiritual world that she kind of believed in. It didn’t help that it was almost four, considering - from a number of sources, that the time between two to four was the time when spirits would wander around.
The sound of a branch crunching behind her immediately stopped her in her tracks. She could feel her blood freezing as she held her breath, debating if she wanted to look behind her or not. Chewing the inside of her cheek, Haesoo counted to three before jumping around, only to see a stray cat pressed up against the wall of the closed shop with a broken branch underneath its foot.
“Good God,” Haesoo released a sigh of relief before turning back. Another thing Haesoo wasn’t too fond of were cats. She was scared of dogs, but cats. They were an entirely different thing. Just as bad as ghosts and spirits with their mysterious gleaming eyes.
Trying to shake the paranoia off, Haesoo continued walking towards the end of the block before she saw a black shadow ahead, standing across the street. It only brought back all the rumors she would hear while cleaning after lingering customers about creatures of the night waiting to drag random strangers into the dark. A shudder ran down her back before she made a quick turn down into alleyway beside her.

Swear { Haesoo & Eunji }
It was going to be a bad day. Correction. Horrible. Haesoo could already feel it and it was only seven in the morning. How did she know? From the nightmare that woke her up at four in the morning that continued every time she fell back asleep until she decided to forget about sleeping. It didn’t help that her shift had ended even later than usual because they had to call someone else to fill in the morning shift when her coworker called in sick.
Considering that it was already seven, Haesoo decided to get ready for the day since she had scheduled volunteer hours at the animal shelter earlier that week, thinking she’d have a great end to her week. Her hair was a frizzy mess that wouldn’t cooperate more so than her usual days fighting against it, so she ended up tying it in a messy bun hoping she wouldn’t regret it later.
As little as they were, Haesoo was already burned out from the morning events and decided for store bought tea against her easy quick fix of homemade tea every morning. Better safe than sorry since anything could go wrong at this point. The last thing she needed was a fire starting in her apartment.
After slipping on clothes comfortable enough to wear while looking presentable at the same time, Haesoo walked out, shutting her door behind her with a little bit more force than she usually did. As she turned around though, she could feel a tug on her cardigan and saw, only after, that her cardigan had been caught by the doorknob and unraveled.
“Are you serious?” The frustration in Haesoo was growing by the second and she wasn’t putting any effort into hiding it anymore. She angrily stomped into the elevator before rapidly pushing the button onto the first floor. She tried to cool herself down by breathing and counting to ten. And it almost worked.
As the elevator came to its stop and opened its door, Haesoo quickly walked out, turning the corner sharply before ramming into another body. The feeling of scorching hot liquid spilling onto her body immediately came after she hit the person. Like the fire burning her skin, she could feel the fire in her eyes ready to burst at any moment.

Luck {Haesoo & Kai }
A quiet hum of her favorite song left her lips as she turned into SweetCafe. The refreshing smell of just coffee and pastries immediately filled her nose as she walked in through the entrance, a completely different scent from the old and new books that filled CafeCozy. Everything seemed lighter, even the light seemed lighter.
She stepped into line behind the last customer before spotting a twenty dollar bill on the ground in front of her. She almost called it a lucky day when she heard him mumbling about ‘swearing that he had put it somewhere’. She quickly reached down to grab it and stood up before the person in front of her bumped into her. Their cup of coffee immediately tilted from their hand while they held their wallet in the other, simply watching in despair before Haesoo’s hand shot out catching it just in time.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she looked up at the person in front of her before recognizing him from the complex.
“Here’s your coffee,” she smiled breathlessly from the sudden event, returning the cup to him. “And your twenty dollars I’m guessing?”

Oblivious { Haesoo & Jisook }
The day had just begun, and it was already great. Haesoo didn’t even mind that she was running late to the pet shelter because that’s just how good the day was. The sun was shining, her hair was being absolutely nice today, she had a hearty breakfast, and most importantly she felt fully rested. Haesoo loved mornings like this. In fact, even that was an understatement considering that the last time Haesoo had felt that good had been a long time ago.
With her cup of tea in her hand, she rushed out of her apartment, hearing her door lock behind her as she turned towards the elevator. The doors were already closing as she dashed towards them, slipping her arm in between the crack before the doors opened again.
Haesoo was greeted by one of the new tenants living on one of the floors above. If she was correct, his name was Jisook. There had been so many new people moving in that it was hard for her to keep track since she could barely keep track of the people already living there.
“Good Morning,” Haesoo greeted him with a cheerful smile. “The weather’s exceptionally great today isn’t it? Oh, and how have you adjusted to the apartments so far?”

Somehow the vibrant haired boy managed to drift off to sleep while sitting against his cool apartment door. He was deep in sleep until his body was shaking. His eyelids fluttered open, vision a bit blurry he couldn’t make out who was waking him from his slumber. Rubbing his eyes, he mumbled, “what time is it..?” It didn’t seem like much time had passed but he really didn’t know.
Dropping his hands onto his knees he finally was able to take in who had awaken him. He blinked a bit, taking in the female’s features. He met her briefly before. They were third floor-mates, so he ran into her maybe once or twice. He always wanted to greet her normally but the chance was never given. He was usually in a rush when he passed her. What was her name? “Haesoo?”
He felt somewhat embarrased by the situation, Jae was hoping that everyone had already returned home for the night alas, he was wrong. “I am alright,” he started, glancing up at the tampered padlock. “It seems like my password to my place was changed and I can’t change it back.” He decided to explain the situation in case she thought he was a random bum. Jae did not have a clue if she even remembered him. They only quickly exchanged names once and a quick “hello” the other time. “Not really sure what happened, maybe someone got drunk and forgot that this wasn’t there room,” he suggested with a shrug. It didn’t really bother him much, nothing really did. He just needed to wait until the landlord returned, he’d know what to do. “Sorry if I scared you. I didn’t want to bother anyone so I decided to sleep here. Maybe I should have went to the pool.. and slept on a lounge chair..”
Haesoo listened quietly to his explanation before catching onto words of sleeping on a lounge chair in the pool area instead. She quickly glanced at her watch again before looking at the padlock. Silently, she racked through her mind, trying to recall if she had seen anyone suspicious entering or leaving the building while she was running errands that day. She didn’t think that there was anyone on the floor that would get drunk enough to the point of breaking the padlock, but decided against her judgement at the moment considering she barely knew anyone, much less the boy sitting in front of her.
With a bit of effort, she pushed herself back up, stretching out her legs carefully. She would have happily called the situation she was in a dilemma, trying to figure out what to do next, but the boy’s situation proved to be much more of one making it hard for her to find an excuse for anything. She also didn’t really understand why she was helping people left and right all of sudden when she would usually just turn the other way after saying sorry for not being able to help. To be honest though, she didn’t mind, it was just that even she was catching herself off guard.
Haesoo decided that it was because she was living alone now, and that was so much more different from living with a family who put restrictions on everything.
“I know it might not be as comfortable, but I have an open couch sitting in my living room waiting for some company,” Haesoo offered, trying to make light of the situation. “And I can assure you, at the least, that it’ll be more comfortable than sleeping out here or on a lounge chair,” she smiled, hoping that her sincerity would get through.

“What I mean is that if you need any help cooking or cleaning I wouldn’t mind helping.”
Usually Haneul would just gladly say yes, even sometimes when she’s feeling extra, she tricked people into saying something along those lines—but now, Haneul is genuinely surprised. Not in a good way though; more of in a i-dont-know-how-to-respond kind of way. The woman in front of her is nice and all, but the stubborn voice in the back of Haneul’s head tells her that that’s exactly the point, the person is a tad bit too nice. Haesoo has the feeling of a very neat and posh aunt who casts destroying glare everytime Haneul do something wrong, and Haneul, who was usually able to make the atmosphere nice and warm was completely annoyed because she in front of Haesoo she could only be her unusual awkward self. And of course that’s highly unlikely, like who would actually be that rude on their first meetings, but the fact didn’t really wrap up correctly in Haneul’s little pea-sized brain.
But Haneul needs help. Her apartment looks like as if a hurricane just blew through, leaving a strange faint scent of something uncomfortable. It’s a pigsty ,and eventhough the thought of having Haesoo in the room kind of bothers her, her mom will arrive in any minute, so Haneul swallow her hesitation and muttered a soft “yes, please,” before adding, “you cook, I’ll clean… Unless you’re not familiar in cooking the dish, which was a little unlikely, because you seem like the cooking-type—we can switch if you’re not comfortable, that’s what I’m trying to say.” She awkwardly grins as she rushes to grab everything that’s lying on the ground, and putting them in their right places. “Yell if you need anything. And… Don’t answer my mother’s call.”
Haesoo nodded thoughtfully, keeping in mind to focus only on the food, as she easily pulled her hair into a ponytail while walking to the sink to wash her hands. She looked around the kitchen to see how much space she had and how much she would have to help tidy up before actually beginning. To start, she began by placing all of the dirty utensils into the sink while separating the ingredients onto one side of the counters. She quickly wiped down the counters before starting on the dishes.
From the living room, she could hear the girl scrambling around to clean up as fast as she could without making more of a mess. Haesoo couldn’t help but think about how much the girl reminded her of herself before. Keeping to her intentions, she quickened her pace and started measuring out the ingredients in her mind. She was cooking a meal for two, but should measure out enough for leftovers, because she would rather be safe with just a bit extra than be sorry for not making enough.
Haesoo couldn’t deny that a part of her wanted to talk to the younger girl comfortably, but something was stopping her from doing so. She wasn’t sure if it was because the girl already looked stressed enough with the state she was in, or if it was her gut feeling telling her to take her approach cautiously.
As soon as Haesoo finished cleaning, she immediately moved onto cooking. She with the vegetables one by one, peeling, rinsing, and cutting them into reasonable sized pieces. Before she moved onto the seasoning for the meat though, she paused and considered how big this was for the young girl right now.
“Haneul-sshi,” Haesoo called out, waiting for the girl’s reply. “Are there any specific things you’d want me to do while preparing the dish?”

It was sort of a drag hauling down a basket full of dirty clothes to the laundry room on the first floor. Aside from the fact that Haesoo found it extremely awkward whenever someone would hop onto the elevator at the same time as her with her dirty clothes. She could only hope it wouldn’t happen to her again this time.
Once the elevator came to its stop, Haesoo braced herself, hoping she’d be able to do her laundry privately. However, before she even reached the door, she could hear someone’s voice of frustration echoing out into the hallway. Cautiously, she opened the door with one hand while balancing her basket with the other against her hip.
“Damn Tide am I right? Can’t trust it…hah.”
A small smile escaped onto Haesoo’s lips at the sight of the boy’s stained clothes as she realized what he was talking about. “Tell me about it,” she simply replied, holding back a chuckle as she placed her basket on top of a washer. From the corner of her eye, she could see the boy stiffly inching his way against the washer, pressing himself against it as if he were hiding something. Haesoo didn’t blame him though considering that she would have felt just as uncomfortable if someone walked in on her transferring her clothes from the washer to the dryer.
She took another good look at him before realizing that he was actually her neighbor. How could she not realize? A blush of embarrassment flushed over her cheeks as she tried to dig up a name to match his face while she hastily emptied her clothes into the washer. Would it be worth it taking a guess? Screw that. She’d rather face the fact that she didn’t take the time to find out his name earlier than seem like a jerk.
“I don’t think we’ve properly met yet,” Haesoo spoke after a few minutes of silence, hoping to ease the slight tension in the air. She secretly glanced at him, unsure of how to approach him. “I’m Yoon Haesoo.”
Laundry day. Urgh. Clean clothes were becoming somewhat of a sore subject with the young werewolf because he was about a month into living at HQ and he still couldn’t work the laundromat correctly. He had just reached into the dryer to pull out a white t-shirt freshly stained pink. Every other white sock, pair of boxers, and shirt were also blushed with color. “ARGH DAMN THIS THING” He grunted, nails raking down the face of the machine and leaving 3 deep claw marks. His head perked up suddenly at the noise of the door opening. Shit…Jun quickly turned around and stepped in front of the damaged machine in order to hide the mark. “Damn Tide am I right? Can’t trust it…hah.” His laugh was futile because there was still a very evident frown pulling at his lips.

(/tapes a rose on your door along with an orange post-it with little hearts scribbled all over it/) I don’t have any chocolate, but I always have too many flowers. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Haesoo leaned back against the elevator, drained. If she could have, she would have just slept right there and then, but considering the other tenants, she urged herself to wait the extra thirty seconds until she reached her apartment.
When the doors opened, she trudged slowly to her door before looking up to see the rose and note taped onto her door. Confusion immediately set in as she carefully peeled the two things from the door, examining them both to see if there was a hint of who they were from.
She didn’t really know anyone in the building that well, nor anyone in town who would come all the way just to put a flower on her door for Valentine’s Day. Whoever it was though, she felt touched. A smile blossomed on her lips despite the fatigue running through her body. Sleep would have to wait. She couldn’t just let the flower die when someone went through the efforts of making her day a little better.
With a little more optimism in her steps, she turned back towards the elevator to go buy a vase for the single rose.

Chance { Haesoo & Chaemi }
Haesoo rolled her shoulders back as she strolled down the sidewalk. She was trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the day since she didn’t have work that night. She had just gotten off the bus returning from the animal shelter for her weekly volunteer work, and was feeling the need to find something to do. Desperately, for some reason. She didn’t really understand how people were able to do the same things everyday for the rest of their lives. Work, Eat, Sleep, Repeat. With the exception of those who went to school.
As she neared the apartment complex, she saw one of the newest tenants leaving. She had yet to introduce herself to the girl, she assumed. She couldn’t quite catch onto who it was since they immediately pulled on their hood as soon as they walked out of the building. Haesoo couldn’t help but take another look at the person as they walked away before she noticed the shape of a black rectangle falling out of their pocket.
She looked around to see if anyone else noticed before deciding to chase down the person. She quickly picked up the item to see it was their phone. When she looked up, they had already crossed the walkway onto the next block.
Hurriedly, she ran after the person, carefully dodging strangers on the way while trying to keep her eye on them. When she finally reached the corner they turned, she stumbled taking the turn before noticing that they had led her to a secluded alleyway. She almost walked away when she noticed the tops of a few heads behind a few rusting dumpsters pressed up against the brick walls.
As she cautiously entered the alleyway, she caught sight of two officers across the street, walking casually. The hushed whispering got louder and louder as she got closer to the crowded group. She quickly picked out the hooded figure she had been following before hearing a few shouts come from behind her. Before she could comprehend what was happening, another hooded figure ran past her and the voices of officers followed suit, immediately dispersing the group.
Haesoo could see the startled look on the girl’s face as she stood there silently. She couldn’t figure out for her life why she was doing what she did next, but she jumped forwards and grabbed the girl by her arm before yanking her after her, leading them out of the alleyway after the others. It wasn’t her problem. She didn’t even know the girl. In fact, she hadn’t even done anything wrong. Yet here she was, running away just like the others. She couldn't have had a better plan.
