Honestly yeah. Theres definitely a trend of making things "realistic" by basically copying the heavily stylized nature of a piece of media and giving it overly detailed textures so you get things like "realistic mario" with hyperdetailed skin so its uncanny but implies it wouldn't just be more realistic for him to be some dude with a mustache instead of this unholy creature who loses the cartoony simplicity but keeps the proportions
