That was tough question to answer at the moment, and Tana hoped she didn’t look as flustered as she felt. “I have a lot of questions I’ll be honest,” she said, an edge of panic in her voice, “but to begin with--” she crept a bit further into the tent, revealing that she was leading a pegasus, who clearly seemed distressed, “--I was wondering if you are able to treat animals at all? Achaeus really hurt his wing and I don’t know what to do or how to treat it.”Â
She’d sprained her own ankle in the same encounter, but that could wait. She’d just hoped the apparent cleric hadn’t taken notice of how stiffly Tana was walking and decide to prioritize her. Archaeus could get them home if she had a sprained ankle--it didn’t work the other way around.
[Open] I Shall Heal You
Tatiana sighs. It had been a hard battle, and even though she herself was exhausted, she still had work to do. So many had been injured in the last battle, the tent was almost overflowing with patients, with wounds ranging from burns to other cuts from melee weapons.
She adjusts her skirts, tidying up her workspace. Then, she paced around the tent, checking in on those who were either sleeping or unconscious and quietly talking with those who were awake.
The flap to the tent flutters open as she was checking the dressing on a soldier’s wound. She turns her head.
“Oh… are you alright?“ She asks, reaching for her staff. “I can heal you if you’re injured.“

Tana sighed. She should have figured as such, especially given the hushed and urgent air of Eirika having told her any of this, of the very topic itself. She wondered if Eirika was risking breaching Lyon and Ephraim’s trust, discussing this here and now, with her; more so that she promised to oblige Tana in arranging a meeting between herself and Lyon.
“It... it is, thank you,” Tana replied with a forced smile, and meeting Eirika’s gaze. She was still uneasy: for Eirika’s relationships with her newly-restored friend and her brother, and if this might strain them; for how the meeting with Lyon might go, that Tana’s biases might sabotage any chance of getting along, that though she’d heard stories of the good times then and now from Erika and Ephraim themselves, she’d never personally known the (former?) prince of Grado well herself (he was never sociable, even way back then, before everything had gone to hell) and would never get this; that everything would be right with Lyon, Tana would even come to adore him herself, but that something horrible would happen, and ruin everything again.
Eirika’s invitation, however, went a long way towards at least steadying Tana’s frayed nerves, even in spite of the absolution of what was to come within it. Because for the time being, any uncertain future by her childhood friends’ sides was infinitely better than languishing in loneliness in a too-empty castle, deemed unhelpful in spite of everything she’d done, and left in ignorance at the rapidly changing world.
“I’d truly love that,” Tana replied, sincerely this time, and with a smile to match, “if you’d like, I’ll even take us there myself--Achaeus is far faster than any horse after all. About how much longer do you suppose the counsels will last?” She hoped both that the talks would wrap up quickly, and that the storm would be long past by the end of them.
For Old Time’s Sake || Eirika & Tana
adamantflier:
Tana leaned into Eirika’s embrace, finding the small motions of Eirika’s hand on her cheek calming to the point where she could think more clearly, and while she was still choked up, she seemed to have no more tears to shed for the time being. Still Tana could not suppress her furrowed brow at Eirika’s resolute statement–it wasn’t troubling that she said such a thing in of itself, but that she clearly meant it–and that the implications left Tana feeling strangely guilty. She chose to brush it aside for the time being–where the emotion applied, she wasn’t quite sure herself, and it was far past the point where she felt it mattered.
“Eirika, I…” Tana started, gingerly cupping Eirika’s hand, and meeting her friend’s gaze, “If it’s not to much trouble, I’d like… I’d like to meet him myself.” She held her gaze, trying to read the other’s reaction. Of course, Eirika promised they’d all meet in due time, but…Â
“…Soon, I mean. I swear I wont tell a soul about… about him, but…” Tana trailed off trying to gauge if she’d asked too much.Â
Tana touched her hand and Eirika’s shoulders fell at once. She hadn’t even realized how tense she’d been until then. Tana’s request was more than fair, but…
“Ephraim and Lyon won’t much like that,” she admitted. “They’re so nervous.”Â
Her eyes turned steely and she brushed her thumb again against Tana’s cheekbone.Â
“But if that is what you want, you shall have it. Anything you need, to reassure you.”Â
Her face softened as she finally smiled.Â
“Why don’t you come home with me, after my business is over here? We can spend all that time together.”Â
#rp: for old times sake#God storry for the late response Valentine's prep week actually kicked my ass. ;;

Not for any moral reason, but Tana isn’t particularly big on eating meat in of itself and prefers meats as ingredients rather than the main entree.
#Like pasta dishes or stews kinda rather than a slab of meat framed by veggies of choice#ask memes#musings#adamantflier ooc#whiteduneprince

Hey everyone, I’m getting my blog straightened back up and trying to get back on the saddle of things after these past few months. I found some old opens of mine that have been responded to but are no longer going as threads: they can be found here

Tana smiled and clasped his hand, replying in turn, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Tobin! I’m Tana. If it’s no problem, may I ask what happened?” She got the impression that he was foreign–perhaps he was lost?
“You’re safe here.”
Tobin looks up at her, surprised. They hardly know each other, and yet…
He can feel a weight lifted from his shoulders.
“Thanks,” he says, flustered, and offers his hand. “I’m Tobin.”

Well, so much sneaking around him. With a sigh, Tana stepped out of the shrubbery, hanging her head low as she brushed herself off. While her brother never really outright barred her from training, there was always a tenseness about the subject of her knighthood that made her prefer avoiding it altogether to save the hassle. Why was he even out here anyway?
“I wasn’t trying to creep,” Tana explained, curling one of her braids in her hands, “I was just going to see Achaeus is all.” She glanced back to Innes, immediately noting that he looked a bit weary. Hoping to at least get a word in sideways in the event they were about to fight (which was likely, given that, at the very least, sneaking around was never a good look), Tana quickly interjected, “are you alright, Innes?”
Breather // Open
All Innes needed was a breather. He’d been focused on Frelia’s spy networks for the past couple of weeks, barely sleeping. He’d wandered into Walles Forest, hoping to watch the pegasi for a couple hours to relax. However, the crinkle of the underbrush kept him tense. Definitely not a pegasus, it was too clumsy. Human. He let out a deep sigh, before the growled. “I know you’re there, come out.”Â

“I–is that a wink? Are you winking?”
“ Oh!” Tana straightened at the sight of the stranger who’d managed to elude her line of vision up until that moment (perhaps due to the fact that she was attending to Achaeus’s mane--silly Pegasus could have given her a heads up!), “Hello there! I didn’t see you coming! I hope I haven’t kept you waiting long... are you from around here?”

For Old Time’s Sake || Eirika & Tana
adamantflier:
As Eirika spoke, Tana fought back the urge to start sobbing all over again, especially when the other woman’s voice started wavering.
“Oh, Eirika, I… I’m so sorry,” Tana reiterated, finally turning to face her friend again, clutching at the front of her dress. She was still mad, of course she was still mad, but Eirika trusted her, told her. The very least Tana could do was try to empathize with her dearest friend; it was clear that Lyon’s return left Eirika deeply conflicted.
“I… I can’t even begin to imagine how… how hard it must have been on you two,” Tana started, taking a shaky breath to steady her nerves as she began trudging to Eirika, “I’m so, so sorry. It wasn’t my pkace to…” Just being reminded of those horrible rumors of the twins’ characters was enough to make her blood boil, and thinking how, even now, Ephraim was still in some far away place in constant danger, in spite everything they’d done.
Tana knelt down before Eirika so as to not look down on her as she spoke (which was barely possible–Eirika was tall enough to be nearly eye-level with Tana when the latter was standing), reaching up in hope of holding her hands.
“I still don’t… don’t understand. But I want you and Ephraim both to be happy. To finally rest. I want the both of you to be safe. And Eirika you’ve… you’ve always been sensible. I just hope you’re right about this…” Tana began sniffling as she tried to fight back sobs, and struggling through them, continued with a shake of her head, “please promise me… promise me there’s been no cause for alarm since he… Lyon… came back. Please…” A small part of Tana hated herself for being so hurtful with her words, and still demanding Eirika comfort her.
“Oh, Tana.”Â
Eirika gave her hands at once, sinking to join Tana on the ground. She only pulled away so she could set a palm to Tana’s cheek, stroking with her thumb, ready to wipe away any tears that fell. It broke her heart to distress her dearest friend like this – Tana was always sensible too, in her own way. She could see the situation for what it was; not clouded with anger like Innes surely would, or with love and guilt like Ephraim did. Like Eirika knew she herself did.Â
“I can promise you that. Please don’t worry on that front. At first…I was suspicious. Much moreso than Ephraim. But I looked, and I looked, and…the demon really is gone.”Â
She locked her eyes on Tana, hoping she could see how sincere she was.Â
“If I thought my brother – and you and Innes – were in any danger…I swear to you, I would kill him myself, this time.”Â
The very thought ached, and she winced against it.Â
“But he’s so…painfully like his old self. The hard part will be getting everyone else to accept that as the truth.”

ooc; â–ł What's your relationship with your fellow pegasus knights?
“Well, Syrene and Vanessa feel in some ways like the sisters I never had!” Tana replies easily with an affirmative nod, “Syrene was the senior to both Vanessa and I. She helped coach me not just as a pegasus knight but in more day-to-day, practical matters as well. I owe so much to her!”
With a laugh, Tana further elaborates, “I certainly wish I got a chance to speak to Vanessa more, but she’s really studious and straight-laced. While she’s never said anything to the effect, I always feel like I can’t say I’m her peer, in spite of the fact that we trained together. I feel like a bumbling fool compared to her.”Â
2/10. It was certainly a bit embarrassingly honest, but nothing she was particularly ashamed to admit.Â

Do you ever feel as if you could never live up to the bar your older brother set?
“I… I struggle with it,” Tana admits, fussing with a braid absentmindedly. This question was easily 4/10.Â
“It’s not that I’m not confident in my own abilities. But… Innes truly is skilled beyond measure and possibly the smartest person I know. How could I ever live up to that? Were it not for the rivalry he insists on having with Ephraim, he’d be peerless, I think. …It doesn’t help that I’m constantly the one in the wrong.”
