I have some news for members of the united states armed forces who feel like they are pawns in a political game and their assignments being unnecessary.

"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

“Ankh-Morpork is a godless city—” “I thought it had more than three hundred places of worship?” said Maladict. Strappi stared at him in a rage that was incoherent until he managed to touch bottom again. “Ankh-Morpork is a godawful city,” he said.

It's important to remember that Luigi Mangione is being framed for murder. The "evidence" they have on him is absolute clown shoes absurd.
They're trying to win this by swaying public opinion. That's why they're doing movie deals about it and staging ridiculous photo ops.
They're gonna try to give this kid the death penalty to cover up for their own gross incompetence and in the hopes that they scare the working class out of trying to fight back.
Please don't help them do this by using his name as a synonym for political assassinations. Please do not perpetuate the idea that he's guilty.

Saying this right fucking now.
I don’t want to see ANY of you touching that fuckass new Harry Potter series.
That woman has set us back YEARS. YEARS. And whose money is she using to do it? People who continually support her and her sorry excuse for a book series.
If you simply must watch it? Pirate. It’s not hard.
Do not give her money. Do not give her a platform. Do not contribute. Please.

Listen, folks, I also hate generative AI and do not think it is an effective accomodation, but if your argument against it is "Oh, you think [task] is hard? What a stupid idiot baby!" then I'm sorry to say that is Literally Just Ableism. Please think about what you are saying. The point should be that it doesn't actually work to solve the problems that people are struggling with, not that they're wrong for struggling in the first place.

I understand why a lot of fantasy settings with Ambiguously Catholic organised religions go the old "the Church officially forbids magic while practising it in secret in order to monopolise its power" route, but it's almost a shame because the reality of the situation was much funnier.
Like, yes, a lot of Catholic clergy during the Middle Ages did practice magic in secret, but they weren't keeping it secret as some sort of sinister top-down conspiracy to deny magic to the Common People: they were mostly keeping it secret from their own superiors. It wasn't one of those "well, it's okay when we do it" deals: the Church very much did not want its local priests doing wizard shit. We have official records of local priests being disciplined for getting caught doing wizard shit. And the preponderance of evidence is that most of them would take their lumps, promise to stop doing wizard shit, then go right back to doing wizard shit.
It turns out that if you give a bunch of dudes education, literacy, and a lot of time on their hands, some non-zero percentage of them are going to decide to be wizards, no matter how hard you try to stop them from being wizards.

I promise you it's not that hard to drain a sidewalk without pushing me aggressively towards a rotator cuff injury, I PROMISE. Modern urban planning, the sensible kind, has other ways to address this, and also the intense slant is a problem. Also, wtf are you talking about a chair with a wider camber?? Like ok first of all, this is a problem for people with narrow camber on their expensive medical device, and second of all, slants that severe with a wider chair will 100% end with one of your castor wheels on the ground and one of your main wheels off it, or vice versa, thus making steering, balance, and moving in the first damn place basically impossible. In some suburbs, I literally cannot move along a street without being on the road in my manual wheelchair, because the distribution of pressure is such that I'm sometimes spinning one wheel against nothing on a curb-cut ramp. Treating this as an us problem, instead of a systemic one, gets people hurt, maimed, killed on occasion - and it's always chalked down to the victim instead of the shitty city planning that has, for example, tram tracks so poorly maintained that someone gets thrown outta their chair trying to cross them on a crosswalk, or slants so severe that someone can't move unaided. Also, I could gripe about so many other things. Why is supposedly the platinum standard for wheelchair accessible housing not providing drop-down cupboards? You're already employing a custom cabinetry person to fit out the apartment/house/whatever, why not spend the extra like $600 or less per cupboard and make them lower so that people can actually store things in their own homes? Etc. etc. ad nauseum
wheelchair accessibility I never see talked about
table height
aisle width
center vs side poles for tables
spots to sit in rooms/adutioriums/etc. that aren't blocking aisles
sink height and sink cabinets
toilet height
cash register height
the height of just so much, I could go on
benches/trash cans/scooters/bikes & bike racks/restaurant patios/etc. taking up sidewalk space
light poles placed in the center of the sidewalk
tilted sidewalks
lack of cross walks (jaywalking is not an option for me!)
overgrown brush over sidewalks
