in all the years she'd known him, kieran ollivander was someone amaline had found deeply amusing, and seeing his face was always a pleasant moment — it was part of the carefully constructed facade she held, the way she'd befriended many at school and continued to cherish some of those friendships. if her husband — or before that her father or silas — would've questioned her at first, they'd soon decided that amaline was simply… sentimental. there were worse traits in a woman, and so they gave her a pass — it worked for her, in many more ways than one. "i'll have you know i find… kissing booths, perfectly distasteful, and untoward." she hadn't noticed what she was approaching until he spoke and she turned to read the perfectly visible sign, and her cheerful smile tightened into something a little sharper — not unkind or upset, but certainly with an edge to it. the amusement in her eyes… well, she didn't bother hiding that. "no self-respecting married woman would think it an opportunity, and i'm terribly sorry, darling, but if i'd wanted to kiss you at school i could've. perhaps you're not as enticing as you think."

Kieran found himself pulling double duty, between the Ollivander booth, helping those afford quality wands and the kissing booth which was much more fun. Though, being paid to kiss strangers was a bit close to a step to prostitution, wasn’t it? He wasn’t sure how he felt about that, but then again, knowing his charm and good looks, and more specifically his lips were raising money for those in need was an accomplishment wasn’t it? He had caught quiet a few eyes and had caused them to turn away from their original destination to come to the kissing booth instead. 

It was while taking a break, giving his lips a rest, he saw a familiar face, one hovering around the booth before approaching. “Oh, is that why you circled twice? I thought you were just getting up the courage to finally approach the booth, unable to resist finally getting a kiss from me,” he teased, a crooked smile appearing on his lips. “The only safe way for a married woman such as yourself to get a second chance at what she missed out on during school.”

it was universally known that the only thing holding the wixen world together — if one could even say it was being held together, which in itself was highly debatable — was the pretence of high society and decency, which was precisely why amaline found herself taking a solitary stroll through carkitt market, taking in the steadily growing crowds. she couldn't complain, she always enjoyed people watching and taking in the things that still excited those on the outskirts of the war — if it meant she did her husband's image a favour, and tried to overhear a conversation or two… well. amaline selwyn ( née vance ) was nothing if not a practical woman. while she made no purchases, she walked and perused different shops, hummed and ahed at whatever seemed pretty, offered polite smiles at the people behind the counters, and waved at babbling babies. all in all, she could've done quite a lot worse, and she was almost satisfied with her friday when a familiar face forced her hand — it would hardly be polite to not approach them, after all, and so she did. "the shops are quite quaint, aren't they? i've done the rounds twice by now, i believe."
