Posted for the sillies & punched myself in the feelies cause Peony still loves Rose so much. That's his big brother, that will ALWAYS be his big brother & despite everything he really wants his big brother to live a safe, happy, fulfilled life. He just doesn't think he can be part of that life for his OWN happiness he can't. That still tears him up inside but he's come to acknowledge it and accept it and he's gotta put himself first now. No matter how much he loves his family and wants to take care of their happiness, someone needs to take care of his happiness.

"Well if ye really din't know Ah s'ppose Ah can't blame ye. But now ye do know!! Deh ye t'ink hangin' 'round 'em is a bit dangerous?!"

Says the man who certainly is not concerned for his brother. Has cut him off, is very much unconcerned. Totally.

' I don't know if you've looked at the state of the world beyond Galar, but it's full of these terrorist organisations, Peony.

I still need to rework a lot of timeline stuff here cause replaying SWSH made me realize I got my timeline way wrong.

But I'm thinking bout Peony again & specifically young adult/teen Peony

... Why did it take me this long & while sleep deprived to realize I had my timeline for Peony all messed up?

In his League Card we see he was Champion when Peonia was a toddler. For some reason I thought for SURE he'd stopped being champ before she was born.

Peony really is happiest when he isn't thinking about Rose & that kind of drives me insane. Even if he wanted to reconnect with Rose I don't know if he could as he STILL hasn't fully healed from his feelings of inadequacy to Rose and those feelings just sneak back in constantly to eat away at him whenever he thinks about his own brother. He does want to love his brother and be proud of his brother's accomplishments. But he can't because something in him is always going 'Why aren't YOU like that?'

Peony knew of the corruption that resided in the league before Rose joined. He was not as naive or as unaware as it may have seemed. He just turned a blind eye, he was complicit because it meant he got to be in power. If he just left things alone he could be special, important for a little bit and he was willing to accept that. If it just meant he could be more important then his brother for a teeny tiny bit that was all he cared about. Then Rose became chairman and he didn't suddenly grow a conscious, no that came with age. He just grew angry. He became resentful because he'd accepted so much poor treatment just so he could be special and important only for his brother to one up him AGAIN. Only for Rose to sweep the rug out from under him. What was the point of it all? What was the point of turning a blind eye to the corruption if Rose could just come in and make him insignificant again? Why play this stupid game of the League's when his brother could come in and change the rules to fit his desires as he always did? Why did anything Peony ever do matter when Rose could just come steal the spotlight? Honestly this was Peony's lowest point because he had to come to terms with the fact that he'd allowed so much to go on all for the sake of something so insignificant as the feeling of importance. He could've done something as champion. But he didn't. He was complicit, he didn't try to change anything. He just played along to the game.

Thinking bout Peony & his parents and why he cut them out. Cause I don't think they were necessarily abusive at least not in the way most would imagine but their love for him was certainly conditional. He had to fit a very specific mold or else he wasn't good enough and like Rose fit that desired mold really well. But Peony didn't, in fact it felt like he really couldn't and after so long of feeling like he could never meet the conditions of his parents love, he just kinda gave up on trying to meet those conditions. If they couldn't love him unconditionally he didn't want them in his life at all.

Look at that!! All his kiddos are here!! He's so proud and happy and excited!! He's bouncing like an overcharged battery!!! Also Rose is here but fuck that guy.
