I'm just a couple chapters into Agartha and I'm already fed up with the writing. Why are we being so down on Astolfo? Why are we focusing on Fergus's discomfort with women? Needless to say I'm appreciating your blog quite a bit.

End of the blog, final words, and afterthoughts.

As the blog has finalized its run, I would like to make a few final comments.

First, I would like to get this off my chest: This blog was waaaaaaaaaay more work than I expected it to be. There were many days when I got home tired from work, opened Photoshop to make the next update, and wondered why I chose to make such a big project in the first place. But as it finally comes to a close, I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic.

I am personally quite pleased with how the story ended up. I am no expert writer, neither am I an expert at using Photoshop to its full potential, but I ironed out the bits and pieces of the Agartha storyline that bothered me the most: Penthesilea’s rapey comments, Columbus’s whole deal, and Fergus’s deeply, deeeeply misogynistic and sexual commentary during the final fight. I am not sure if I was the best person for the job of rewriting Agartha to get rid of those elements, but I certainly had a blast doing it. And I hope from the bottom of my heart you had a blast reading it, as well as considered my changes to be improvements rather than mere bastardizations of the source material.

I cannot express well enough how thankful I am for all of you who took the time to read this. The ones who liked and reblogged the story posts, as well as spread the word about the blog’s existence. Your words of encouragement, your comments under the posts... they are all more valuable than gold to me. When I chose to take this project, I was prepared for a small, niche audience. My expectations were, however, surpassed by the hundreds, and that’s what I’m taking away from this experience: the fact that my rewritten summary reached that many people. Most of my projects are things that I make for myself, but if what I create can resonate with an audience... then I’m all the more happy with the end product.

Again, thank you very, very much for sticking with me so far. I hope that what I created was a fitting alternative to reading through the canon Singularity itself, as it very justifiably makes a lot of people uncomfortable with its contents.

I’d like to close by reminding you all that I did not make this with the purpose of boycotting Fate/Grand Order, or even to point out its flaws. I believe the game is extremely enjoyable, and I hold it dearly close to my heart (or I wouldn’t have taken the time to make this in the first place). It is, as any other piece of entertainment, accountable to criticism, and I mostly just wanted to provide a cleaner alternative to those players who don’t wish to put up with all the flaws in the Agartha storyline just to not miss out on what happened during it. I won’t be deleting the blog now that it’s over, as I wish for it to keep serving this purpose for future players who find themselves in the aforementioned situation.
