love House MD because House is the MAIN CHARACTER at that hospital and there's no attempt to hide this. as the viewer you are fully aware that those nurses in the elevator are just extras. the boss's entire schedule consists of yelling at him. the head of oncology would rather prescribe him controlled meds and flirt than practice oncology. his team's only desires are to fuck him and strangle him, often at the same time. every other doctor at the hospital might as well be a cardboard cutout.

the walls are glass, the better to see him through. he limps around, commits malpractice, and serves cunt.

scarlet johannson did not spend an entire decade fighting tooth and nail to make natasha into an actual character instead of the sex object writers wanted her to be while also having to endure the most vile, misogynistic questions during press tours for people to now disrespect her legacy because yelena is 'better'. the only reason why that is, is because of everything scarlet went through. natasha singlehandedly paved the way for every other female superhero in the mcu and don't you forget that

Sirius Black speaks French

This is just a fact

But he doesn’t really do it much

Regulus does though

He uses every opportunity to show his friends his difficult and rather attractive skill

And he does it flawlessly

James never hesitates to talk Sirius’ ear off about how his brother was speaking french and why does his brother speak French ??

But it reminds Sirius of home and the cruel nights he spent with his hand glued to his dad’s desk until he could translate hundreds of meaningless vocabulary words

So he doesn’t like to do it

Regulus was quick to pick it up, but Sirius had to trudge through it like someone escaping quicksand or wading through a bog; Slowly, messily, and never as easily as he should’ve been able to

One day, when he finally talks to Remus about it, Remus tells him that was awfully similar to how he felt learning how to read

Like it was so damn difficult but it shouldn’t be - all the other kids could do it

Notably dumber kids could do it

But he just couldn’t catch up; it was always one step forward and two steps back

And Sirius realizes maybe the problem isn’t that he is dumb and his brother is smarter

Maybe the problem is something else entirely

Maybe Sirius has other skills that don’t include learning languages he doesn’t need to learn or impressing a family he shouldn’t have to try so hard to impress

Maybe he’s just Sirius, and maybe sometimes he’s glad he speaks French (Remus is an awfully big fan), and maybe he’s a little different, and maybe that’s just fine.

Remus first learns this when they are sitting with their hands interlocked doing work and Sirius just casually writes his essay with his left hand because his right is holding Remus’

And Remus is shocked because how has he never noticed??

And he’s not writing in his perfect Black cursive, his handwriting with his left hand is a lot messier, a lot more ‘him’

But the next day he is taking notes in class with his right hand and the perfect handwriting is back and Remus is so confused

So he finally asks Sirius about it and he tells him about how he was born a leftie

But his parents couldn’t have a defected heir, so they forced him to learn with his right hand

So now he can write pretty well with both but just defaults to the right because that’s what he’s always done

And Remus just decides at every opportunity to sit on Sirius’ right and hold his hand so he has to write with his left

Because it’s so beautiful and true and him

I actually think one of the funniest things about the “Taylor Swift wrote All The Young Dudes” theory (aside from, you know, wtf??) is that anyone who has even read a chapter and a half of that fic would know it was written by a british person. A sort of historical fiction story that changed my life is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini, a story about two women in Afghanistan from the Soviet invasion through the end of the first taliban occupation and I truly believe everyone should read it.
