Full offense but your writing style is for you and nobody else. Use the words you want to use; play with language, experiment, use said, use adverbs, use “unrealistic” writing patterns, slap words you don’t even know are words on the page. Language is a sandbox and you, as the author, are at liberty to shape it however you wish. Build castles. Build a hovel. Build a mountain on a mountain or make a tiny cottage on a hill. Whatever it is you want to do. Write.

Sometimes with NaNo I write a scene but I’m really not happy with how it came out

Not just “needs editing” not-happy but like “this is Wrong and I can’t move on until it’s less wrong”

So I rewrite a bit. But instead of deleting and starting over, I just keep both versions in brackets or whatever so I can pick and choose my favorite later

That way I’m still pushing forward, I’m still feeling productive, AND when the time comes to polish the whole thing later, I’ll have both versions to refer back to in case there are any cool details I decide I’d like to keep

Medium news: I am personally super not okay with selling a product that can only be bought through a highly unethical corporation no matter how big and unavoidable it is, so I'm currently working to distribute paperbacks through Ingram Spark.
