Progressives/liberals/leftists: We're the most open-minded people! We accept diversity! We read books...NOT LIKE THOSE OTHER PEOPLE WE LIKE TO TAG AS BAD PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DISAGREE WITH US! ALSO WE PREFER TO READ BOOKS MADE BY PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW OUR SAME IDEOLOGY! ALSO WE ACCEPT ONLY DIVERSITY IF MINORITIES HAVE OUR SAME POINT OF VIEW OR ELSE THAT MEANS THAT THEY HATE THEMSELF OR THAT ARE SOME KIND OF PICK-ME-UP KIND OF PEOPLE! But we are very open-minded people...unlike everyone else...

Is kind of funny that people are blaming the bad writing of the remake of Lilo and Stitch on conservatism
And I'm gonna tell you why
Bob Iger is liberal, and he never denied that. Remember how South Park mocked Kathleen Kennedy with the famous catchphrase "put a chick in it and make it lame and gay!"?
"But Disney follows the money!"
Oh, you don't say? NOW you see that? Because their pandering on the LGBTQ+ community, black community and feminism wasn't because they were following the money?
You really thought that back then they were genuine?
The magic of Disney was officially dead even before this shitty remake!
"Pleakley is not a transvestite!"
Even the most conservative didn't find original Pleakley problematic, his dressing as a woman was more meant to be "comedic" than meaningful, like Bugs Bunny kind of comedic.
But that doesn't mean that I do not understand your point.
Unfortunately, Disney decided that now him and Jumba use space holograms to turn into their actors so they wouldn't need to use more CGI (and I say thank God because CGI Pleakley and Jumba are nightmares).
However, they could have made the actor wearing female clothing or using a female hologram as a disguise while still having a male voice.
But we all know that certain countries that I'm not gonna name wouldn't give Disney a cent. As usual, the problem isn't inside America, but more outside of America and inside of Disney.
"But Nani is white now!"
She's not, she's half-philipina and her skin is brownish, not pale. Disney has race-swapped to death every single character (even Snow White). Do you really think that at this point they wouldn't race-swapped a non-white character? Or, for you, race-swap was ok as long the race-swapped character is white? Because if that's your logic, you deserve race-swapped Nani.
And before you say "but it's very important for the theme of the story", no it's not. The scene of Lilo dealing with annoying tourists was deleted because the focus of the original film was about family (and honestly annoying tourists aren't a problem just for Hawaii, even European and Asian countries have to deal with them). Lilo also isn't bullied by her peers because she's dark skinned, have you even watched the original? She's bullied even by peers who are dark-skinned as her. The reason why she got bullied was because she was weird in their eyes, and guess what? That's how it is in the children's world, children outcast more easily those who are weird and easy target.
In fact, the real big issue in the remake is that Lilo is not a troublemaker who gives a sandwich to a fish, so it won't rain. She's too tamed, which makes her being bullied unclear.
"Conservatives want non-whites families drifted apart!"
Get your head out of your ass for a moment. Conservatism isn't an ideology supported by white people only. There are also non-whites who support conservatism.
Whatever Trump is doing, I don't care and is none of my business because I'm not american and the world doesn't revolve around America, whatever is a liberal or a conservative.
BUT
Disney has been pushed an anti-family agenda for at least 10 years and you were all fine for that until now.
Remember when in the Peter Pan remake the "happy memory" of Wendy was imagining herself dying of old age not only childless, but completely alone and not imagining at least her young brothers giving her farewell?
In fact, even conservatives hate what Nani does in the end and agree with your idea that "original Nani would never abandon Lilo to pursue her career".
In fact, the real issue is that this remake is pushing the idea that YOU SHOULD (whatever you're white or not) abandon your family to pursue a career.
This is Disney pushing another "girl boss" ideology into their movie by making Nani treating Lilo like a burden exactly how a single mother who watches The View would do.
Now, if you think that modern Disney is racist, that's fine because I agree with that.
They've been racist toward white people by making every white male dumb or evil while also accidentally being racist towards non-whites as every rich liberals do (remember Kelly Osborne what she said about the latinos or the Oye Primos incident?)
But blaming on conservatism doesn't prove your points, it makes you look like grifters (and I don't think that you would like that idea)

Can we talk about how twisted the "female-empowering" message is from Modern Disney?
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Original: Kind, polite, patient but with her limits, curious and creative
Remake: Rude even to those who talk to her kindly and obnoxious
Jasmine from Aladdin
Original: Determined, skilled, joyful, and empathic
Remake: A total damsel in distress who wants power because...?
Mulan from Mulan
Original: Smart, determined and ready to test her limits to prove herself
Remake: Strong from the beginning because made-up superpowers (remember young girls, you're nothing if you don't have cool skills since birth)
Wendy from Peter Pan
Original: Motherly, caring and brave
Remake: literally selfish and unlikable who would throw her brothers under the bus to save herself
Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Original: Curious, sweet, kind, gentle and courageous just as prince Eric
Remake: Eric is a bimbo who can't even help himself, so Ariel has to be there to do everything. Also, apparently Eric loves Ariel because he's hypnotized by her, which accidentally makes Ariel more predatory
Snow White from Snow White
Original: Sweet, kind, naïve, humble, who puts everyone above herself
Remake: Power-thirsty and exploiter towards the dwarfs
Nani from Lilo & Stitch
Original: Can lose her temper, but she's very patience and a caring sister towards Lilo and would do everything to not lose her
Remake: Hot-head, treats Lilo as a burden, hates her parents for dying (no really, there's a scene where she blames their parents for "leaving them behind")
And don't get me started at those "uwu female villains are misunderstood"
Honestly, is this really what young women want to feel represented as? Because I'm a woman and I don't like that at all.
