Gyokai Ramen
魚介ラーメン。Gyokai Ramen. 魚介=Seafood.
This is my current benchmark in Singapore to satisfy my gyokai ramen craving until I find another. If you don’t like food that has strong smells (like the kind on mutton and pork), then this is not for you.
#1. Sanpoutei Ramen’s Rich Dried Sardine Tsukemen
Mindful eating: Notice the strong fishy taste, feel the thick soup (this is because it is tsukemen style), feel the cool chewy noodles (I believe they used the “dunk in cold water” method).

For those who are unsure what gyokai ramen is and want to test water, you can try my budget recommendation.
Not as strong in flavour but will definitely have the taste of the fishiness to get an understanding. This is a W-soup where they mix tonkotsu with gyokai. Opt for the non-spicy Tonkotsu Gyokai ramen for a stronger understanding of the gyokai element in the soup. It will be helpful if you have tried and remember the taste of just tonkotsu ramen so you can pick out the taste.
#2. Super Lucky Ramen @ Northpoint City
Tumblr media
Anyway, I was introduced to gyokai ramen while I was based in Japan for work. One day I was in Tokyo over the weekend and I searched “ramen” in Google Maps near where I stayed in Shinjuku. One shop came up and I was amazed at the number of reviews it had. At that time, it had about 750 reviews with an average score of 4.3/5 (or was it 4.2?). That to me, was quite a feat. The shop’s name is Fuunji (風雲児). I tried it and boom!, gyokai was my favourite soup base ever since (but only for the rich taste and thicker feel type).
Fuunji only has one shop though and it is in Shinjuku. If you are in Kansai, check Sanpomen out. There are many outlets so you won’t wait long to get your gyokai ramen. Anywhere else, you have to find it yourself.

Blog Revival
Recently, I ate from this store that someone blogged about. The person praised the food and therefore, we went to try it out. However, I was not impressed because the food did not match what was described by him. How the meat was cut was specially mentioned as it affected the taste, but no leh, it was nothing special and did not get that feeling he was describing. Overall, it was slightly above average and I can eat it again, if I am around the area.
I candidly told our friend that I should revive this blog and start giving reviews of the food I ate too. Please note that whatever I write about the food here is purely my opinion and for my keepsake. Lol, I sound like my blog is gonna be super popular. Hahaha!
Anyway, my posts will not come regularly as I do not actively hunt for food. Let’s see what happens.

I never expected the keyboard to be part of the cover! Also, the keyboard is connected by contact through small circular conductors when it snaps on the side. Cool stuff Windows! I think the idea is more interesting than just packing in more pixels into a screen.

Self-handicapping
The self-defeating behaviors that people engage in to protect their self image so as to prevent others from attributing their poor performance to it.
So true in many students.

It has "redefined" the way I interact with my mobile phone, with its "awesome" camera, "powerful" processor, "amazing" sound, "fantastic" user interface, "completely redesigned" outlook, "blah blah" blah and etc.
Can someone guess who says all these?
So far, using this phone for 5 days and I am finding Android really interesting.
