The DOOM Slayer

My most glorious creation, Doomguy counts as a daemon prince. I have some half-baked lore about a Salamander becoming disillusioned with the Imperium and going on a murder spree against everyone. And then the Crimson Hounds follow at a distance because he leads them to good fights. But really the Doom Slayer could just fight through hell and come out the other side in 40k and it'd make sense.

And then he's got a Chaos Lord form as well

Episode #2 of where I force myself to finish a unit in my pile of shame, and then concurrently share something from the finished part of my collection.

The New

The Old (kinda cheating here, but I'll explain below)

Last time I said that I wanted to finish these for a Pariah Nexus campaign this past Thursday. You will notice it is Sunday, and may be concerned that I didn't get it done in time. I in fact did, I just couldn't be arsed to type up a post.

In the order seen above, I present to you:

Chapter Master of my homebrew Chapter, The Fire Thieves, Draephecto. Veteran of the Damocles Crusade and one of the 23 survivors of a 250 year holdout, who are considered First Generation Fire Thieves. I'll explain that another time.

Carrahk’Aksa, one of the chapter's top techmarines, responsible for maintaining their air assets. Also a first generation FT. I'll show you his babies after I've painted the last one.

Ankarydios, an apothecary, maybe chief, we'll see how he does in this campaign. I don't really have any lore for him yet.

Sergeant Iknillitus and his Scouts. Following the chapters penchant for up-armoring and bolters, the scouts adopt heavy weapons and modified MK VIII helmets for increased durability and an intimidating flair. Noteworthy achievements include wiping out a band of chaos cultists and forcing a squad of chaos space marine legionaries to retreat during a kill team campaign.

These next two images are two versions of two characters, so while it's two painted models a piece, it's still really one unit or character.

Deucalion, aka 'The Duke', was the acting Chapter Master during the early years of the Indomitus Crusade. The first generation of the chapter was assumed to have been completely wiped out at some point, so when the Primaris reinforcements were sent out into the galaxy, the Second Generation Fire Thieves were given the identity to honor the lost members, or because it made the bureaucracy easier. Willingly, if not happily, he surrendered the title of Chapter Master when the First Generation survivors were rediscovered. (Left Old, Right New)

Gallicles the Steadfast, is a fucking monster. I like letting the dice tell stories, and they chose him to be the protagonist. He was the Sergeant of my hellblaster squad. His first game on the table, 2nd round, his squad was wiped out by a 6 man squad of boltstorm aggressors. He blew one away on my turn, and then proceeded to tank all of the shots from the remaining 5 the next round (he didn't remain up the round after that though). Hence all the bullet holes on the old model, and why I gave him the Deathstroke style half mask (one of the many bolt rounds took out the eye). His second game, his squad was once again wiped out, this time by kabalites. So for the shits and giggles of it, I had him rush out into melee and lock down a dark Eldar raider. The man managed to once again, make all the saves necessary and survived the melee combat for 3 rounds, locking the raider in place till the end of the game. Finally, a few games later, he managed to survive a round of melee combat with a Custodes Blade Champion. It was at this point I said, fuck it, this guy need a promotion to captain. My buddy playing said Custodes was so entertained by this he donated the castellan axe to put on his captain model.

TLDR, dude survived 66 bolt rounds (9th edition), fist fought a boat to a stand still, and perfect parried a custodian becuse RNGesus loves him, earning him a field promotion. (Left New, Right Old)

If you told me I could only ever use one mech again, for the rest of my life, regardless of weight class, it would be the Shadow Cat, no question.

I got my start in MechWarrior with MW4 Vengeance, and I'm pretty sure you start with a Shadow Cat, so it's possibly exposure bias, but I used that thing for nearly the entire campaign cause I loved how fast and flexible it was.

As much as I love shoving a weapon nearly 1/3 your tonnage in your right arm in the prime configuration, I'm much more partial to the Shadow Cat D, largely cause I have a kink for Streak SRMs and sustained mg fire.

Honorable mentions would be the Black Jack and the Uziel, probably cause I'm autocannon pilled, because I like House Davion, because I played Vengeance first.

Post #1 (of hopefully many) where I share a freshly completed project from my pile of shame, and something from my collection of finished ones.

Freshly completed, I present to you the first unit from my Emperor's Children army. I have dubbed their warband the 'Pretty Hate Marines'.

They believe the Imperial Truth is a terrible lie.

They are justified.

They are purified.

They are sanctified, inside Slaanesh.

TBH, these guys have been painted for a week, but I just based them this morning. No big lore plans yet for the army, just music puns and a list of kit bashes I'm looking forward to. Hopefully the rest will come to me as I go.

From the collection of finished stuff, I present to you the biggest 'mini' I've painted. My 28mm scale Mad Cat (no, I won't call it a timberwolf, don't @me clanner scum), which my dad 3D printed for me years ago, but I only built and painted last year.

Kriegsman for size reference. Wish I collected Custodes so I could use a banana for scale.

The paint job isn't my best work, but I like to think it's more than good enough for being displayed on a shelf.

Gonna start posting my Warhammer stuff on social media instead of just bombarding my friends with the shit I come up with while huffing glue.

Rogue Trader and 2nd edition era stuff have attracted some of my interest over the past year and a half, so I got really excited when I saw the new heresy box was gonna have Saturnine in it.

I'm using the Praetor model for my homebrew chapter master, and running him as a Captain in Terminator Amor. The axe easily meets the power weapon requirement, but he needs a storm bolter cause I like to keep mostly WYSIWYG. After a few days of playing with integrating it into the armor or weapon, I finally just decided I would mag lock one on his hip. And in case I didn't like the way it looked all together, I actually attached it with magnets. (Please excuse the 3d printer sounds)

I've been doing this hobby since just before the plague years, so I've got a lot of painted models, but also a similarly sized pile of shame. My plan is to post everything new I finish, and for every new unit I finish, I'll also share one of my old finished units and force feed you my homebrew lore piecemeal.

Hopefully I'll be back with him and a few more models painted before next Thursday, cause I'm supposed to use them in a new narrative campaign starting then.
