The first art shows Rumi holding a potted carnations. My hc is it's a gift from Celine post movie. It's her way of extending an olive branch and sharing their love of gardening. Rumi sending Celine updates and Celine chiming in giving her tips to care for the flowers.

Zoey and Mira gifted Rumi iris seedling, specifically the blue variant.

On the subject about parents needing to control their child's reading and invade their privacy in order to "protect" them from "inappropriate material:

Until I was in....college? At least? The vast, vast majority of the books I read were either a) assigned by my school or b) (the vast majority of my reading) provided to me by my mother.

My mom is a librarian. She filled our rooms with books, picked especially for us. She pointed out books on the shelves in our home library (separate from our bedroom shelves) that she thought we would like. She bought us books for birthdays, Christmas, and just stacks of recommendations. She once paid me $10 to read one of the Cirque Du Freak books because she said I needed "to be exposed to bad literature."

She respected my privacy in room, didn't go through my belongings. She explicitly pointed out to us that she wouldn't know if we took a particular book of the shelf, as long as we returned it, if we didn't want her to know we were reading it. She purposely brought us books that she didn't care for herself, because she thought we might find them valuable or enjoyable.

And if we wanted to read something she thought might upset or disturb us, she would explain why. She wouldn't stop us from reading it - just ask us to check in with her, to talk through it.

And so when I read something that upset or disturbed me, I would go to her. She would listen and talk through it with me.

If she said she didn't think I would like something, or that a book might disturb me, or that she thought I should wait until I was older, I listened to her.

She didn't need restrictions or control to protect me. Because she proved I could trust her.

Controlling kids is never about "protecting" them. It's just about control.

one thing that is often lost on modern audiences watching the Back to the Future series is that, in 1985, the DeLorean was well known for being a shitty car. The only reason the DMC DeLorean is remembered fondly today is because of BTTF; had the movie never happened, it would’ve been one of those fancy cars lost to time and remembered only by car nerds (trust me, there’s examples of this). Potentially the primary reason for choosing the DeLorean to be the time machine is because of how notoriously bad it was. We even see Marty question Doc’s choice to use a DeLorean, and at the climax of the first movie we see the car fail to start when Marty is lined up to drive towards the wire. The DeLorean was known for being overly heavy, clunky, prone to breaking down, and annoying to maintain.

Basically, what I’m saying is, if Back to the Future was made today, they’d use a Cybertruck.

After seeing Representative Zephyr kick major legislature ass, she deserves to wield a massive mallet in the chambers.

Seeing clips of Zooey Zephyr stand up against anti-trans legislation has helped renew hope in me that there are ways we can still fight horrendous policies targeting queer people. She is an inspiration and I cannot express how much I appreciate having her fighting in the fray for our rights. Representation definitely does matter.

I keep shooting myself in the foot when it comes to sharing worldbuilding stuff, I have so many thoughts and characters and places and lore bits I CAN talk about, and SHOULD be throwing out into the world, but I get paralyzed because I never know which direction to go in

do I talk about my city with the largest library and school in the known history of the world?? and how it teaches any skill and any subject to anyone who comes seeking?

do I talk about how magic in this world comes from the decomposing forms of monolithic entities that embody primal chaos, tempered over time by the perfection of order and structure provided by incomprehensible entities beyond the astral plane?? and how the existence of world is a never ending cycle between these forces of chaos and order??

do I talk about my zodiac calendar and how the constellations themselves, older than the gods, are the final line of overseers before the entities beyond the astral plane??

or my tribe of elves that previously worshipped said constellations that have now been turned into a cult that is unknowingly in the process of reviving a dead god??

or my other tribe of elves who, after failing to bring this now-dead god into the mortal plane eons ago, disappeared underneath the earth to search for his scattered remnants??

do I talk about how all the people in this world are born intersex??

For me it wasn’t a store, and nothing like hordes of new packages

It was just Christmas at my grandma’s. I was sitting at the little round table by the living room (arguably part of the living room, but the couches sorta separate it, the windowed ‘hall’ beside the kitchen, and the bar counter from the main space), and unwrapped a familiar domed plastic tube: an unopened original Toa Mata Lewa. I grinned and opened it, and the smell of the manufactured plastic hit me. I commented on it, and my family, sitting in the living room proper, laughed at me. I explained and they nodded, but they didn’t really get it. I moved to put him together and woke up.

I sometimes have a recurring dream about walking into target or w/e and finding bionicles on the shelf, and I recently learned that within the community of people who still like bionicles this is referred to as “The Dream” and happens to everyone

I’m transfem but I’ve seen info that suggests Finasteride+T can help, but not completely prevent, changes beyond fat redistribution and vocal deepening. It’ll definitely prevent male pattern baldness at least.
