Hey there! I can't see when your last post was, so I was just wondering if you were still continuing this blog as of July 1, 2015? I found this blog this morning and it is amazing! This is practically my dream blog! Anyway, I have a couple of requests. I assume you like Dangaronpa, so I would I like to request Tanaka and Fukawa. I would also love a Komaeda analysis, but I know there are a lot of them out there already. Also, I would love to know what other fandoms you like future reference.
Tbh I’ve had it in the back of my head to ressurect this blog countless times, but it never really came to me.

Also, I apologize that these analyses are taking so long. Recently my depression's been getting to me and I've also been kinda busy with homework and shit.

I was surprised you didn't input any information in your analysis of Kuwata from the extra information you get from learning about his cousin on the kill list in dr:ae
That's mostly because I would rather not talk about his cousin. She dances on the line between just sort of being gross and seriously making me uncomfortable.

May I ask for an Izuru Kamukura analysis?
Alright!
I apologize for being so slow with these.

Just an add-on to your Kuwata analysis. While he is a normal teen guy and likes cute girls a lot, he's also shown to be quite respectful to them, in-game he stopped Yamada from making lewd comments that made Asahina uncomfortable and overall snarks at his perverted ways. While he does make certain questionable comments to Naegi, I think it's more to try and 'look cool' or what he thinks it's cool, rather than what he actually thinks.
Yeah, he's actually like. An ANTI-PERVERT, if that's even a thing.

Leon Kuwata - Dangan Ronpa
You know what needs to die? Fucking weenie jokes, man.
This is both an analysis, and an explanation as to why they should die.
Leon isn't a pervert, by the way. I hate how people write him off as "red Souda". They have many similar traits, but they are not the same. That's like calling Maizono "blue Sonia".
I can't get into his backstory, mostly because he doesn't have one. If you want to hear me rant about this stuff, just read my Wakabayashi analysis where I get into that.
However, there is one thing I CAN discuss(and I'll probably be more in-depth with it when and if I talk about Leosaya), is that in the manga, he did actually have feelings for Maizono. It was a ploy on Maizono's part so she could kill him, but he did genuinely like her. They really should have had this in the game. Without it, people see Leon as kind of an asshole.
If I'm correct, here's how it went down:
Okay, so the stuff with the knife and the protective sword happens. Leon unlocks the door with his screwdriver and tries to calm Maizono down, however, he forgets to put down the kitchen knife. Through a series of events, Maizono ends up struggling against him, and he accidentally stabs her in the stomach.
So here's part 1 of my debunking of the weenie joke. Assuming that kind of thing happened with a girl he had a crush on, he'd probably be both dumbfounded and incredibly guilty. His hiding of the evidence was shoddy at best, probably because he wasn't really thinking straight at the time.
The other facts to tear it down?
Well, tell me this. Who was THE VERY FIRST STUDENT IN THE HISTORY OF EVER TO BE EXECUTED? Leon. So nobody really knew what to expect. So, obviously, he'd be at the very least a little apprehensive and he'd lose his damn composure.
And let's not forget he has probably the most physically brutal execution in the DR series. This was quoted from Tumblr user mervolio:
"the average baseball pitching machine can throw at roughly 98 mph frankly i wouldn’t be surprised if leon was dead before it even got to 1,000 so all the kids just had to stand there and watch this limp corpse get beaten to probably literally somewhat of a meaty bloody pulp before the execution was over"
There is no reason to refer to him as a "weenie" for his actions during the trial. If you were the first person to be executed without any idea how people were executed, I think you'd assume it's brutal and lose your marbles a little, too!
I know it seems like I'm making a big deal out of this, but Leon, along with Nidai, was probably one of the ones that got hit hardest with the character misconception jokes. It's not funny, it just degenerates and flanderizes multi-layered characters with tons of depth.
Now, I think we can move on.
Leon's personality isn't super complicated, mostly because he was executed first, but he definitely does have a personality. He's a bit brash and unintelligent(or maybe he just doesn't think before doing things), but his heart is in the right place most of the time. He's at least trying to be decent.
The wiki describes him as "hot-blooded", but I feel like "incredibly passionate about everything he does" is a much more fitting description. Though he does tend to lose his temper, he always sort of bounces back into his generally good mood. Even after killing off Sayaka, he hauls ass and disposes of the evidence as best he can despite his fear and guilt. He's very, very diligent in that way.
He's one of those characters who tries to act really cool to impress people, but in reality is a huge nerdlord. This along with his dyed hair is probably where people get the "red Souda"/"pink Leon" crap from. The big dividing difference between Leon and Souda is that Leon is nowhere NEAR as sensitive. If he's insulted, he'll just look a little shocked and quietly assume that the insult was a lie.
He does actually enjoy baseball, by the way. He wants to get into writing music, and thus he probably is trying to cut himself off from his former interest. However he does state that he misses baseball, and even asks Naegi if he'd like to play some when they get out in one of his FTEs.
What he really wants is to be payed attention to, liked, validated, etc etc etc. He basically wants to be loved and adored like any other stereotypical teenage boy. He's actually probably one of the most realistically written characters in the entire DR series. I'm not sure if that's really saying much, but hey, it's something.

It'd be quite interesting to see an analysis of Hinata from you. PS: I think I just found my new favorite blogger on tumblr.
Tumblr media
Why thank you! Hinata has been added.
Also, to the Sal anon, I'll probably do him after Souichi for a couple reasons.

Satoru Wakabayashi - Liar Liar (Pants on Fire)
Tumblr media
Being one of the fandoms I am most active in as of now, it was only a matter of time before I decided to talk about Liar Liar. And who better to talk about then my...uh, second-favorite character?
But what is it that makes Wakabayashi so likeable?
Absolutely nothing.
Have you ever heard someone lovingly refer to their favorite character as something/someone along the lines of a shitty trash baby who should trip on a banana peel and fall off a cliff? Yeah, that's basically why everyone in the LL fandom finds Wakabayashi so endearing. Even Tokimekiwaku themself feels this way.
I would get into backstory mode, but, hehe...Wakabayashi doesn't have one.
This is an effect I'd like to call First To Die Syndrome. When a character dies soon or otherwise gets little screen time after their first appearance, and thus, has no speakable backstory or personality development of any kind.
Some falling under this massive umbrella include but are not limited to:
Tumblr media
Tsumura (Uzumaki)
Leon Kuwata (Dangan Ronpa)
Idate (Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea)
And plenty, plenty of others.
It's a hard thing to avoid. Even if the character just leaves the series late, they still don't usually have enough time to develop. This is why it's tricky to kill off characters in and of itself. (Homestuck bypassed this with time shenanigans that are too complicated to discuss, so if you wanna go that route, more power to you, I guess.)
Sadly, Wakabayashi falls under this umbrella as well. So I will try as best I can.
Wakabayashi's most glaring trait is that he has an ego so large, it wouldn't fit in the Empire State Building. Most of the girls at his school feed his ego quite a bit. It's been shown that he tends to get incredibly scared and confused when either insulted or backed into a corner.
Tumblr media
He's so used to constantly being complimented and treated like a god by his peers. Everybody just seems to love this sick, creepy theater boy.
It took me ten years to find this chart, but it's been stated time and time again that Wakabayashi is a total masochist. He is also apparently a cannibal, according to that. He's a real sick motherfucker.
Though we don't know much about his family life, we learn a bit about him in Liar Liar 2. He apparently stalked Miho excessively during middle school, taking pictures of her and sending her "lewd" notes. This drove Miho to ask Yukari to kill him in exchange for a clean uniform, as well as some other help to reach her personal goals.
He also appears to have a sadistic side, as shown in his bad end, "Wakabayashi Night Fever". If you let him off the hook, he'll brutally murder both you and Miho because you know too much about his stalking.
Tumblr media
He's not a complicated character, really. He speaks very eloquently and tries to make himself seem better than he actually is. Kon from tokimekiwaku's Magical Girl: Ganguro and Neet series is very similar to him.
I had to make this bitesized because there's not much for me to say about Wakabayashi. He lives very shortly. He's a sick, gross little man, and that's all we know.

According to the Wiki, it seems that Masaru Daimon lived with his father who was an alcoholic and physically abused him. It would explain why Masaru kept beating up his arm in his 'breakdown'.
I actually have yet to see his breakdown, so if someone could send it to me, that'd be way cool.

Leon Kuwata?
I'll put him on the request list. Though, there is a little thing that makes him hard to discuss, which I'll be mentioning in my next analysis.

Jatarou Kemuri - Dangan Ronpa: Another Episode
Have I ever told you that in DR:AE, if Nagisa is my favorite character then Jatarou is probably my second-favorite? No? Well, now you know.
He's sort of an odd character. He perpetually seems to stop sentences short to rant and rave about anything at all. His introduction is a perfect example:
"Ah--wait . . . can I practice my introduction beforehand? Bicycle wheels... when I stare at them it makes me kind of anxious, y'know? If you stuck your hand in while the wheel was moving, it would hurt! Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. Aa--I'm Jataro Kemuri. Why is it that the skin of birds not taste better? My speciality is art, so I was named 'Ultimate Arts Period'. I'm capable of anything to do with art, my ability with things like nail pullers and lacquer is perfect. For the Warriors of Hope, I'm in charge of the "Priests". Aa--I wonder if insects really come from space? Ugh... what do I say--I'm the Priest, Jataro Kemuri."
Another little thing about his personality is that he is very accepting, and almost welcoming of hate. It states on his wiki page that he hates anyone who doesn't hate him...as well as the drum type of washing machines, apparently.
Backstory time!!
A weird thing you may or may not know is that Jatarou was implied to be living alone for most of his childhood. According to Kotoko, his parents "weren't around".
Digging slightly deeper, apparently while they were "around", they were very verbally abusive towards Jatarou. He was told he should die by his own mother and father on the rare occasion that they did interact, but any other time he was neglected. This is a personal headcanon, but I always felt like this was why he wore the mask -- to hide his "ugly" face from his family. This may also have to do with why he's okay with being hated.
After awhile, his parents apparently abandon him. He prefers negative attention over none at all, and thus, allows the other Warriors of Hope(mainly Monaka and Kotoko) to verbally abuse him as well.
Since we're on backstory, let's sit here and ask what kind of impression this left. If we asked Jatarou why he wanted to kill adults, what do you think he would say? I think he'd say it's because they didn't pay attention to him. He doesn't really seem to mind being hated, and still considers the other warriors his friends.
He never really seems particularly sad about anything. He gets nervous and shaky, but never like, Nagisa or Kotoko level "Holy shit the tears are crying" levels of sad. He also seems easily excitable, namely in a scene where in response to the idea of a child's paradise he begins...making chicken noises?
He tends to get shot down by his peers quickly, though, so most of the time his happiness is VERY short-lived.
I dunno what their problem is...Look at his face!
His biggest fear certainly has nothing to do with being hated. Maybe just being ignored, since that seems to bother him much, much more. He prefers being ignored entirely, though whether or not eternal personal neglect would be a FEAR rather than a DISLIKE is debatable. He may not really be afraid of much of anything.
Jatarou is a very odd character in that way. He doesn't seem to have any distinct dislikes, fears, he doesn't even really get angry with anybody ever. He's just sort of a semi-benign force that floats around like a very tiny balloon that screams about bicycle wheels.
But here's a weird thing that I wonder: Does Jatarou honestly hate it when people DON'T dislike him? It's sort of weird. I don't know if he enjoys being hated or merely allows it, and I feel as though the rest of the fandom feels the same way. He's a really odd, hard-to-read character in that regard.
I hope to see more of him from Spike Chunsoft in the future. Maybe I'll re-do this if he ever comes back. Jatarou isn't Keiko Goshima-level absolutely impossible to talk about, but it's definitely hard, I'll tell you that much.
TL:DR, Jatarou is perfect.
