Her mother had forced her out of the house for a day of prom dress shopping and to say the blonde wasn’t enjoying it would be an understatement. The colorful, frilly dress was quite literally the last thing she would ever choose to go out in public in, let alone wear for an entire night. “Does anyone actually enjoy wearing this shit? I feel like a three year old going through her mom’s stuff and playing dress up. Definitely going to be a huge no from me.” 

Alejandro looked at her, he thought the dress looked nice. But laughed at her comment. “Maybe it’s the dress, maybe you should go with something sexier than that. The fairy-god mother called, she wants Cinderella’s dress back.” He teased.

“So.. are you gonna leave your door unlocked for the whole prom kidnapping thing?” he asked the random person beside him. He knew that the tradition had been canceled but, he assumed most people would still do it anyway. He just wasn’t too sure how he felt about participating himself. “I don’t know if I’m gonna do it. My luck, I’d be the one to end up getting kidnapped for real and stabbed to death” he mused with a soft chuckle.

Alejandro looked up at him then laughed. “Do you really think people are going to do it?” He asked. “I really don’t think they, not this year.” He shrugged. “Maybe you shouldn’t be that popular?  Then people wouldn’t kidnap you?” He teased as ed playfully winked at him. “This sounds like you a problem.”

“You will never believe this bullshit.” Georgie sighed, leaning against the wall in the hallway. “I was taking the elevator and some guy from down the hall yelled ‘you have to push the button’ like he was being helpful reminding me how to use a fucking elevator. Then he walked over and was like ‘oh, you already did.’ I was so close to decking him in the face.”

“Damn I’m sorry.” He said with a sympathetic smile. “Even though I’m against violence, sometimes you need help rearrange  their throat chakra.” He shrugged. “But then again you’d be wrong if you did.”

Alejandro pushed harder on the petal, as he pushed the limits of car. His heart was pumping, the thrill of speed was exciting him even more. “I’m glad your dad took your normal keys.”

“Who said anything about stealing?” She raised a brow, grinning and clearly teasing him, but it was harmless teasing and she didn’t mean anything by it. “Doing something wild doesn’t necessarily mean hurting someone else. It just means… letting loose, feeling free. You don’t even need to do anything bad to get that feeling. Just… something crazy. Like, cliff diving or taking a walk through the woods when you shouldn’t or something like that.” 

“I don’t know, cliff diving sounds like pretty dangerous to me. Who just willingly throw themselves off a cliff for fun? I’m trying to figure who the person who thought it was a good idea.” He shrugged. “I feel like something like that started with ‘hold my beer.’” He shrugged. “Ever heard of better safe than sorry? I don’t know about but that’s my motto.”

Taking a drink she nodded her head with a soft smile and agreed. “Who would ever argue of the wisdom, of a woman who lived that long?” she stated with her agreeing with him. “I know I wouldn’t” she giggled as she leaned back onto her elbows, to relax some more. “Besides, it’s more dangerous. My luck I’d run right into a tree. Not even going to lie” she laughed at the thought of herself smacking right into a tree.

“My point, she’s seen everything and done everything.” He laughed along with her. “I think my ego wouldn’t let me tell anyone I ran into a tree. I think I would lie and say I was mugged or I didn’t buy girl scout cookies.” He replied with a shrug. “I don’t think you could ever live that down. Like imagine that shit, you could have just found the cure to aids but someone in the back yells ‘but you still ran into a tree withcho dumbass.’“

“No, but who does like corn? It’s like second to rice.” He said with a shrug. “But I could be wrong.” He grinned as he said he had good taste. “Well cause,” He paused. “I don’t know, they’re funny and yeah.”

“I don’t think there is any help for them at this point” she teased, lightly, her tone filled with mirth. Nodding her head to his next statement she could definitely relate. “That is very true, and there is nothing wrong with that either” she assured. He had captured her full attention again as he began to talk about El Cuco, and how he was scary, and he had heard about someone who had seen it. “I don’t think I would ever want to see it” she stated. “I mean, I’m kind of a see it to believe it type of girl. But, I think I’m just gonna take your word on this one” she smiled.

Alejandro was glad someone at least remotely believed him. Normally most people would laugh at his beliefs but she didn’t. It made him feel better. “I’m not, if you say there’s a monster, I’m going to believe you and then run away. I know in danger I’m flyer not a fighter.” He laughed. “Yeah I didn’t have a typical childhood. While other kids went to sleep listening to Snow white, Jack and the bean stock, I got told all kinds of other stories.”

Watching everyone run off to do their thing, Jasey took a sip of her beer as she watched the fire. Not really feeling up to playing along or anything, she just felt like relaxing by the fire and enjoying her beer. Snapping out of her trance she laughed softly. “Sorry, I was like lost in the flames, and thoughts.” she cleared her throat as she shrugged. “Not, really. Sometimes it’s just nice to relax and not participate in ignorance” she joked as she snorted with a soft laughter. “What about you?” she asked him curiously.

She made a valid point. He stared into the fire for a brief moment. The boy was considering telling her the truth. Last time he told someone, why didn’t play in the dark, they laughed at him. He titled his head and looked at her. “My grandma said it was bad luck to play in the dark. She lived to be hundred years old. I think there something she was doing right. So I’m take her word for it.”

He caught the keys and looked down. With the biggest smile, Alejandro unlocked the door. Like a child in a candy store, Alejandro stared into the beautiful car. He adjusted his seat and pulled off to one of the back roads. “This is fucking amazing!”

“Not that I don’t totally respect you for that, ‘cause I do, but,” she paused, taking a sip of her drink, “don’t you ever, like, want to get out and let loose, take some risks? Maybe it’s the rebel in me speaking, but life doesn’t seem worth living if I’m not doing something crazy every now and then.” 

Had Alejandro ever wanted to try doing something wild? Yes, very once has. But he knew his parents would be upset and he didn’t like upsetting them. The boy would feel conscience if he ever did anything. It would eat him alive until he told the truth. “Sometimes but I think is it worth it? Like if I steal, why? It’s hurting someone’s affect by it. It just doesn’t feel right.”

“I think the most grown crop are corn so I think we have enough corn in this world.” He replied with a shrug. “I think Wanda Skyes, Anjelah Johnson and Trevor Noah are funny. Wild ‘n out, Brooklyn Nine-Nine Broad City are gold!.”
