trying to decide what kind of job i'd like for kay to have in her timeskip/aa4-6 era verse... private detective is an easy one, and i do think it fits, but i'd like to come up with other ideas as well. idk.

i thought having her as involved in criminology somehow would be cool......... but i don't know about an actual more specific job position, and idk how much it really fits. i really need to go back and watch the end of aai2 to get a better idea of what her goals were too, i think??

suddenly thinking about edgeworth and athena friendship potential........... i think i'd enjoy it because they don't necessarily seem like two people who'd get along to others?? so it'd be kind of unexpected to everyone. and unexpected friendships are some of my favorite dynamics tbh

Somehow, Phoenix manages to surprise him. And he always manages to say exactly what Edgeworth needs to hear.

His words are somehow just enough to ground him, the floor slowly becoming more stable underneath his feet. It doesn't stop the flow of fear that's swept through him, and he still can feel his heart pounding in his chest just the same, but at least he doesn't feel one second away from fainting.

To be honest, he... doesn't know how to respond. After all the shocks and sudden turns he's experienced in his life, Edgeworth didn't think there could possibly be anything that'd make him feel this way again - yet here he is, feeling completely and utterly overwhelmed. But it's somewhat comforting to hear Wright's words - to know that he's there for him, and that he'd even back off if it's what Edgeworth wanted. Somehow, that's... deeply touching, in a way that makes him feel almost embarrassed as it hits him just how grateful he is to have such a friend once again.

"I... thank you, Wright. I apologize for losing my cool." A word of gratitude; an apology - they're not enough to convey his feelings, but it's clear that he's trying to pull himself together first. "To be honest, I... I think I need to think about it more. I'm barely able to process any of this, really."

Instinctively, he's torn two ways at once. The desire to let it go, to pack it up in a box and never think about it again is undeniably tempting, yet... above all else, Edgeworth is someone who believes in continuously searching for the truth. That philosophy has guided him for a long time, now, and will do so for many more years to come. Would it really be right to blatantly turn his back on it now?

"Somehow, you always end up right in the middle of these things... I suppose that's normal for us now, isn't it?"

the concept of black locks, and their meaning, is completely lost on phoenix who before today only knew of their red coloured counterparts which only symbolised when someone was purposefully hiding something... could this potentially be a way of the magatama telling him that this was something subconscious? something that not even edgeworth himself knew about?

a secret so strong that the subconscious hides it to protect the individual?

if anyone would know about what this all means it would be either pearl or maya but right now, asking for their help after everything which has happened isn't something phoenix is willing to do. this was something he would attempt to figure out by himself - or if edgeworth was willing, to figure it out together. though the face he was currently pulling was a great indicator to phoenix that none of this was particularly a good idea in this moment.

phoenix's own panic subsides for a few seconds as he attemps to think deeply about the cause of this - why those particular words had set off the locks in the first place. but then he takes in edgeworth's discomfort over the situation, over this - and whatever it is that he's introduced him to regarding the spiritual world.

" we... don't have to look into this y'know. " he responds after some very long seconds, the determined look in his eyes no longer there as it's replaced with something far more empathetic. " whatever these black locks are... whatever they mean for you. I'd follow you to search for any truth you know this, but if this is truly something you don't wanna know... I won't search for it either. "

a sobering response, one that if edgeworth were to look deeply into would find something else that phoenix keeps deeply hidden, because he would go to the ends of the earth finding out the truth should he ask. or not, if the DL-6 case was remembered, but they've both grown since then, and the magatama's taught phoenix that some truths are better left alone.

back on my "craving supernatural plots and character reactions to the supernatural" agenda again......... it will always come back. my constant obsession in every fandom.

anyway today i'm thinking about blackquill and edgeworth being pulled into a dangerous (maybe horror, maybe not) supernatural secret scenario and all that would entail......... i'd also just like blackquill & edgeworth dynamics in general tbh. but other characters trying to investigate what my edgeworth and/or blackquill are hiding would also be really fun! the possibilities are endless!
