ever since you posted those ezra and easton doodles all the way back from 2018 in the shaderunners comment section and they've been living in my mind for 1 MILLION years, i was wondering if there are more posts like this on your blog or anywhere else? And if you could share them? I miss scruffy easton so bad you have no idea. you have no idea. god. WOW.
(Also cause I've been scrolling for like 10 minutes and I'm only slightly worried that I'm searching for, like, the One Piece or something LOL)
I'm guessing you mean this one?

There is more Shaderunners art on @shaderunnerscomic, tagged as 'Alex's art' and with whatever character is in the pic. Here are a couple more Ezra/Easton sketches that I don't think I've ever posted there, though:

Enjoy!

It's a few days late, but July 1st was Shaderunners' 10-year anniversary. Today, I'd like to tell you a little bit about how the comic came to be, and what it's come to mean for Lin and me.
Lin and I met on LiveJournal over 15 years ago, and over time our friendship has grown until we could no longer imagine who we would be without the other. Once we shared our work with one another, we became each other's biggest fans, and from there creative collaboration was the natural next step.
We live so far away, when we started working on Shaderunners we'd never even met in real life. When we finally did, though, the time we spent together was so wonderful, we decided to make an effort to visit each other at least once a year. We have been there for each other through personal victories, career changes, relocation, gender transition, heartbreak, loss, creative challenges, and more and more and more. When we started publishing Shaderunners, we knew it would be a big project, but I don't think either of us expected it to last over a decade. It's been such a wild ride, and so many things have changed, but our commitment to the comic and our love for the characters, the story, and to each other never wavered. There is no one I would rather have gone on this artistic journey with than Lin - we are each other's creative soulmates.
Shaderunners is a product of our friendship, and we create it for ourselves and for each other above all, but from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who has stuck with it through the years. Now that it's growing ever closer, we hope that you enjoy the story's ending.
Read Shaderunners from the beginning 💚

🌈 Queer Webcomic Spotlight: Shaderunners 🌈

This Pride Month, we'll be sharing some recommendations for webcomics that feature queer characters and storylines! Today, we'd like to tell you about Shaderunners (@shaderunnerscomic), an alternate history noir comic by the writer Lin Darrow and the artist @alexassan.

A thousand years ago, the last colour in the world faded to grey. Now, after a great archaeological discovery, it stands ready to enter the world again. Ironwell City will become the birthplace of a burgeoning new industry, where colour is pumped out of factories, poured into perfumed bottles and sold at exorbitant prices to those wealthy enough to afford it. Now, in the city’s shadows, a group of ragtag bootleggers and bohemians band together to steal colour from the wealthy echelons of the city’s high society. Among them: a philosopher, a puppeteer, a gutter rat, an opera singer, a naval officer – and a hopeless romantic. Together, they run The Glass Dial, former watch shop and future speakeasy, where all the drinks run red.

If you'd like to help support these wonderful comics and the collective, reblogging our posts goes a long way. And of course, make sure to follow this account if you'd like to see more webcomic spotlights like this 🩵🩷 💛

It's webcomic day, and I make a webcomic! A pure labor of love by myself and writer Lin Darrow, Shaderunners is soon to be ten years old and still going strong, now in its final act. If you like the Jazz Age, heists, messy characters, queer romances and anti-capitalist themes, you might like it! Pages go up twice a week, and you can read the whole thing for free right here 🍸
#shaderunners#webcomicday#webcomic day#queer webcomic#reblogs appreciated thank you everybody !!!#i don't post about it nearly as much as i should because i'm busy actually making the thing#but shaderunners is mine and lin's child and i love it more than words can describe#it's just like.. it's just good honestly it's a great comic we work very hard on and i'm proud of it

The House Was a Funeral Pyre | Louis/Lestat, 74.5k words, rated explicit.
In the cold grime of 1910 Paris, with loud steps over wet pavement, an inebriated group of young bohemians were exiting a small theater and making their way home. They were shouting, rambunctious with laughter, and one of the men was dancing, bathed in the streetlight glow. He was beautiful. Louis watched from the above in the dark, from the top of the steps leading down to the dirty path. He stood between the shadows, and for the first time in almost one hundred years, felt the draw of the warm light below.
My Louis/Lestat role reversal AU fic is finally complete! There's seven chapters, each corresponding with an episode of season one, plus an epilogue. I worked really hard on this story, and I'm honestly pretty proud of it. If you choose to read it, I hope you enjoy!

Shaderunners returns November 3rd!
The third and final act of the story begins with two pages per week on Sundays and Wednesdays! The chapter is already complete, so updates will be consistent until mid-March at least. Thank you sincerely for your patience while we were on hiatus.
We were originally planning on dropping each chapter in its entirety once it was completed, but after receiving some feedback from readers we decided to return to our previous update schedule instead. We hope that you enjoy the upcoming chapter!

Sunhead, my upcoming graphic novel, will be available from May 7th!
Rotem is a teenage girl absolutely obsessed with a vampire romance novel called Sunrise. Even though she is surrounded by people who love her, none of them understand her strange fixation with the book and its main character, the vampire Edmund. When Rotem’s shy classmate Ayala shows an interest in Sunrise, the two start bond over their shared enthusiasm for the book. As they become closer, though, the lines between the fictional romance and the girls’ real-life friendship begin to blur…
Sunhead will be published by HarperAlley.
#i promise not to spam with promo post that's what twitter and instagram are for#but i thought some of you might like to know about this shrug emoji#it is very different from the stuff i usually draw though so i don't expect a lot of crossover audience#graphic novel#sunhead#my art

PSA for those following me for Shaderunners:
First of all, you guys are the best.
Second, things are moving along very nicely. The next THREE chapters are fully sketched (that's half the final book!!) and I'm starting on lineart soon. Lin has completely finished the script, too.
The reason this is taking so long is not because I've lost interest or anything remotely like that. I'm as passionate and dedicated to the project as I ever was. I was simply busy with my graphic novel, and since Shaderunners isn't really paid I unfortunately can't prioritise it over contractual obligations :'( still, I do my best to find pockets of time to work on it.
I don't want to jerk our readers around, so I won't start posting the next chapter until it is fully finished. I know it can be frustrating to constantly start and stop. But rest assured - the final act is happening !!!
#thank you all for sticking with us you're literally the best most wonderful readers anyone could ever ask for#and if you stopped reading/want to wait until it's finished that's very cool too#i can't stress enough that this comic is going to reach its ending and will not be dropped#the end is in sight even which is very very exciting and crazy to think about#anyway. thanks again love you all xoxo gossip girl#shaderunners
