with the new john mulaney special out i just want everyone to know that it's not because of his divorce that i refuse to watch it. honestly, i think how the internet handled that was weird. it was a personal romantic relationship that we didn't have all the information on, and as someone who had an addiction problem i'm not going to judge him for making (what looks like to us) a bad decision right after he got out of rehab, and if you would i think you need to look inside yourself as to why you think that's okay. i'm not saying i loved watching that, but i think we need to have grace for people in difficult situations and i normally would want to hear his side, perhaps even through a comedy special!
why i refuse to watch the new special or engage with his content is he openly and happily platformed a transphobe right after he started getting heat for being openly transphobic. i'm not letting that go.

Remember that weird phase Tumblr went through in which it was firmly believed that lesbians were the only non-cishet women who don't face concrete violence due to everyone misreading of a study?
You know, the one that brought to light the insane rates of sexual violence bi women face at the hands of intimate partners (which is great that it's being acknowledged), and no one bothered to read that according to that study, while lesbian face less IPV overall women by sexuality, we face MORE sexual violence at the hands of cis men than cishet women despite us not dating them, which means they actively seek us out, and while lower than bi women's rates of victimization, we were still close, and much closer to them than cishet women.
And you know. Lesbicides are a thing too. But sure, no one attacks lesbians because not dating men makes us somehow removed from patriarchal violence. 👍🏻

so many of y’all are too busy trying to define lesbianism as explicitly inclusive of men and making sure we’re nice and palatable to straight people and making people feel secure in the fact that anyone can still like men, even the dykes! that you straight up ignore or erase the very prominent part of lesbophobia that comes from us not liking men, and you talk over and ignore us whenever we talk about how isolating it is to not like men when everyone else around you does because it doesn’t fit your narrative that queer labels and identities are one-size-fits-all and the mere idea of lesbians existing shatters your ideal world where everyone has wiggle room in their sexuality. reinventing the “lesbians aren’t exclusive, there’s a man for everyone! they just need need to find Mr Right” isn’t progressive just because you throw in a couple buzzwords that sound good and give people warm and fuzzies
