SJ getting truth potioned but in a way where he's forced to say his true thoughts is such a great trope to me.

Like at first nobody notices anything different, he's not one to hide his hatred to someone, though his words have been a bit kinder recently to those who have his favor(which is like almost nobody)

Its not until the next peak lord meeting that people realize what's up. To the other Peak Lords he's acting completely normal until he accidentally calls Yue Qingyuan, "Qi-ge"

Everyone pauses and has to do a double take at the suspiciously affection nickname Shen Qingqiu called the sect leader.

SQQ tries to play it off but HE CANT LIE! He has to admit that yes, he did say that. Eventually he gets so upset that he can't say what he's thinking and instead Is saying the truth, that he turns to the sect leader to shout an "I HATE YOU." And instead he announces that he loves the sect leader.

Infront. Of. Everyone.

I see this, I love this, but consider also: instead of replacing “I hate you” with “I love you”, it becomes “I hate myself”

Personally I’m not sure even a truth potion could neatly sort out the complex emotions SJ has about YQ immediately into love. But, the constant, most basic emotion SJ runs on 24/7 is self loathing.

He declares in front of god and everyone that he hates himself? Ofc YQ is going to follow him. Then we get some really delicious questioning about why does Xiao Jiu hate himself. Of course it eventually gets back to “I’m inherently unlovable because not even you cared enough to come back for me, and I think you were right to, because my presence is a poison” THEN we can get YQ clearing up the caves situation and have SJ hiccuping and crying on the ground and saying I love you. Once he’s been emotionally exhausted like this he’s also more likely to seek comfort, so we can have Qijiu cuddles almost immediately

I found these notes on my phone for a beefleaf animatic, but I didn’t say what song and now I can’t recall. Can anything think of what song might fit this structure? The only clue I have is “someone else” and I have no idea what song that’s talking about now. Past me, why did you do this?

First verse into first chorus - young He Xuan is happy with his family, but leads into the venerable of empty words then leading to death (someone else = Shi Wudu)

Second verse into second chorus - becoming a ghost then becoming a calamity into deciding to pretend to be Ming Yi (someone else = Ming Yi)

Musical interlude - bonding with Shi Qingxuan

3rd chorus - revealing the truth and preparing to take revenge (someone else = terrified Shi Qingxuan)

End of 3rd chorus into 4th chorus option 1 - killing Shi Wudu at the end and then time passes leading to him seeing homeless + happy Shi Qingxuan at the end and seeing himself in his memories with them together (someone else = his past, happier self) (angsty ending)

End of 3rd chorus into 4th chorus option 2 - preparing to kill Shi Wudu, but seeing memories of Shi Qingxuan and not being able to lose them -> not being able to do it end the end and instead letting Shi Qingxuan go and they smile at him (someone else = the happier person he wants to be) (hopeful ending)

My sister and I were discussing a medical procedure I need to have and how the egged with radiation taste the same as the normal eggs, so they need signs on the fridges saying “radiation eggs - do not feed to regular patients.”

And of course that made me think of “dead dove do not eat.” Except if “dead dove do not eat” means “this is exactly what it says on the tin,” then we decided that “radiation eggs do not eat” means “this is going to look normal for a really long time, then hit you with a really intense tag right at the end.” Like, a 200,000 word fanfic with surprise mpreg or watersports in the final chapter.

Anyway, now I really want that to be a term! Give me all the promises of tags yet to come!

Qijiu's reunion at the Immortal Alliance Conference could have so easily gone differently. If Yue Qi had had the time to express joy over Shen Jiu's survival, before Shen Jiu got angry at apparently being abandoned for a better life, and before Yue Qi then assumed that the failed rescue was the unforgivable harm rather than the apparent failure to return at all, they might have gotten somewhere.

But, you know, another way things could have gone differently is Yue Qi and Shen Jiu not coming face-to-face and recognizing each other at the same time. It could have been one or the other.

Wu Yanzi presumably can't slip into the conference because he's (not invited and also) a wanted criminal, but he might have been able to send his apprentice in to walk around, with Shen Jiu pretending to be just another random disciple among the crowd. If Shen Jiu had disguised himself to enter the conference early, he could have easily seen Head Disciple of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect Yue Qingyuan in a position of dutiful prominence during some opening speech, without Yue Qi noticing him in return.

The conclusions that Shen Jiu would jump to without any indication Yue Qi even remembers him? Bad. Obviously, the only thing to do there is take furious revenge and completely ruin this Yue Qingyuan's beautiful new life somehow.

Likewise, if Shen Jiu had been wandering around the conference to scope out the valuables, Yue Qi could have seen him through the crowd without being noticed in return. Maybe CQMS's head disciple is better situated making the mingling rounds rather than standing up somewhere with the talking heads. Before Shen Jiu knows what's happening here, he's being accosted in a quiet corner by some young master on the verge of crying on his stolen uniform. He just barely manages not to stab this guy about it.

"Xiao-Jiu, you're alive! I came back for you but I was too late and found that awful place burned to the ground! Nobody knew where you'd gone. You're a disciple of Huan Hua Palace now? I'm so happy for you!" this person says, beaming with ugly joy- wait, is this...? "I'm so sorry that Qi-Ge was so useless."

Shen Jiu barely manages to stumble out of this conversation without passing out. Yue Qi gets dragged away by some Cang Qiong master for some social responsibility, clinging to Shen Jiu's hands and swearing to find him later, and he thinks Shen Jiu is a Huan Hua Palace disciple. What was Shen Jiu supposed to say to that assumption? That he's actually lying scum?!

Shen Jiu now has to survive this conference without Yue Qi finding out the truth and without Wu Yanzi finding out about Yue Qi. Upping the tension of this fic idea: maybe Wu Yanzi does find out that Shen Jiu knows the head disciple of CQMS. (Maybe Wu Yanzi was lurking around the edges in disguise as well. Maybe Wu Yanzi witnesses some later conversation between Qijiu.) Wu Yanzi now wants to use Shen Jiu as an "in" to rob or otherwise harm CQMS.

If Shen Jiu is the one who saw Yue Qi first and jumped to angry conclusions and revenge plans about it, maybe the spiteful Shen Jiu likes the idea of reuniting with Yue Qi just to fuck him over like that. He's going to regret that pretty quickly, though.

Well in my world it's been theorized that impregnating a man would not be beyond the powers of a demon lord, but I haven't allowed Binghe to try and figure out if it's true. Ha! With all the ridiculous shit Airplane added to my world I wouldn't be surprised if we have a plant or spell or something that can let a man get pregnant.

Wei Wuxian: ...what.

Xie Lian: My world has a pill that a man can take to let him get pregnant.

Wei Wuxian: you're telling me that both of your worlds have male pregnancy aids?

Shen Qingqiu: hey, I only said that I wouldn't be surprised if it did...

Xie Lian: Actually I could probably change genders to get pregnant too. Or I could impregnate San Lang. I guess there are a few different options.

Tragedy struck! An Ding's littlest disciple has gone missing!

Mobei-jun was just gonna bring her back right away, but then he got stuck having to deal with his shitty uncle, also the child looks cold, he can't bring her back to Qinghua cold! Also she's hungry (what can he safely feed a human child??) and she seems to really like the ice sculptures around the castle (she started crying when he tried to take her away) and then she wanted to braid is hair and-- Let's say it takes him a little while to bring her back.

(Mobei is discovering his paternal instincts. He's also projecting a lil, Child lost into a different realm??? AINT THAT FAMILIAR??? Must hold the child and keep it safe.)
