#i didnt intend for this to turn into a series but i've accidentally identified an exploratory filmic technique used for a particular theme#that i spoke about like a year ago relating to dean's enforcing of the boundaries of sam's role by specifically verbalising exactly how#sam has breached it and sam's internalised adoption of those parameters within his awareness of dean's own role and dean's enforcing of it#that he projects within the deans of his hallucinations. but there's also the fact that ap has once pointed out about how#nothing has really changed for sam between/throughout the end of seasons four to the end of season five despite third perspectives#(like bobby's) as well as dean's and even sam's perceiving sam's attempted assimilation into his idealised role and structures synonymous#as 'maturity'. and this is beyond the obv elephant in the room that is the fallacious hunter-typical application of ontology and an#unknowable but inevitable evil that has always existed will always exist and is fated to take over someone deemed a monstrous 'them'#that's being applied to sam's role and the necessity of sam's circumstances whether that be the panic room or the degradation of what dean'#saying. the hunterism of it all makes it a righteous but harsh truth one must confront. dean's mistrust is rational and so must his#evaluations of sam be. like what does it mean when a person with That Much control and/or authority of your autonomy expresses something#like this? how damning is that?#this is embarrassing to admit but i rarely watch full episodes nowadays because i'm depressed as hell and i get so overwhelmed by this show#sooo easily (positive connotation lol). this idea came from me watching five seconds of 5.18 to grab the screencaps i used for that post#i made this morning. now i need to edit the linked posts to link this one#5.18#4.21#se referat
