SIGNIFICANCE OF MIL AS A SUBJECT
Tumblr media
As a social being, it is natural for us to communicate and interact with the people around us. We communicate with one another to gain information, share ideas and opinions, and for entertainment. There are also ways to communicate indirectly, such as sending emails and messages through our gadgets and digital devices, watching tv, or even the posters and billboards around our surroundings. As we can see, communication is everywhere and is a natural process.
The subject Media and Information Literacy (MIL) is being taught to us so that we can further understand how communication and interaction works, because communication or interaction itself is a simple yet complex process, it has many branches and ideologies, and studying these ideologies can aid us to enhance our communication and analytical skills to a greater sense. MIL also studies and makes use of technologies that we use such as cellphones, tablets, and computers that we often use to connect to the internet and have access to different forms of social media, because a huge number of people use internet not just for communication but also for education, and it also became a big influence in our modern society. MIL enables people to interpret and make informed judgments as users of information and media, as well as to become skillful creators and producers of information and media messages in their own right.
Taking or studying the subject Media and Information Literacy (MIL) enables people, not just students to effectively use and manipulate media and information to communicate, negotiate and interact with one another.

WMSU-SHS STORIES: Who inspires you in life?
Tumblr media
This is a messy sketch of my inspirations in life, my mother and my father. They inspire me because they make me happy and supports me in everything that I do in my life, I am who I am today because of them. They are the only people that stays at my side when the world seems to turn its back on me. I may disappoint them sometimes, but they still forgive me even if I haven't apologized to them yet. They were my first heroes and my first best friends, and I always thank God for giving me lovable and supportive parents. I do not always share my problems with them, but they still know if there is something bothering me and they always try to comfort me, and they never fail to comfort me. They always give me meaningful and motivating advices that strengthens me up to face all of the problems and all of the dramas that I have to deal with.
They do not think of their own well-being at all, all they care about is me and my sister's welfare, they do their best to give us a comfortable and happy life. I want to give them a better life someday, I want to atone for all of my shortcomings to them and all of the troubles I have caused them. They always tell me to reach all of my dreams in life, and I promise that I will become successful someday and make them the proudest parents in the whole world. I'll end this up now because words cannot express some of my thoughts and feelings for them, I just want them to know that I am the luckiest son in the world because they are my parents.

WMSU-SHS stories: Why do we celebrate Buwan ng Wika? August is the National Language Month or Buwan ng Wika here in the Philippines. This month is very significant among Filipinos because it is a month where Filipinos appreciate the Philippines' identity, culture and heritage. We can never understand a country's culture without understanding its language first, the Filipino language is what makes Filipinos Filipinos. Some people think that celebrating Buwan ng Wika is not important, but they are wrong because celebrating Buwan ng Wika is also a way for us to showcase our love for our native country. Celebrating Buwan ng Wika is also a way of appreciating our native language and our nationality. Buwan ng Wika is also a fun way of showing the nationalism in the hearts of every Filipino, in this month people perform dances featuring our country's native dances, singing Filipino folk songs, or even a group declamation. Buwan ng Wika also tells us the importance of the history of our language and culture, just like the times when Philippines was under the power of the Spaniards and how our ancestors fought for the freedom of our country. The Filipino language played a big role in liberating our country, and it is also impressive that our culture is still present even though we have no or little control over our country back then. Jose Rizal once said "He who does not love his own language is far worse than a brute or stinking fish". As Filipinos, we must never forget our love for our motherland, because it is the place where we came from in the first place. We must love our native language, Buwan ng Wika only happens once in a year, so it is important that we lend some of our time and effort to preserve our country's traditions and culture.

WMSU-SHS STORIES: The life of a CSM student in WMSU Being a CSM student in WMSU is difficult, I have to wake up every 6:00 a.m. and go home every 5:30 p.m. and sometime 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. depending on how busy we are at school or how many of our requirements are needed to be finished. Sometimes it tears me inside out and breaks me down, but it doesn’t stop me from reaching all of my goals and dreams in life. I just hope that all of my sacrifices will pay off someday and that I’ll have a great future waiting for me. I have to study hard so that I won’t have any failing marks on my report card, although I admit that there are subjects that I do not understand that easily but thank God I am still passing them. It takes a lot of hardwork, determination, courage and sleepless nights to survive as a CSM student, this journey is not for the faint of heart. Many of my classmates are very competitive, I sometimes try to compete with them but I just can’t seem to reach their level, so now I just aim to have passing grades and make sure that I am not left behind in our class. But it is also fun to be a CSM student in WMSU, the subjects that we are taking are sometimes enhancing our skills in drawing, painting, singing, dancing and et cetera. They say that the things we do won’t be hard if we stop thinking that they are hard, but if you apply this kind of belief in making or doing our requirements at school, it will make you question this kind of belief and all of your beliefs in life. I mean it is not that hard in doing them, but sometimes it can be very tiring, time-consuming and it can drive you crazy, just kidding but trust me it’ll exhaust you to the point that your soul will be separated from your body. I also think that anyone can survive being a CSM student in WMSU, all you have to do is believe in yourself and have a lot of patience. I did not regret being a CSM student in WMSU because I know that the things that I have learned and experienced will lead me to my bright future, a future where I can finally have enough sleep and just have a good time at home and at work. But for now, I’ll just have to survive this hellish war and make it out alive.
