In future volumes of the light novel, I would really like to see a heartfelt conversation between Milidiana and Katarina, seriously. Katarina’s mother appears as a strict woman, but when she’s with Luigi, she’s so gentle and flushed.

Finally got ln14 and the only non Sora related thing I can say so far is that if Haru wasn't introduced already in love with Cyrus she would have taken Catarina away to elope in Xiarmah with minimal effort. These two have the best chemistry we've had in a while. They're literally mirror images and I love them

Something that I remember from time to time because I can't forget how dumb it was is that I saw someone argue that marikata (and sorakata and raphakata) couldn't happen because they weren't nobles and Catarina would drop in station.

imagining an incredibly funny hamefura plot concept in which some people who are trying to destroy the kingdom of Sorcier decide to like, try and break up Katarina and Jeord and cause infighting among the nobility, so they send someone in to like, seduce Katarina to make evidence that she's "cheating" on him to give to Jeord, and the someone posing as an advisor is like "my lord look at this evidence.....your fiance is being disloyal with another man" and they're like haha yes now this will break them up and create a rift between the royal family and the duke -

and then Jeord just leans forward with his head resting against his steepled fingers and lets out the most long-suffering sigh anyone has ever heard and mutters something about "goddammit she got another one" and nothing happens in regards to the plot and the schemers are all like. bamboozled. flabbergasted. dumbfounded. what's happening.

it takes them like another week at least to finally learn the open secret that Katarina Claes is probably seeing half the court by now.

I've the feeling the next Hamefura volume is going to include Sora's birthday celebration Katarina promised him in LN10.

Wait wait I was thinking about this again today but I did not think about it being straight up Japanese in Ethenell 👀

Doesn't Sora understand what it means though? If it wasn't the normal language then also it would have been questioned how Catarina knew the word either (as does happen with Japanese food etc)

Would that imply the language in hamefura is Japanese it's just the writing system that's different? But then Catarina mentions how no one can read the letter because it's in Japanese... Plus you can't really read Japanese entirely in hiragana and their writing seemed syllable based...

About Sora's name.

I've always wondered why Sora's name was kept in japanese in LN3. I'd assumed they would translate it to Sky or Ciel so that it'd fit with the western names of the rest of the characters.

But what if the man who took care of Sora named him this way... because he knew japanese?

If Silva joined the vinc on the first day of the voyage that means the Sigard must have been in the sorcier port which means it must have made the journey from Quid BUT the point of the vinc is that it is the first boat to be able to go direct so that means they took the long way round?? It also means all the Quidian nobles on the guestlist also took the long way to Sorcier specifically to board the Vinc? Which wouldn't even take them back home???

Me when I had to pause the hamefura movie for fifteen minutes because Sora appeared

Ok but just thinking about the level of consequences in Sorcier and it's kind of suspicious about how og Catarina was treated. Just look at our other examples.

Sora: heavily involved with a high profile kidnapping case, known to be unremorseful about it. Given a job at what is likely a workplace involving national security.

Ryle: actively plotted to SELL majority of the nobels of Sorcier for personal gain. Demoted one level of rank.

And then Catarina: school bully, harassment of a peer. Exile for life, no communication with family allowed.

(The last part is speculation, but in many other cases I'm aware of, exile does not necessarily mean all family ties are cut. Realistically, the Claes family could have sent money, servants, or support to Catarina, and/or entrusted her to friends in another country. And yet she ends up acting alone?)

Personally, I believe there's more to it. Perhaps the Claes family in the FL timeline needed a warning, and exiling their daughter was the way the King chose. It's common in other historical stories for this plot point to happen. It's sort of a way of punishing a noble family in private, while giving a slap on the hand to a scapegoat in public.

If it's not the Claes family, (and indeed it probably isn't) then her exile might have been the result of a larger plot. Perhaps she was targeted by the guy I still don't know the name of, and moulded into the perfect pawn. He seems to have more than enough connections and influence to be able to do it

Or maybe it's whatever power is forcing the world onto the path of FL?? Maybe there's really just some higher power that wants Catarina to suffer idk

Anyway this is all speculation .
