I am always worried that my favorite (non canon) ships are perpetuated solely by the kuleshov effect; that the audience sees what they want to in the character’s facial expressions and words instead of what is actually there.

That being said, I do not have to worry about that for Thorin and Bilbo.

Everyone voted for the fix-it bagginshield AU when I asked everyone’s opinions on my next project, so here it is. It is a collaboration with my dear friend and beta, @onebillionblorbos, and we both worked really hard to make it as heart wrenching and angsty as possible. 

Only the first two chapters have been written, so please let us know if you enjoy this concept and where you would like it to go. We have a vague idea of where we want to take the story, but any input and suggestions would be appreciated.

Summary:

In the throes of gold sickness, Thorin threw Bilbo from the ramparts. He came to his senses as soon as the hobbit's body hit the ground. By that point though, it was too late. Heartbroken and filled with guilt, he and the company join the Battle of the Five Armies.

After being slain in battle, Thorin woke up to an offer from Yavanna herself to go back, protect Bilbo, and not fall to the greed and madness of the Line of Durin. Only then would he be able to join the halls of his maker and find peace.

He couldn't help but fantasize about the dwarf in all sorts of situations and never expected for one such fantasy to come true. When Thorin asked for Bilbo's help kneading dough, neither of them could hold back their desire any longer.
