Not to be cliche, but Jane Austen's novels are a lot about how great power & wealth should come with great responsibility, and how most of the wealthy and powerful fail at that. She's asking questions like, "Is that insanely wealthy person polite, charitable, and considerate in a way that befits his station in life?" and she's finding most of them wanting.

i'm torn between trying to build something new while wanting to delete everything again and no longer exist in a digital space.
i'm trying to see the worth in even trying.
is it worse - for everything to have already been dictated by fate or be plaything to the cruelty of chaos - because either way, it feels like you have no choice.

currently experiencing that elation you feel right before you know everything is about to fall apart in a way you could never prepare for. the exaltation in the revelry before the pain. the morphine high of anesthesia before brutality. the fields of poppy before the ground is scarred with bloodshed and violence.
the calm before the storm.
