     “I mean… to be honest, I don’t really like studying,      but I have a friend that basically insists that we all      get together and study. But I guess it helps in the      long run with exams.”

     “Yeah, I’ve been kinda getting used to this place too.      It’s not too different from home, especially the ward I      was placed in! As for attending to my other ‘stuff’…      Um, we’ll see on that!”

     “But what are your hobbies? What did you do back      home?”

      As always, it seemed Rosetta had a lot to learn from those younger than herself. For someone so youthful to take this situation in stride and quickly become used to these circumstances... it inspired her. “Ah, it’s normal not to enjoy studying. It’s great to have friends to motivate you though, isn’t it? And it’s wonderful that you have reminders of home.” 

     “I do love gardening, though I’ll admit I didn’t have so much time for that in the first place. I was much too busy skyfaring, you see. But perhaps this change of pace will allow me to change that.”

        “Does it, now?” She offered a grin to Djeeta, then fixed her gaze back upon the little orange kitten she had found in an alley of Cotes Ward. Comfortable in her arms, the creature pawed up at her face playfully before directing his attention to the captain beside her. It seemed that the cat was just as enamored with the two of them as Rosetta was with him. “Well, even if he can’t speak to us, he’s important just like anyone else. Having a name is critical, especially when he’s this adorable. What shall we call him, Djeeta?”

    To have been captured  and held in this unknown land with no way to return home... it would always be weird, wouldn’t it? It had no satisfying explanation. Eventually, after enough time, perhaps it would become less ‘weird’ and more normal. They would cope at the very least, and she could only hope that would turn into some happiness. She begun to indulge herself in some interests that she hadn’t the time for previously. Despite the obscurity of the situation, it was possible to find little comforts and distractions.“I believe that it simply comes with time, in situations like this.”

      “I don’t think we can do anything to speed up that process but choose to live... and in a different way than we have had the chance to before. Here, we are free from our designed purposes, correct? So perhaps we can make something new of ourselves.”

     Since her arrival, Rosetta had found predictable solace in the nature of Savior’s Respite. Its beauty was rivaled by no other location within Spirale, as far as she had discovered. The verdant flora and various fauna were a sure comfort to this primal beast, so the sudden crash she had heard in the trees followed by the absence of birdsong hadn’t gone unnoticed. And she sensed that the same went for Yggdrasil, too. “Yes, I'm wondering the same thing.”

     “Shall we investigate, Yggdrasil?” Together, surely they would make the perfect pair to discover the cause. “Perhaps it’s nothing, but perhaps it isn’t... Should something have happened, I’d hate to leave the birds unattended to.”

      Rosetta had been lucky to have a relatively pleasant experience in Spirale since her arrival, but part of that stemmed from the fact that she hadn’t been here long at all. Of course, there was just as much chance she’d encounter aggressive and disrespectful individuals as the kindhearted and helpful citizens she’d met thus far. She had been leisurely strolling along Pearl Street, people watching and surveying the various wares available through shop windows, when someone approached with the clear intent to pickpocket her or worse. Just as the altercation began, another stranger swiftly dealt with the assailant before she could even react.

       “And for that I sincerely thank you. I hardly had time to react myself before you were there. It’s not often that I see speed like that, I’ll admit. But it seems there is a lot to learn about the residents of this place yet.” Whether he’d truly cared about aiding her or simply wanted to experience the thrill of a fight, she was grateful for the help.

     “Hobbies… I mean, I do have a few! But, I guess      I haven’t, um, indulged myself in them? You can      say I’ve been busy with school and stuff!”

And you know, making cruel adults pay for their cruelty, but she’ll keep that bit to herself. Were the Phantom Thieves even a thing here, even if there was no concrete Metaverse? She’ll have to ask Akira what the game plan was.

       “I see, I see. Putting your education above other things, that’s quite admirable.” So long as each individual found their own balance, it wasn’t so important what exactly they dedicated time to. “Since my arrival, I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can. When I feel a bit more settled, I’ll look into my own hobbies. Perhaps you’ll be able to attend to this ‘stuff’ you mention as well?”

Feels weird not doing Phantom Thieves stuff.

     “It can be difficult to enjoy the calm and quiet here when there’s work to be done back home. Do you have any hobbies that you might be able to occupy yourself with?”

      Surely this place would become more eventful in time. Rosetta had only just arrived, but she couldn’t ignore the deep feeling that much more was to come. Perhaps then, she and other newcomers would find some purpose here.

      With curiosity and uncertainty, Rosetta browsed the available wares at a quaint flower shop not far from her personal housing. One of many she had seen in Archimedes, this had a particular rustic charm that invited Rosetta in, its verdant shades and flora reminding her a little of the forest she called home. The little shop contained blooms and seeds that were strange yet fascinating to her; she recognized only some of them, but others she had to concede were from other worlds entirely. 

     “Oh my, there are so many options, I fear I can’t choose...” Rosetta mused to herself, thumbing through packages of seeds on display. When she noticed another person browsing within the little shop, her attention was diverted - perhaps they’d know more? With careful steps she approached them, offering a smile before she spoke. “Pardon me. If I may ask, are you a frequent visitor of this shop?” ❧ @jijinoke

      Rosetta would have found herself enjoying the Water of Styx regardless of circumstance, but this time, her choice to soak in the pool was not motivated by leisure. Rather, it was the first location she had found near the city’s center that calmed her at all, that brought some sense back into her newly frenzied mind. With the warmth of the water and soft glow of the lights surrounding her, perhaps she could make sense of this new realm and process next steps.

      “It’s almost hard to believe that a place like this could offer such respite.” The woman she spoke to was not an Erune, though her features were similar. The familiarity, however slight, brought comfort to Rosetta, as did the stranger’s beauty. She took deep, deliberate breaths as she paused, curious to learn more of this world’s people: if nothing else, for now it was at least one distraction. “Though I suppose you are more familiar with its inner workings? I’ve yet to explore beyond my assigned ward, but I must doubt that every corner of this city is similar in nature to this.” ❧ @vulignis
