"Right then. Shall we continue with the-" Suddenly the alarms started going off. "God damn it..." Of course a fight would break out. Rolling his eyes as some trainers ran by to the front yard, he followed them.
"It's a real shame no one asked for your opinion."
“No one asked for your either, yet there we are.” Snake whispered more to himself now, staring at the other.

He rolled his eyes. "Right. Of course." Noticing the others discomfort, he raised an eyebrow. "Everything alright?"

"Not all the experiments work the way we hope but she's turned out rather successful in my opinion. Not counting her behavior of course. She can be rather rebellious but I keep her in her place."

"Most of that information is classified but one I can tell you about simply because it's very prominent is her eyes. We tried injecting her eyes with a serum to give her better night vision but it simply tainted the pigment of her eyes, making them turn darker in response to anger."

"Almost all of our soldiers here have had some kind of experimentation done but we save the best and final products for the Alphas. Alpha 104 has had the most experimentation done to her." Not all successful though.

Derek nodded and gestured for him to follow. They weren't conducting anything currently. If they were experimenting on one of the MES he wouldn't have offered. Leading the way, he walked him into the infirmary/lab. This was one reason they were terrified of the infirmary, because here it was a partial lab. Walking inside, one could see all the restraints and numerous vials and scientists.

"Pity. This is how we make them stronger." He dismissed the two soldiers on the mat, one having to be carried off by two others, having been stabbed and slashed several times. "Shall we continue to the labs then?"
"It's a real shame no one asked for your opinion."

Derek sneered. Crossing his arms over his chest. "Maybe on your base. But I don't think I need to remind you that you're at the MES simply as an observer."

He couldn't simply leave the medic in the hallway, even though he really wanted to. Against his better judgment, he took Jay to the infirmary, though he made sure the medic was as far away from the lab portion of the infirmary as possible. Dumping him in one of the beds he instructed the doctors to look him over. While they did that, he went over to look in on their latest experiment.
•✨
Jay was walking down the hall in the barracks, on his way to the gym in some attempt to work off whatever the hell bug he had manged to get. What he wasn’t expecting was to suddenly be very dizzy. He braced himself against the wall. Jay could see a dark figure he couldn’t quite identify before passing out falling forwards.

Derek caught Jay purely out of instinct. Had he recognized the young medic sooner he would have allowed him to smash his skull into the floor. What a pity. Lowering the younger man to the ground, it was obvious that he was sick. Raising his head, Derek scanned the halls to see if there was anyone around. There wasn't. Kneeling down, he lifted the man back up and took him to the MES infirmary.

"To keep the MES in line you have to be rather firm, otherwise they take advantage of you. They spot weakness and exploit it, therefore you cannot show any weakness around them. I make sure they stay in line by disciplining them. We also make sure they are strong by picking out the weak and allowing for them to be expelled."
He eyed the other man a moment. "I would advise you not threaten to expose this organization, Agent Barlow. The US government doesn't take kindly to threats such as that. Considering you're 'friends' are under our command, I would advise you stay out of it."
"As for you wanting me dead? I can guarantee you aren't the only one. I'm not here to be their friends. I'm here to make them strong and successful."
“You should be mindful of your words, agent.” He seemed more amused then intimidated. Derek had been threatened numerous times before. Not a lot got under his skin. He always had the upper hand, whether this man knew it or not. “This isn’t a private organization. This is apart of the United States military. My connections are pretty high.” Hell, Derek had frequent communication with the president of the United States and several Congress members.
“Do you truly want me wiped off the face of the Earth? Now what good would that do? You honestly think getting rid of me will end the MES?” He could laugh. “They’ll only replace me. I don’t believe the affairs of the MES are any of your business anyway.“

“The MES are weapons of the United States. They don’t have rights. They’re experimental soldiers.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “People don’t want freedom, they want protection. Security. That’s what we do.” He huffed when the other accused him of being a cowered. “That’s interesting coming from a mere spy. I served as an Army Captain before agreeing to run this program. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I served my country and I continue to serve my country today be training the MES.”
He simply watched as the other paced about the room. “Fighting is all they know. If given the choice, they wouldn’t want to leave anyway.” He knew this to be true. They knew nothing of the outside world and that scared them. They would be too afraid to leave the life they knew. Another reason they couldn’t be integrated back into the states. Half of them would probably be dead or in jail within a week.

Centossa folded his arms.
“You seem to forget. Espionage is a form of war- less bloody and explosive, but it was its risks nonetheless,” he said. “If they are meant for war, like you said, why aren’t you exposing them to this side of the fight? Won’t it help the MES for after the war is over? After all, espionage is the art of fighting a war in society.”
“Oh, pardon me. The MES don’t need to know how to exist outside of a base. Your program views them as disposable,” Centossa’s emerald glare was cold and fiery all at once. “I’ve been around War. She hardly knows what she’s fighting for. What’s going to become of her once this war comes to an end?”

"Oh, but isn't that what we have men like you for? We have men and women like you for espionage. That's simply not what the MES were created for. They were bred for the less appealing side of war."
He smirked. "There will always be war. You're a fool to believe otherwise. There will always be a demand for soldiers, but if there is no more need for the MES than they certainly can't be released back into the public." He couldn't say for sure what would become of them but they would most likely be disposed of. They were too dangerous for the civilian world.
“I find no surprise there. They were trained to be successful but they know nothing outside of combat. They don’t exactly blend in well.” While, Derek didn’t like not having a tight leash on his soldiers, he was also thinking about what would be best for the mission. “They stick out like a sore thumb. They weren’t designed to blend into a public setting. They were designed to fight. They may be loyal soldiers, but how long until one of them slips up?” Particularly Alpha 104. She tended to be more violent than the others. Alpha 89 and Alpha 87 would probably be alright.
Derek had no control over this agent. He wasn’t under his command. The MES, however, were. But Alpha 89, Alpha 104, and Alpha 87 were currently on loan to the Task Force 141. He had other MES on base that he currently had to worry about so he had to trust the leadership they were currently under. “They are meant for war, not espionage.”

“No, you don’t,” Derek replied simply to the agent. “But I know you. You’re that spy that seems to be borrowing my soldiers as of late.” And successfully for the most part. How those kids could pull off any of those missions was beyond him. They weren’t meant for the civilian world. He had made sure of that. “The MES weren’t meant for espionage. It would probably be best you didn’t partner with them on your missions,” he advised.
