Realizing it was Jack she was talking too lightened up her mood a bit. Familiar faces were always something that made her a lot more happy, not that unfamiliar faces didn't! Oh, it was just one of those days where the familiar dominated over the unfamiliar in happiness. All in all, she was happy to see Jack. She noticed he was reading and she paused to think for a moment. She really seemed to be interrupting people's need to read. Was that wrong? No one seemed particularly unhappy to see her, so she would have to assume the answer was a no. Or maybe it was a yes. The past few days have been messing with her brain, so she was a little more confused than normal.
"Hello Jack! I'm doing...alright. I have been better, I suppose. How about you?" She hasn't seen him since the day she met him, but then again that was the last time she really interacted until today. "You like to read? What kind of books?"
Although just reading, Jack sometimes needed to switch up the scenery. If he ate in the cafeteria, there was the risk of something getting on the pages. If he read in his own room, odds are he’d find himself nodding off. Common room it was. The voice broke his already broken concetration on the book. Though it wasn’t too thick it was very descriptive. One would almost say overly so. He thanked god for the company actually.
"Oh, Alice." He said with a grin, upon identifying the voice as the girl he’d met via bumping in the cafeteria once. "No bother at all. How are you?"

Alice felt instantly horrible for bothering the poor man! Even though he said it was just a headache, Alice felt like it was incredibly rude of her to talk so loudly to him, (which she didn't do at all, but hey, that's Alice). She puts her hands to her mouth and tilts her head to the side. Maybe if she whispered things would be better! At least, that was what she was hoping. Alice wasn't one to talk too much, so she couldn't do much harm. She understood the side effects of new meds, since she seemed to be on them every other week, but that was besides the point. She almost forgot to uncover her mouth to speak, but she slowly let her hands fall so she could communicate with Thumper.
"New meds?" she whispers, "I'm sorry...unless they are helping you. Umm...I'm Alice." She smiles back. "Is your book good?"
Thumper had his nose buried in another book. Frankenstein. It was one of the best ways he had found to stay entertained and also not get bothered by people. Usually. He was enjoying the book quite a lot, but he was distracted today. The higher dose of medication he been taking did seem to be improving his depression, but it was making harder to concentrate. That was frustrating. When the blonde girl approached, he tried not to sigh and closed the book having failed to get more than a few pages finished. He pressed his fingers to his temple and made small circles.
"I’m fine…thanks," he told her softly. "Just— a headache. New meds," he explained, shrugging. "You’re not bothering me… I’m Thumper," he introduced himself, giving a small smile.

Alice nods her head, signaling to the other girl that she was indeed alright. What Alice really wanted to talk about were the other girls books. It had been a very long time since she has visited a library, or has read a good book, and she could tell that this lady really enjoyed her books. She saw the way the lady whispered the words of one of the characters aloud, as if she were a part of that book and that fascinated Alice very much. It really wasn't everyday that she saw a composed girl reading in the loudest area of the asylum! She wished she had her control.
"What books are you reading? I really do love books. It's been ages since I've just sat down and read one....I get too distracted nowadays..." She waits for the girls response only to realize she never gave her name! "Oh! And my name is Alice Liddel. I'm so sorry I didn't introduce myself sooner."
The common room was currently the loudest room in the… this place, Dorothy decided. While she had loved the quiet of the library and the quiet of the hallways and the sound of empty air outside in the gardens, she felt much better being in this loud environment where it seemed that anything anyone said was drowned out, no matter who the person was. The book she had found in the library was propped open in her lap, her eyes running over the words while her first finger on her right hand followed along slowly. It was an act she had been taught to keep herself from getting too overwhelmed. The story itself was an interesting one, a story about a man who lived in a house with his wife and two sons. So far, the man’s son had come home after an unsuccessful attempt to make his own life and the man and his wife were talking. Dorothy liked to pretend she was there, as the wife. She kept whispering the lines of the woman to herself, feeling more connected to this woman.
She paused for a moment to look up, and saw a blond girl looking around. Dorothy watched her for a moment before using a slip of paper she had found in her room for a bookmark, and pressing the book into the chair beside her. The room had thinned slightly now, but everybody seemed to have a partner or two to talk to. She glanced up when she heard a woman’s voice, realizing that the blond girl who had just been looking around was standing in front of her. Dorothy felt her eyebrows furrow and looked at the girl for just a second. “Oh… no, I’m okay. Just… reading, I guess.” She looked at the girl for a moment longer before moving her book so that if she wanted to sit she could. “Are you okay?” she asked. “You seem…. Are you alright?”

Alice's smile never leaves her face as she listens to Basil. He had a very nice voice to match his calm appearance. She was completely enthralled by this man. "My day? Oh it's been lovely! I mean, the other days haven't been...but today is better! I'm talking to people again. How about yours?"

Basil waited patiently as he studied her a little. She seemed quiet and more reserved as he waited for her answer. When she did and introduced herself, he stood up and stepped back and bowed towards her. “A pleasure to meet you Miss Alice, my name is Basil.” He took his seat back and looked up at her. “That’s good to hear you’re doing alright. How has your day been?”

Alice was truly fascinated by this man. She could tell right off the bat that he saw things differently then the average person, and not in a bad way. Why she was more head-in-the-clouds, he seemed more grounded, and it was something Alice has not been used to. He also seemed very composed, and that confused Alice because she wouldn't expect someone as composed as him to be in an asylum, but then again everyone has their secrets.
Alice didn't even realize at first that he asked her a question due to the fact that she was too busy observing him. She felt her cheeks redden, embarrassed by how rude she was being by staring, so she looks elsewhere for a moment, contemplating his question. Was she alright? No. Was it something she should tell him? No. Alice was aware that there wasn't really anything a person could do for what was troubling her except for them to, well, be around her. She was already feeling a teeny bit better by being around another person who wasn't her therapist. "Y-Yes! I am quite alright, thank you sir. And my name is Alice!" She takes a step back and curtsies. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
Basil had been out and about so much lately he was surprised that only now was he taking a real moment outside his room to sit down and think about the people he’s recently talked to, the fourth of July that they threw for everyone here and such. He had decided to go to the common room and interesting enough it seemed pretty active today, but luckily he had found a chair with a lack of people near it and taken a seat in it.
He had been in his own thoughts or his mind palace as he privately calls it when he heard footsteps coming closer to him. By the time he comes out of it he hears the young lady in front of him speaking and luckily caught her questions.
"Yes, I am quite fine madam…….and don’t be sorry Miss, you’re not bothering me at all….." He took a good look at her as to he doesn’t recall seeing her around or possibly just haven’t spoken to her yet. "Is everything alright, Miss?….."

Once she heard the man's voice, she could hardly believe it was her Mad! He was always so outgoing, so vibrant, and this man was not. Alice wants to hug her friend tightly and make everything feel better right now, but she knows that is a gradual process and sometimes random hugs are not so appropriate.
"Yes Mad, it is really Alice." She wonders if Mad has nightmares too; about this place, about Wonderland....Was Wonderland haunting them all? She never did ask how he got to this world, but she didn't think now was the time to ask. "What is the matter? You don't look like yourself."

Boom. Boom. Boom.
The fireworks had much more of an effect on him than he thought they would. The booming made him think of the Jabberwocky which made him zone out completely. The last thing Mad remembered was the fireworks and that was 6 days ago. Almost a week was lost to him. He woke up this morning in his room, his head on a top of pile of papers that were very much different to his own hand writing. They looked liked the queens.
Was she here?
How did she find him?
Mad didn’t stay in his room long. He had to get out into the open and surrounded by people. He found a hoodie and wrapped it around him. Once in the common room, he was far away from everyone else. Until he heard a voice.
"A-Alice?" He put his hood down. "Is it- Is it really you?"

Alice wasn't being her social self lately. At first, it was because of the small cold she had. She didn't want to pass it unto anyone because that dreadfully rude, so she stayed in bed and waited for it to pass. Then it was her dreams. Instead of them just being set in Wonderland, they morphed, combing the hospital and Wonderland into one big mess. It was horrifying, twisted, and everyone here was disfigured somehow and coming after her. Alice would be waking up trembling, too scared to leave her covers. Unfortunately, she could only hide in her room so long before the doctors got to her. She has been having intense therapy sessions, trying to make sense of what was real and what was just her nightmares. It was awful, really, and was starting to really drain Alice.
After two weeks of this, Alice decided that enough was certainly enough and that she needed to talk to someone before she went mad even further. So she went to the common room, determined to talk to someone. The real problem was once she got there, she wasn't sure who to talk to. There were more people in there then she was used to and it made her a little uncomfortable. She surveys the room, looking for someone who looked friendly enough. When she spots a person not really interacting with anyone, she takes a deep breath and walks over to them. "Are you alright?" she asks, a little softer than normal. "I mean...you seem like you have a lot on your mind and...I'm sorry, if I'm bothering you...."

Alice walks on over to see the movie he is watching and sits next to him. As she watches, she starts to feel rather sad, and tilts her head to the side in confusion. "What is this sadness?"
"I think this might be the most uniquely depressing film in the history of cinema. Do all the characters die?”

When Alice realized she bumped into Hattie....err...Mad, the biggest smile she has ever worn since being her planted itself on her face. She giggled happily as he swung her around, happy to see his excitement as well as a good friend! "It's me! It's me! Oh, I've missed you! Mad it's me Alice!!!" She was wondering why he was here, but she wasn't going to press on the matter. Maybe Wonderland was driving him dotty as well.
Mad had been looking down at the ground not paying any attention when he felt someone bump into him. His eyes immediately shot up to the person to apologize.
That voice.
"Alice?" His breath hitched in his throat and a smile came to her lips. "It is you, Alice! It really is you!!!" Mad’s arms wrapped around the blonde hair girl and swung her around. He couldn’t contain his excitement.

Alice was going to go pick up the water bottle he dropped right away but he beat her to it. She blushes, not only from her embarrassment but because the man she bumped into was being so polite and kind to her! She didn't think she deserved it for bumping into him like that. Bumping into him felt different then bumping into other people. It was....hard, pointy, and it made her feel sad for this man. She wishes she knew how to help.
"Me? Oh, I'm very much alright! I mean....Thank you for asking. I am so sorry I bumped into you! Can I make it up to you somehow? I don't want you to think I am always this rude!"
Jack as in the cafeteria, eating for the first time that day but the second day in a row that week. He’d seen quite a few of his friends up for discharge but not himself. He was really okay with that. He couldn’t imagine himself leaving Sally and Chesh and Mad just YET but it would be nice to be offered. So MAYBE if he ate more and MAYBE stopped talking about Halloweentown so much, he’d get the chance. Maybe he’d even TAKE it. He’d missed Cinds.
In his thinking, he’d bumped into someone. The extent of the damage was his water bottle fell on the ground. He smiled and picked it up.
"It’s alright. No harm done." He said. "Are YOU alright?"He asked. He knew, as bony as he was, bumping into him probably hurt more than it would someone fleshier.

Alice tilts her head to the side, listening to him intently, even though he spoke so little. She wanted to prove she was a nice young lady, and bumping into people as soon as she was awake enough to eat was certainly not the way to do it! The man she bumped into probably barley noticed until she said anything, but Alice was still determined to make it up to him. "It's still not alright! It was rude of me....May I give you my dessert for being rude?"
The cafeteria was full of hungry patient, but none as ravenous as Kristoff. He had spent most of the day cooped up in his room and had skipped the last couple of meals to avoid interacting with others. He kept his head down, even now, gazing intently at his tray full of food and wandering through the rows of table looking for a place where he could sit by himself, but it seemed that every single table was occupied with at least one other person.
He went toward the exit, deciding he’d much rather take his lunch in his room where he could be alone, but before he could even get the door open it swung open and a small girl pranced inside and bumped into him. He hardly felt her, whether he was too distracted or she was just so tiny, but when she looked up at him an apologized he merely shrugged his shoulders and forced a smile. “You’d be surprised how often that happens around here.”

Alice blushes and takes a better look at the woman she bumped into. She was so beautiful and graceful and oh, Alice was being so rude! She takes a step back and curtsies before saying, "It was my fault, miss. But thank you for being kind with me."
Elsa was passing by the doors when suddenly someone collided with her. “I’m sorry!” she blurted at the same time the other girl apologised as well. “I’m all right, I will lean to watch out one of these days,” she smiled at the blonde.

Alice heads to the cafeteria, feeling unusually peckish today. Maybe it was because her medication was switched, or because today they were serving her favorite, or it was because she slept peacefully for forty-five minutes. Either way, she was in an excellent mood and wanted to eat food and share her good mood with everyone! As she enters the cafeteria she accidentally bumps into someone. "Oh! I am so sorry! Are you alright?"

Alice was simply walking by when she saw Cheshire, a friend of hers. What made her go over to him, eyes wide and curious, was the fact that he made a coin disappear. His magic was back! Well...it was in this world too! She claps her hands together excitedly and grins at her friend. "You're still magic! That means you can help people with it!!"
"And… it’s… gone!" Cheshire exclaimed to himself, a grin stretching across from ear to ear. Perhaps some of his magic from Wonderland had remained, just presenting itself in different ways. He could no longer disappear, but he could make other things disappear. Like little coins. He barely felt the smooth, cold silver slip down his sleeve, being so engrossed in his tricks. "Now how did that happen? I thought that didn’t happen in this world… just Wonderland. Hm."
