Thank you to @pirate-fanatic and @enderhuntresss for organizing these Spotlight Author posts! It’s been a fun way to learn about other Good Omens fanfic and poetry writers 🤍🖤
Past Spotlight Author Posts
Tumblr media
Continuing to share previous Spotlight Authors from the original Facebook posts to help catch everyone up with this fun and informative campaign.
Our second post featured AlwaysBeMyBaby and was shared in April '25. Keep reading to learn more about their Good Omens-influenced works and participation in this ineffable fandom.
Here’s some more info about AlwaysBeMyBaby’s life outside of the Good Omens fandom:
“I grew up in Guam and Hawai’i and I currently live in Northern California with my partner, child, and two cats. I’m an English professor interested in race, empire, and colonization as well as poetry, media, and popular culture. My hobbies include U-Jam dance and hot yoga. As a teenager in the 1980s, my favorite poet was Anne Sexton and my favorite band was The Clash.”
AlwaysBeMyBaby is fairly new to the Good Omens fandom - and actually discovered it after participating in another popular fandom!
“My first online fandom was Our Flag Means Death. I started watching OFMD because it seemed like a cool show to watch with my kid. When Good Omens 2 aired, my OFMD friends watched it but I was a month behind because I was finishing up a writing event. After I watched S2, of course I immediately joined all the Facebook GO fan groups and found other GO fans online so we could cry and yell together about the ending and get hooked on all the speculation, fanfics, memes, etc.”
Poetry is a beautiful genre of writing, and our Ineffable Duo’s relationship brought a special inspiration for AlwaysBeMyBaby:
“I write poems to play and experiment with words, to put words together that might not have been put together that way before.
My first Good Omens poems were written for the Scribbling Vaguely Downwards 2024 Valentine’s Day prompts. The prompts included Valentine’s Day imagery like flowers, gifts, hearts, romantic dinners, and bubble baths.
Because of the taboo nature of Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship, so much had to be unspoken and coded. Their nonhuman essence also means that there is more to them than human language can grasp. Poetry, meanwhile, is a practice of bringing new language into being. So maybe flowers don’t mean a typical Valentine’s Day bouquet for them. Maybe a flower is something fragile and impossible that blooms between them after the scorching fire of the Kiss. Maybe a gift between them is not a pretty trinket. Maybe it is something devastating like a thermos of holy water. I turn to poetry to reach for understanding their mystery.”
Writing poetry and prose are very different, and AlwaysBeMyBaby had this to say when asked about writing both (and which one was easier of the two):
“I hear words as sound and music first, then I see and feel them as the visual and tactile images they evoke. Writing poems feels natural to me because it allows me to listen to the sound of words and to see the images they call forth.
I find writing stories very hard! Plot and dialogue don’t come naturally to me. I admire fiction writers who can keep momentum going with action and blocking and plot, or who can write that delicious banter between our angel and demon.”
AlwaysBeMyBaby’s favorite pairing and writing themes in the Good Omens fandom revolve around a certain angel 😇 and demon😈- obviously 😀:
“I write primarily about Aziraphale and Crowley because the forbidden aspect of their relationship resonates so much with what many of us have struggled with, whether it’s religious trauma, family expectations, the treatment of queer, interracial, or otherwise taboo relationships, etc. I did write one poem for Shax/Furfur and that was very fun because Shax is so commanding and fierce.”
“In my writing, I try to capture moments between Aziraphale and Crowley that really touch me – moments of tenderness, moments of longing, moments of joy. I also try to capture moments of delight and anticipation for the fandom – anticipation for their happily ever after ending, for example. In capturing a moment, poetry is a form of writing that can stop time.”
Of all the works AlwaysBeMyBaby has written, there are two that stand out as personal favorites:
“I wrote “Rondel: Resistance” in November 2024. It’s about finding and building community even when you yourself feel too tired to fight. There are repeated lines in the form of the rondel, and the repetition gives the poem a feeling of determination.  The second one is “The Demon’s Howl,” written as an homage to Allen Ginsberg’s iconic poem “Howl.” The poem describes the terrors that Crowley witnesses and the hope that he nevertheless harbors. One of my mantras from the book is “Because, underneath it all, Crowley was an optimist” (361). I admire how resourceful our Ineffables are.”
There are a few other fandoms in addition to Good Omens that AlwaysBeMyBaby enjoys participating in with writing - and has an amazing idea that I hope we get to read one day!!
“I've written for the fandoms of Our Flag Means Death, Black Sails, and Good Omens. I would like to write an essay one day about exile and unforgivability in Black Sails and Good Omens.”
AlwaysBeMyBaby has met BOTH David and Michael (so jealous!!!)
“I made some chapbooks of my Good Omens poems and gave them as gifts to Michael Sheen and David Tennant at cons. I know they get a lot of gifts but they were fun interactions and I think it’s nice for them to see that they inspire creativity in fans.”
Also encourage you to read this work - it’s fantastic!!
“I wrote a song parody of Aziraphale channeling 50 Cent and I would love to do more song parodies and homages.”
Here are a few words of wisdom from AlwaysBeMyBaby for other authors and those aspiring to write:
“Write something that makes *you* feel something–whether it’s sadness, hope, joy, humor–anything. What makes you catch your breath when you read a story or look at a piece of art? Can you create a feeling like that?
Writing is conversation. In your head, you might be saying to your favorite authors, “yes! You gave me courage to try this trope.” You might be saying to Crowley and Aziraphale, “I know you are clever enough to survive this crazy situation.” You might be talking to yourself! That is okay. As a poet, my audience is smaller but I think small communities can be very fruitful.”
Final thoughts?
“In difficult times, it is so important to find and create beauty, joy, humor, and a caring community who will fight for us all. Thank you to all of you for being part of this community.”
From the Spotlight Author team, and all of the GO fandom, thank you AlwaysBeMyBaby for bringing so much beautiful work to this fandom!!!

Thinking of the Good Omens Worldwide Fandom Picnics, May 10, 2025
Tumblr media
I pack dark olives, a luscious Brie, red and green grapes, a creamy Gruyere, baguettes crisp and warm from the oven. I pack a tartan blanket for you to lie on after you've had your fill of watching me eat. Your head rests on my thigh. I want to run my fingers through your crimson hair but first, indulge me, dear. i feed you Easter yellow petit fours, then a bite of chocolate raspberry cake. I close my eyes as you lick my fingers clean. I feel you look up at the clear blue sky. You've told me that the sky isn't blue, exactly. It's all the colors, but the blue light waves are shorter so we see them scattered everywhere. Still, it's pretty and it's peaceful. That's why I wear it so close to me. It reminds me of the luminous canopy that encircled us after the first rain.

I wrote this poem last year but I wanted to share an excerpt in honor of the Good Omens Worldwide Fandom Picnics on May 10, 2025. @theineffablesociety

The Demon's Howl (a Good Omens Poem, after Allen Ginsberg)
Tumblr media
I saw luminous angels most holy plunge headlong extinguished, melt into sulfur, emerge majestic mad gnashing wild-eyed raven-winged gorgons bedlam, who clawed crimson trails, laughed and shrieked, clawed glass and bone, dribbled poison froth, who hurled bombs of glee shredding starlight and dark matter, warping souls chords sanity. I dashed loped slithered away, up, up, up into Earth verdant garden, crashed into the Angel of the Eastern Gate, nattering fuss and fluff, fastidious,
flung him my heart, fractured weary hopeful, and breathed. -

This poem is a modified version responding to the Sentence prompt from @isiaiowin in @goodomensafterdark
Allen Ginsberg's American Sentence is derived from the haiku form. Like the haiku, it consists of seventeen syllables, but in sentence rather than verse form. I initially wrote seventeen-syllable sentences, but since this was a Ginsberg form, I wanted to pay homage to his iconic poem "Howl" so I modified and extended some of the sentences. #GOetry
The poem is also on AO3 if you would like to give it some love:

Muriel's Adventure
Tumblr media
What’s all this? Why, it’s contraband  --a matchbox scooped up by my hand I get sent to Earth, a strange land a trip unplanned, a trip unplanned
A human police outfit’s worn  Inspector Constable is born to verify a story, sworn, of the lovelorn, of the lovelorn
That one demon feigns his arrest his Heaven Bee look's quite a jest he really puts me to the test I join his quest, I join his quest
Now we wait for the next chapter I hope, though I haven't mapped her, for much happiness and laughter ever after, ever after
-
Thank you to @isiaiowin for the #GOetry prompt @goodomensafterdark
Form: Monotetra
Theme: Adventure
A monotetra is composed of 4-line stanzas, with 8 syllables each line, an AAAA rhyme scheme, with the final line a repeated phrase. I felt unsure at first about how a repeated phrase would work, but I can see now how it's like a musical refrain.

The Arrangement
Tumblr media
We arranged to change the range of who's above, my love, and below, who calls the shots and who follows. As you know, we flow versatile, flexible and all, we can switch not know which is which as we bless and tempt each other and say yes and confess we're best twined and meshed. -
This poem uses the double-entendres of “versatile” (vers) and “switch” to suggest that the angel and demon switch roles in the bedroom (whether top/bottom, dom/sub, etc.) It was inspired by the writer Mlle Kurtz saying, about Aziraphale and Crowley and the top/bottom question, that well, they do canonically do each other’s jobs….
Thank you to @isiaiowin for the #GOetry prompt @goodomensafterdark
Form: Klon
Theme: Arrangement
The klon rhyme scheme was challenging but fun to do. It is as follows: XXAXAXAB XXBXBXXC XXXXXXXC XXCXCXXD XXDXDXAE XXEXEXXF XXXXXXXF XXFXFXXG
I copied the rhyme scheme incorrectly and overlooked that "A" rhyme in the second stanza. Oh well. Next time!

So, I was criminally tight on time in January and really couldn’t read much at all, but fear not: as a demon friend of ours once said, I’m back. True, most of the moots on my corner of Tumblr would have already read most of these fics and poems, but if I can earn one of these wonderful works even just one more reader, that’s my job done. As always, I'm begging you, please don’t judge a fic you haven’t read by the number of kudos. And, as always, I’ll tag the tumblr usernames I know; if you are an author and want your fic taken off this list, please let me know and I’ll remove it. The rest of you, I hope you enjoy these stories and poems as much as I did.
These are the things I loved about
Winter’s Wondrous Fictions
WIPs:
That Isn't Supposed To Happen by @addledmongoose, rated T, chapters 19/22.
Aaahhh, give me Addled’s stories every day for the rest of my life, please and thank you. This is a reverse omens AU. You don't really care for reverse omens, I hear you say? Yep, neither did I, and yet here I am, daydreaming about Azira the demon and Crowley (short for Crowliel) the angel as much as I daydream about our canon Aziraphale and Crowley. This is not something new that happens to me with this great author’s stories, by the way. When writing my own fics, I have to stop and think if I'm referring to something that actually happened in canon or something that happened in Addled’s stories, they're that good. But back to this fic, Azira is just so perfect as a demon, it feels like he was born to be one. Their banter, dynamics, subtle humour and characterisation are, as always, spot on and, oh! The pining! The pining is just so, so good. Oh, and did I mention plot and mystery? I'm loving this story way more than I thought I could love a reverse omens AU, and am sad it's going to be over soon.
Scorn And The Saint-Maker by beardo @e-rated-beardo, rated E, chapters 33/?
This story is a mystery within a mystery. I've only recently started it and am still catching up, but I am hooked. Human university lecturers AU, or is it? (That's not a spoiler if you read the summary). The plot is compelling, the narration and humour delightful, and the prose at times so touching. And, goodness me, it’s hot (all the explicit scenes are skippable). I feel like I’ve stepped into one of those universes that I would never want to leave. There is also some beautiful art by the author that I sadly can appreciate very seldom as it doesn't upload when I'm not on wi-fi, but hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it!
Wavelengths & Frequencies by @shadesofecclescakes and imposterssyndrome @maaikeatthefullmoon rated E, chapters 18/?
This story is such a warm, cozy, comfort blanket. Human enemies-to-lovers where Aziraphale and Crowley work as DJ for the same media corporation. They have a history, but, while we know they do from the beginning, we don't know what it is. Great story, great humour, great characterisation, great fuzzies.
Complete Stories:
You're The Bad Guys by Nebz_AlphaCentauri @alphacentaurinebula rated E, 91k.
Fantastic human, cold war AU. Aziraphale is an MI6 agent, Crowley a KGB agent and they're both tasked to steal scientific plans by their respective sides. It's Armageddon all over again, but with hot scenes. I loved it.
The Last Angel by @bellisima-writes, rated E, 162k.
I don't think there is anything about this epic story that I haven't said before. The author builds an incredible plot and you wonder excitedly where this is all going. You can't stop reading because you want to know what happens and because the prose is so beautiful. Like I've said several times before, this is the most Good Omens-y fic I've read. Let yourself be captured and join Bellisima for this wonderful ride!
The Greater Tadfield Friends Of Music Autumn Concert by CopperBeech @copperplatebeech, rated E, 27k.
I love how this story communicates all sorts of feelings through a fast, concise, no-nonsense  style. Crowley moves to Tadfield and joins the local orchestra. The rest is fiction.
As always, I'm particularly partial to The Them and Warlock making appearances. And I LOVE Zingarelli!
One Shots:
Aziraphale Gets A Clue by Serenity Stargazer, rated T, 3k.
It's Christmas. Aziraphale is in heaven as Supreme Archangel and Crowley wants to get his attention. He succeeds.
A Nice And Accurate Teen Magazine Quiz by @fellshish, rated T, 2.7k.
Fellshish strikes again with this adorable and extremely funny piece in which Crowley takes credit for teen magazines in hell. Then he browses one of the magazines and takes the soulmate quiz. Then Crowley will be Crowley. I'm sure everyone this side of Tumblr has already read it, but if for some reason you haven't yet you're in for a treat!
Poems:
PJs, Optional by FuzzyGoblin and koala2all, rated E.
This hilarious poem is made up of a series of limericks all relating to pyjamas that might or might not be worn by our favourite angel and demon. It manages to be funny, sweet and hot, all in the space of 50 lines. I love it!
(Un)Holy Palmers by @on1occasionfork, rated G.
An incredibly beautiful and moving poem about what is like to express love for one another while hiding it from the powers that be.
Do That Again (And Again) by AlwaysBeMyBaby @alwaysbemybae and OneDapperCat, rated G.
A beautiful through the ages poem about all the ineffable kisses that could have been.
The Demon And The Angel by Hopeless_old_romantic_67, rated G.
Gorgeous poem inspired by The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. Little warning, it is sad. But so beautiful and deep.
A Most Peculiar Spa by AlwaysBeMyBaby and OneDapperCat, rated G.
Lovely and funny poem in which Aziraphale tells Crowley about his latest bubble bath! Be sure to read the notes!

Crowley's Vow, 1941
Tumblr media
My gentle angel, soft, warm, and bright, my job is to guard you, I swear that I will ensure that you're safe all through the long night. Our enemies are shrewd in this bitter fight but you give me hope in a world full of ill, my gentle angel, soft, warm, and bright. I'm tempted to kiss you in the moonlight but I can't have my judgement clouded until I know that you're safe all through the long night. It's such a sweet torture, a tender plight-- my arms long to enfold you but must stay still, my gentle angel, soft, warm, and bright. Friend and foe are captured in my line of sight, I swoop you to shelter when sirens blare a drill, make sure that you're safe all through the long night. One day we'll both soar on wings that take flight; we'll love each other til we've both drunk our fill. Now and ever, my angel, soft, warm, and bright, I vow to keep you safe all through the long night.

Ringed: A Valentine's Day Sonnet from Aziraphale to Crowley
Tumblr media
You yearned for freedom, I felt you ache so. Your longing felt like the vast, outstretched sky, the bluest wide expanse, birds wild to fly. I feared the open would let in a foe, make us targets from above and below. I dreamed us safe from any prying eye --a thatched roof, a cottage, a peaceful sigh. Not opposite but entwined did we grow. I fight for your freedom but ask you be bound and ringed secure by my divinity. With the safest of wings you carry me to most exuberant, unbridled ground. And I would like to spend -- eternity with you. Dear Crowley, will you marry me?
* Thank you to @isiaiowin for the #GOetry prompt @goodomensafterdark
Form: Petrarchan Sonnet (this one has an ABBAABBACDECDE rhyme scheme)
Theme: Engagement/wedding
Also on AO3 if you would like to give it some love.

Azi channels 50 Cent
Tumblr media
Look we lost the Antichrist, it was a foul up But we stopped the world ending, that was a team up Heaven and Hell kidnapped and tried to play us for suckers Then we got 'em back good, thank you Agnes Nutter
Got the Serpent of Eden goin’ Azi you hot I gave my sword away, he gasped and said "you wot" Devoured an ox in Uz, he was spellbound by the sight Now I savor cake and moan, he finds his pants fit too tight
After six thousand years of pinin’ and schemin’ We deserve a lil treat, the rogue angel and demon Ineffable efforts don't stick to the status quo Serpentine anatomy's got two and they're ready to go
You can find me in Hell’s tub basin full of bub'...
This nonsense started when @onedappercat and I were discussing the bubble bath prompt for the GOAD/GOetry Pillow Fight. Dapper suggested Aziraphale imagining the bath in Hell as a bubble bath, and the form of a pantoum, but also said the idea of Aziraphale rapping in his head would be amusing. The pantoum was the official Pillow Fight poem but here's a bonus! Hope you enjoyed it. If you want to give it some love on AO3, it’s here.

Ode to the Angel’s Pajamas (NOT by a tipsy demon)
Tumblr media
Summary: Crowley composes an ode to the angel’s pajamas. Art by @onedappercat
*
O Angel’s Pajamas!
You are silly, ludicrous,
piffling, pifflepuffing,
just, pfffff,
where was I.
So preposterous you are,
pajamas of the angel.
But sometimes, just as I’m poised
to plummet pleasantly
into the perfect pitch dark,
lo!
the angel appears all a-glow,
looking ridiculous in those soft, touchable bed clothes.

Rondel: Resistance
Tumblr media
They've called for a war. Have you heard the news? They must find my resistance so queer I water my plants with my mineral'd tears I'm too tired to fight. Let me sing my blues. I natter to seamstresses 'til they're amused 'til Whickber shopkeepers all call me dear They've called for a war. Have you heard the news? They must find my resistance so queer So many of us have got nothing to lose Forgotten or made into objects of fear A patchwork assembles from far and from near joining together to say "we refuse" They've called for a war. Have you heard the news? They must find our resistance so queer Thank you to @isiaiowin for the #GOetry prompt @goodomensafterdark
