Body dysmorphia and Anorexia
When I think of anorexia, the first imagine in my mind is this picture I once saw: a thin girl looking in the mirror and seeing her reflection as fat.


It may surprise you but not all anorexics are skinny and believe they're fat.
According to the dsmv criteria it's only necessary that someone has a "disturbance in the way in which one's body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self-evaluation, or persistent lack of recognition of the seriousness of the current low body weight".
Sometimes that disturbance is thinking your butts too big, or that your cheeks are too round.
Sometimes you're low weight and you know you're low weight, but you want to be lower.
Then there is atypical anorexia (low bmi is not met) where you don't have to be underweight or even thin to be diagnosed.
You may be average weight and not have a thigh gap or you might have a muffin top, and thats what made you want to restrict.
You may be overweight and your real weight problem is what what led you to restricting.
Body dysmorphia in anorexia can be a general fixation on weight but it can alsoe be a fixation on certain body parts being big, but neither mean thinking yourself as fat. Which may sound confusing at first, until you realize anorexia is an illness of the brain not a fad diet.
