Singapore-Malaysia 2017: Day 03 to 06
Day 03: Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves, and Genting Highlands
My aunt and her husband decided to take us to Kuala Lumpur for two days because, you know, a Malaysian trip's not really complete without a picture of the twin towers.
Most of the 3rd day was spent on the road. Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur takes about five hours. Good thing hindi uso ang traffic doon! Our trip, however, took more than five hours because, 1) our tire suddenly exploded (became flat, but it sounded like it exploded tbh); and 2) we stopped by a couple of gas stations for bathroom breaks.
So anyway, upon arriving in KL, we headed straight to see the Twin Towers. We took a bunch of pics, and I took some family videos for my travel diary.
Finally saw the Twin Towers!
Afterwards, we went to a Chinese temple near Chinatown, then headed to Chinatown for lunch and some souvenirs.

When we got outside of the restaurant, it was raining cats and dogs that we had no choice but to leave. We stopped by Batu Caves before heading to Genting Highlands.
Batu Caves is actually located in Selangor, Malaysia. It's a series of caves with limestone inside. It's also an Indian temple dedicated to their Lord Murugan, the Giant Golden Buddha near the entrance of the caves.
Note: Make sure to wear jeans when you go here because the climb up is very steep, thus requiring you to wear something long because people below might see. You can also bring your own sarong and tie it on your waist.
Day 04: Exploring Resorts World, Cable Car Rides, Going back to Johor
Day 04 was our last day in Genting Highlands, so we spent our remaining time exploring resorts world. We also rode a cable car going down the hotel so we could see the view of the highlands.
I have a fear of heights so this ride made me really nervous
The view was amazing though, so I kinda forgot about the height for a while
cutie pie!
Day 05 & 06: Johor Bahru Temples & Shopping
We spent both of our last full days late since my aunt had to go back to work. We left home around 2 pm on both days, then passed by a couple of temples before heading to the mall.
Sultan's castle/mansion entrance
Hospital where my cousin was born
The two malls we went to were JBCC Komtar (Day 05) and Johor Premium Outlets (Day 06).
The JBCC Komtar is like our SM here in the Philippines (I don't know if it has other branches though). They have H&M, Cotton On, Birkenstock, and a lot more! I enjoyed going around the boutiques because stuff there were a lot cheaper than in the Philippines!
My mom was even able to buy 2 pairs of Birkenstocks for her and my dad for only 600 MYR (6750 PHP only!!!). I was also able to buy a new Charles and Keith wallet for only 1400PHP (and it was on sale!!). Pandora in Malaysia is also cheaper but I wanted to save my money so that I still had money when I came back to the Philippines hahaha.
Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) is like Nuvali naman. Branded items for less, and always on sale. I got a pair of Nike Kaishi Run for 165 MYR (1850 PHP) which was originally priced at 220 MYR (if I remember correctly). There was also a really good froyo place there, but I forgot the name :(
Finally tried Nando's!!! It was so good huhu
Yummy cheese tarts!
This was 7pm in JB!! I was kinda amazed when I realized that the sun sets late there hahaha
Day 07: Until next time, Malaysia!
The last day was bittersweet. I think we all cried before leaving. My aunt who lives in JB rarely goes home, so we were all sad that our week had already ended (two weeks for my other aunt and her kids).
Philippines-bound
This is it for my Singapore-Malaysia travel post! I had so much fun writing this and editing the photos. I'm excited to go on a new adventure this June-July in another country, this time, with my whole family!! So stay tuned for that blog post!
In the mean time, for more updates on what's happening with me, follow me on Instagram (@alyssastuart) and Snapchat (@alyssaxstuart). I don't post everyday, but I update those two things more than Tumblr.

Singapore-Malaysia 2017: Day 01 & 02
Hey, guys! I'm re-writing this post four months after our Singapore-Malaysia trip, and if it's possible to have a travel "hangover", then I HAVE A TRAVEL HANGOVER. LOL. I don't know why, but I found myself browsing through my travel photos and through blog posts of other people the past week, and it made me want to travel more this year. Good thing though because we'll be going somewhere this June! Anyway, here are photos of our week-long stay in Malaysia and a day in Singapore.
Arrived in Singapore Changi Airport a little past 12 midnight, then headed straight to immigration. The pass through the immigration was a breeze, but waiting for our luggage took 10 minutes (or OA lang ako). I swear akala namin, naiwan luggage namin sa Pinas! Imagine our relief when we saw it come through the little door HAHAHA
My aunt and her husband, who actually live in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, met us outside the airport. The drive from the airport to their place is around 1 and a half hours, but I think it took less time because it was past midnight already. We did, however, stop by a Mcdonald's near the hotel because we got really hungry from the trip.
DAY 01: Legoland
Agenda for the day: Legoland!
My mom, my two aunts, my two girl cousins, and I were supposed to go to a mall and Hello Kitty land, but we all decided to go to Legoland instead so we could be with the rest of the family. We ate at KFC beforehand so that we would have the energy to go around the park the whole day. Fortunately, lines were short, so we barely waited five minutes before going on the rides.
Tip: If you're going to Legoland on a weekend, especially during summer, I suggest eating outside the park (there are a couple of restaurants outside) before entering because park food is expensive, plus you'll have more time to go around and enjoy the rides.
Family pic muna before entering the park!
So cute the ticket!! // The entrance going to one of the roller coasters
My cousins and a sleepy, old man
:)
Before entering the 3D show
I seriously loved all the Star Wars displays!
Mom and I with a cute Darth Vader mascot // idk why I even took a picture of a bunch of strollers near the Ninjago entrance
Afterwards, we went back to the hotel to freshen up, then went to a hawker center near the hotel for dinner.
Seriously don't know what these are but they look yummy
Squid tofu and fried broccoli
Some kind of fish
Tip: If you're on a budget, go to a hawker center. They have so many dishes available which won't hurt your pocket.
After dinner, we went to the mall to buy donuts and ice cream as food for our small new year's eve celebration. Unlike in the Philippines, Malaysia celebrates three different new years because of the different nationalities in the country, so we didn't really need a lot of food, plus we were still full from dinner. Mom and I Facetimed my dad and siblings to greet them a happy new year.
Pretty fireworks from a nearby mall
Day 02: Singapore
Despite sleeping late the night before, my mom and I had to wake up early because we were meeting one of her friends in Singapore. We left Johor Bahru around 8 am, then arrived in Singapore around 10 am.
Tip: Buy an EZ Link card for easy travels using the train.
Our first stop was Gardens by the Bay, since it was the place I really wanted to see.
Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay
Love the Christmas decors in the Flower Dome!
Favorite part of Flower Dome
Cloud Forest
Crystal Mountain
After Gardens by the Bay, my mom's friend took us to Marina Bay Sands for lunch. I had the Hainanese Chicken rice and a milk tea, then bought two pieces of French Macarons for dessert. Until now, I regret buying only two, because the macarons were so good but expensive ($2.50SGD per piece). Oh well.
We then rode the train up to Jurong Point (I think), then took a bus to Singapore Zoo.
Singapore Zoo!! I'm excited to see Inuka the Polar Bear
Praying that people will give him food or actually begging for food? I'll never know.
Inuka!
BUNNIES!!!!!
Huge ass tortoise. My little cousins can easily ride these things.
Di ko alam if matatawa ba ako or... hahaha.
We decided to go back to the city to see the Merlion before leaving, but guess what!!! It was raining when we got out to the station. :( so my mom and I just decided to go back to JB, since it was also getting a little late already.
So this is it for part 1 of the SG-MY post. Didn't realize at first how long the post is already so I decided to cut it into two parts hehehehe. Hope you guys enjoyed this post!
