Finally finished this painting after a year of sitting on it. I don't know why I do that.

It took about 8 months, but I finally finished painting these 1997 marine figures by mother found before moving out of my childhood home bound for Colorado. I'm glad I painted these now instead of when I was 7 yrs old, because they made really great holiday gifts back to my family. From left to right, top to bottom, primary species are:
Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Giant Pacific Octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini), Blacktip Reef Shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), Harbor Seal (Phoca vitulina), and Orca (Orcinus orca).
Painted with acrylic paints.

Longfin Mako Shark (Isurus paucus) in colored pencil on cardstock. I just love the way this came out - much less effort for a big “blue ocean” effect.

I can finally post the illustrations I did for MarFund over the last few months for their infographics about fish population dynamics and dispersal in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Hopefully the infographics will be up soon on their website: https://marfund.org/en/mar-connectivity-network/
These are Stoplight Parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) - top two fish are the adults, the blue guy being the Supermale version. The babies on the bottom are a mix of drawings of parrotfish larvae specimens and anatomy based on Richards et al. (2005).
Illustrations done in Prismacolor Colored Pencils and pencil.

All the sea dragons!
Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) Ruby Seadragon  (Phyllopteryx dewysea) Leafy Seadragon  (Phycodurus eques)
Colored with alcohol markers! Much fun was had once I realized every seahorse/dragon is as unique as a thumbprint.

Crabs
More from the commission…here are all the crabs and the horseshoe crab (who isn’t a crab, but an arachnid). One is invasive from far away and another is invasive because range expansion. Crabs are awesome but they are hella hard to draw…had to use geometry crap to draw these and they take way too long for 1.5x1.5 in. Legs and whatnot…

Took me way too long to do these tiny 1.5x1.5′s.
Common molluscs (and one crustacean) of Long Island, NY salt marshes. These guys are for a commission…I’m glad to have these shells just on hand…gonna be more of a pain when I gotta draw the birds in those tiny squares. >____<
