Technology made students as independent learners.
Lives changed dramatically after facing a pandemic. The normal life stopped completely including education. The government had to find a solution for teaching to continue even if the students cannot go to schools. Technology and online teaching were the best solution.
Technology has made students as independent learners. Through technology students can attend their classes anytime and anywhere. All students computers and mobile phones, so they are able to access the class whenever and wherever they are. Because we are using technology to learn we can now choose the environment we want to learn in. Personally, I prefer learning in a quiet place. Sometimes I would carry my laptop and the rest of my stuff and go to a garden near my house to enjoy the nice weather even if I am attending a class. So technology gave the opportunity to enjoy our time even if we are learning.
Another good thing that enhanced the independence of students is the availability of information. Technology will let access numerous resources for the topic we want to learn. Using technology, we can find many sites, articles, docs, and lectures for topic. We can learn it just by sitting in front of computer. If we are capable of using this, we will become independent learners. All course materials including documents, contacts with tutors and colleagues may be accessed via personal computers and telecommunications. Technology overcomes all barriers, makes learning fun and accessible therefore increasing achievement. while searching for information we have the ultimate freedom to pick what we want to include in topic.
To sum up, technology help students acquire more knowledge by using our own efforts therefore we develop ability to search for the information needed.
There are also disadvantages to the online education, it's It puts a lot of pressure on the parents , so the mother who has more than one student in the house it's will be hard to take care of all of them at the same time and in Oman, class times different for school students it's according to school levels, so the pressure is too much for the mother as she do her home duties and teach her children at the same time.
