We need to like. kill this notion in some parts of the internet that being bad/inexperienced at art is some sort of crime??

Improvement is NOT a requirement to be allowed to enjoy doing a form of art.

If someone is doing art as a business/for a living in a situation that requires a certain skill level, that is a completely different can of worms (tho then being under that skill level still shouldn’t be met w/ ridicule/condemned then either)

Even for those who mean well & just wanna be helpful, you should still take a step back and ask yourself why it’s so important that the person gets better at the art they’re doing, if they clearly love doing it no matter what skill level they’re at.

Paraphrasing a point I’ve heard before:

Improvement is inevitable if you do something a lot for a long time, but it’s not obligatory for it to be someone’s main goal/drive in the art they’re doing

Let 👏 people 👏 just 👏 have 👏 fun 👏 and 👏 be 👏 bad 👏 and/or 👏inexperienced 👏 at 👏 things, without bringing them unprompted criticism, pressuring them to improve - or even worse, ridiculing them *cough* i.e. cringe comps *cough*

Bestie I’m afraid to tell you this... but if you don’t want any negative feedback on things you write and only want the positives— you might be in the wrong business. I don’t think the person meant for it to escalate as it did, though they were harsh but part of being a content creator and sharing means having the criticism. Every writer needs criticism to grow and become better, no one is perfect enough to just know what their writing needs sometimes a different perspective is needed.

I think teens need to be able to go to trusted adults and say “I saw something in a porn video that freaked me out and now I’m worried I’ll have to do it too” and then the adult can say “it’s ok to be nervous about sex, but remember that you don’t have to do ANYTHING you don’t want to do, ever, no exceptions” and this should be an ongoing conversation to remind young people that sexual desire isn’t monolithic and they are not uniquely weird, cowardly, or undesirable for expressing their feelings, and they deserve sexual partners who prioritize consent & autonomy always

Hey guys something fucking bad happened

KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.

Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.

Please sign/share the petition and contact your representatives.

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.
