dean on his very successful cooking blog: well, fellow parents, there’s a chill in the air, which means it’s that time of year again! school supply shopping time! my husband is going to have a blast at target picking out new folders and notebooks, since our son jack starts first grade in a week! boy does time fly! when i was his age, six years old, i witnessed my father kill a man in front of me for the first time. it damaged my fragile psyche in ways that i can’t unpack even now, as i approach my late forties. if it wasn’t for the help of my husband and family, i’d likely still be picking at the metaphorical scabs of that particular trauma. below you can find my recipe for seasonal squash soup, which, while i only ever had it once with my uncle bobby while growing up, provided a comforting memory to me during those cold september nights spent in cheap motel rooms, as i was mentally preparing myself to shoplift bread for my brother and i so we could eat the next afternoon.

“Hey Cas, you got your ears on buddy?”

Cas starts screaming like a tea kettle, he blacks out everything in a 50 mile radius, Sam is shopping and thinks there’s a new apocalypse or big bad but he can’t get through to anyone since Cas also took out all the cell towers

Summary: A week after Jack left, he brought Castiel back from the Empty — whole, alive, and standing in front of Dean like nothing had changed, though everything had. Dean’s grateful. Of course he is. But now that Cas is here, really here, Dean is left face-to-face with everything unsaid between them. He knows what Cas confessed before dying, and worse — he knows damn well what he feels in return. But saying it out loud? That’s another story entirely, because there's something broken inside of him.

Dean asks Cas for something no one’s ever asked of him before: to go back in time, to the moment something broke, and stop it from happening. Stop the moment that taught Dean to be afraid of what he wanted most. Stop the moment Dean got broken. 

Stop John Winchester.

I know people like the head canon that Cas would call Dean stuff like "Beloved" or "my love" and romantic shit like that

But I personally prefer him only ever calling Dean by his first name, but saying it like it's the most endearing nickname. Like "Dean" is said in the same vein as "My heart, my soul, my everything". But there is no other word to describe how he feels other than saying Dean's name

Meanwhile, Dean calls him the most atrocious pet names, the borderline inappropriate 1950s carpenter catcalls

“What the hell, man?” Dean growled against Castiel’s mouth.

“Dean, I—” the words were muffled as Dean kissed him again, biting at the angel's bottom lip, and then soothing it with his tongue, before pulling away to scold.

“You didn’t even let me say anything!”

“I’m sorry, De—” Cas tried again but Dean cut Castiel off, lips claiming his once more, a little softer this time, but still just as desperate. Dean’s hands cradled Cas’ face, and he let out a soft sigh as he felt Castiel’s hands drag up his sides and clench in the fabric of his shirt. Dean drew back enough to look Castiel in the eyes. “ You fucking love bombed me and died! You got anything to say for yourself?” Dean demanded, even as he clutched at Cas like he would never let go. The angel stared back, eyes blown wide and lips kiss-puffed and chapped, remaining silent. “Well?” Dean said and Castiel furrowed his brows.

“Oh, sorry, this is usually where you kiss me again so…” Cas trailed off awkwardly and Dean heard Sam snort behind him, as he obliged the angel’s assumption and kissed him long and deep and sweet.

i love how cas is always JUST on the verge of smiling in lazarus rising, as if he really wants to express his joy at seeing dean but hasn't quite figured out how to do it yet

it's even funnier when you notice how he looks like he genuinely wants to murder bobby for interrupting when he's talking to dean

and then he turns back to dean and he's all soft and puppy-eyed and almost-smiling again

like. could he be more in love.
