One didn’t actually have to make a sound for Jaejoong to find them. True, it was easier for him to find them should he hear their voice, or even their particular pattern of breaths should they have a unique way of breathing (and many of them did). But it wasn’t necessary, because unlike their human counterparts, the hybrids held an extensive usefulness in their olfactory senses. A sense that Jaejoong put to work. Hearing someone rolling about in the snow was all Jaejoong gathered as his curiosity brought him nearer. He’d been accompanied outside by another hybrid, only to have them run back indoors for a bit of tea, leaving the brown eared feline unaccompanied and bored. Boredom led to Jaejoong exploring the sounds around him for another to interact with, not realizing he was close enough to sniff them out until Sehun’s scent came into his focus.
Ears perked in eagerness, and tail sashaying behind him at his luck, Jaejoong debates wandering through the snow on his own. That wouldn’t be a wise decision, he didn’t need to spend his time stuck to sitting thanks to a sprained ankle, and he certainly didn’t want to be pulled out from his job as a caretaker due to a sprained wrist. But. . . Sehun so rarely came to him, so Jaejoong ends up carefully walking towards the direction he thinks the other is in anyways.
“Sehunnie? Sehunnie-ah?” he calls out. “What are you doing, dongsaeng? It sounds like someone is playing in the snow, or did Yixing think to bury you like a snowman for being cheeky again?”
He was rolling in the snow, obviously freezing but he didn’t mind, as the snow began falling again. He was happy this year, because it’s the most snow he had seen in a while and he didn’t mind getting a cold if he could just lay there (in his 5 layers of clothes) and enjoy the chill. Snow had always been so pure and beautiful in his eyes, and the fact bugs usually DIED in the snow had been a very nice touch too that had set his mind in piece. With a loud, happy sigh, he laid on a pile of snow and began making snow angels.

🎀 Have yourself a merry little Christmas Let your heart be light 🎀
Today is a beautiful day, and I hope a precious snowflake such as yourself always serves to remember just how amazing you happen to be.
Jaejoong was synonymous to comfort, and if the bunny could keep him as selfishly as he wanted to, it would have happened without hesitation. He was playful, but more often than not, Jaejoong was the light everyone needed in their lives. Chaejin wanted to keep that line shining brightly– warm and safe, ready for the world in all his glory. The one thing he wanted the elder to do today was smile.
[ x ] [ x ] [ x ]
Later in the day, Jaejoong again returns to his room to find gifts left before his door. He’s assuming they’re intended for him after he checks to make sure he’s at the right room, because stealing another hybrid’s things would have been most upsetting a thing to do. Also as with the gifts left to him before, Jaejoong ends up pressing everything to his face, trying his darnedest to suss out the scent of the gifted, but the strong perfume of a scented candle nearly washes everything else out. Its not until he finds the little card, one everyone else probably read, does Jaejoong understand that the gift is from Chaejin. The cardstock smells like the rabbit, probably having thoughtfully rubbed it over his cheek or neck for Jaejoong to get the scent strongly enough. Now with the mystery solved, Jaejoong takes a bite of what smells of chocolate and peppermint sugary goodness, a satisfied groan sounding from behind closed smiling lips as he chews on the cake pop treat. Tossing the scarf about his own neck, Jaejoong is happy to take this haul of Christmas goodies into his room. Busying himself with finding a proper place for the candle, Jaejoong will be sure to seek out Chaejin that evening to give his thanks. Maybe by inviting the rabbit hybrid to his room so they could both enjoy the soothing smell of the candle he’d been given?

For the elder feline, Luhan has made sure that he found something that wouldn’t be too hard on the other, considering eyesight was not something that Jaejoong had on his side. In this light, a fond smile is etched over Luhan’s features as he rests the bag on the door handle leading to Jaejoong’s room, taking care to ensure that it would not be overlooked by the other. Inside the small bag was a small bracelet, simple in design with a sterling silver with a clasp that was easy to use. Alongside it rested a few small balls of yarn and fabric, considering the other had gone through so much trouble to hand-knit items for many of the other hybrids, including himself. The small pot of poinsettias rested idly by the door, and he could only hope that the feline’s sense of smell would aid him in finding them, rather than he find them by tripping over them.
Its not the poinsettias that Jaejoong trips over, but rather his own feet as his too-big socks (a pair that he messed up the knitting with. . .) catch under one another when he stops short thanks to a curious twitch of his nose. The smell is a sickly sweet sort of milkiness, but also an earthy scent of leaves, which told Jaejoong of the plant that was a fixture of Christmas. Exactly why the red flowers are synonymous with the Christian holiday, Jaejoong honestly couldn’t say, but he did very much enjoy the velvet texture of them, and the fact that something could be kept alive until spring returned in its bountiful glory.
Nose twitching in delight as his tail sways excitedly, Jaejoong crouches down for the flowers, only noting the bag around the outside of his room’s door handle when one of his ears brushes the bag from leaning forward. The ear flicks backwards quickly, wanting to avoid the foreign object, but it perks forwards again once Jaejoong’s got his hands on what can only be a gift bag. There is an eagerness about Jaejoong that’s quite childlike, though he wouldn’t be embarrassed with himself even if someone caught him, after all, what wasn’t to be exited about waking up to presents outside his door on Christmas morning?
“Who was my secret santa?” he wonders aloud. Taking the bag and poinsettias into his room, its alone he searches for the treasure the gift bag holds. After he’s thoroughly sniffed everything he’s received for the telling trace of scent left behind by the secret santa of course.
#luhanamx#[ if only they had shared gifts all together in a party or something jaejoong would have been such a dumb child weeps#submission

Luhan’s not sure what brought about such a change of emotions, but he knows that it isn’t exactly unwelcome. It is a foreign topic to him, being able to show such things in front of others, but Jaejoong has become one that Luhan doesn’t necessarily mind opening up around, and the elder is one he finds immense comfort in. With Jaejoong’s easily given smiles, to his kind demeanour and lovely personality, down to the quirks and tidbits that made Jaejoong, Jaejoong, it was hard not to be at ease around the feline.
With such thoughts, it doesn’t bother him the least bit when he’s tugged into a close hold, with the feline’s cheeks pressed against his own. In fact, Luhan quite melts into the touch, an unsure smile twitching across his lips that quickly becomes content. His tail waves lazily behind him in a display of happiness, and he shuffles closer to the other in order to have them lean on one another. His eyes alight with excitement at the prospect Jaejoong offers, and he nods against he other, humming in thought.
“I agree, and even if I’m younger, I’m not exactly one of the newer ones either. I’m already 22 as it is, and in spring I’ll age another year,” he muses thoughtfully, brushing his thumb unconsciously over the elder’s knuckles. “Even if they don’t know how to deal with you, I’m sure someone will come along and see you for who you really are. How could they not love you? You’re kind, genuine, and a true inspiration, you’re thoughtful and caring, and…and…” he takes a breather and blinks, noting that he’s caught himself in the midst of yet another ramble.
“Ah, sorry…” he apologises sheepishly, though he perks up at the other’s last few words. It sends the younger into thought for a short while, though the silence isn’t uncomfortable as he’s left to his thoughts. He speaks after a while, his voice sure and steady. “I think you’re right. After all, for all the evil that exists, there has to be some good, right? I don’t mean to feel so pessimistic,” he mumbles dejectedly, letting their clasped hands fall between them, “but I wish I could see for myself. I’m so curious, but I’m afraid too. I think I’d just prefer staying here with you and Chaejin,” he smiles softly.
Jaejoong chuckles, the sound growing from small reverberations in his chest to into a more pronounced laugh as amusement bleeds through the content. He can’t help but to pull himself from the simple yet extraordinary comfort that comes from their easy physical contact which he continues to maintain, because Luhan talking as though he’s old certainly makes Jaejoong feel. . . well. Quite old. He keeps his tongue in check from teasing at Luhan, surely the fact that he’s laughed at the other enough for the younger to understand the feline’s humor.
The laugh mellows out again though, the inclination to fall into a purr warming through him once again at all the endearing words Luhan describes the elder with. Jaejoong isn’t sure what to say in reply to that, such high praise and from someone he valued in return, he can’t quite think of words to describe his thankfulness for Luhan’s care towards him. Instead, the purr finally manifests, if its only for a short few seconds before he’s interrupted by having to think again. This conversation could die quite quickly if Jaejoong just allowed himself to dissolve into that melty gooeyness that filled his stomach whenever he let his purring take over.
“I won’t be disappointed by a future of staying here with those I care for, with those like you and Chaejin-ah. And I wouldn’t call you pessimistic either Hannie,” he says, sweeping his free hand upwards to pet his fingers through the younger’s hair, his eyes unfocused but filled with the emotion of sincerity. “It wouldn’t be fair to discount the things the others have been through. . . It makes you a good friend to all of us, for not neglecting to remember even the things that aren’t so pretty. I. . . will admit its something I sometimes try not to think about. . .”
Sighing with a small chuckle, though this time the sound is more self deprecating than amused, Jaejoong leans forwards to pull the fox into a hug, needing it for his own comfort.
“I’m glad you liked the gift dongsaeng,” he tells the younger, pulling away from the hug and diverting himself from a topic that will dampen his thoughts. “There shouldn’t be any colds caught this year, not if you all wear my gifts when you go out. Take turns even, and bundle yourself one at a time in all of them combined, I don’t want to see anyone suffering an illness this winter, alright?”

To grandpa.
Making a drawing for the other had been more than a hard task for the sole reason that the man was obviously visually impaired. Thus his drawing, although as realistically as he could manage and yet not quite detailed filled as he had hoped, had taking him probably the longest to make. The sole reason for that was the fact that this drawing was one you could actually fill. He had taken a stuffed animal he got and shaved it off and with a lot of painfully delicate glue work, managed to glue the fur to the page to make the bunny. The fur was glued otherwise to a bumpy paint work, so that the pink hollow of the ears as still felt when one would run their fingers against it, as well did the eyed while the nose had been slightly more stuck out against the fake fun and smooth, like he imagined a bunny nose would be. The box itself was outlined with colors and drawn in the same bumpy way to have it stand out against the otherwise flatter surface of the ground while the snow was made out of soft cotton and tender satin fabric to help visualize the touch of flakes and the bumps on the ground. The entire painting was full of touch, bumps and dents helping the other to be able to feel his Christmas gift while with it he attached a note he had basically holed through a piece of paper in the best braille he could manage.
“Merry Christmas, old man. You’re a bunny, here’s a bunny. I have another drawing for you. It’s a bit less clear to though though. So come ask me what it is. -Hun”
While the other drawing attached had been meaningful on it’s own, Sehun’s Braille skills could go only so far, and so could his hand as he tried to make this specific drawing as sense filled as possible.
Its. . . Its almost too much for Jaejoong to take in. No, it IS too much for him to take in at once. He’ll need a lot longer than a few moments of silence where he does nothing but breathe in the scent of the painting while he runs his fingers of the mix of materials, and feels the effort and thought put into every detail Sehun has laid out for him. He’ll need a few minutes out of every day for a very long time to come to run his fingers over it again and again, so that he can glean something new to him from it every time.
Like this, Jaejoong is rendered torn between continuing to look over the gift with his fingers - made more sensitive with each pass of his memory - and the impulse to throw hims arms around Sehun to feel the source of this gift too. Jaejoong’s always liked to think that he’s been able to read the younger in his own ways, that he can see the parts of Sehun that aren’t allowed to blossom, but he wants to renew the Sehun he thought he understood for this new creature that’s handing him such a thoughtful gift now. For as kind and helpful as so many of the hybrids are to him despite his difficulties with so many things, its a bit rare that Jaejoong is given something so uniquely meaningful to him. Nobody else would likely see this piece of art in the same way Jaejoong can, and it makes him think of his blindness not as a disability, but rather as though he has a unique point of view to share.
Unable to immediately toss himself at Sehun because of the younger’s lack of bodily presence currently (smart move on Sehun’s part if he didn’t want Jaejoong hugging the life out of him), Jaejoong ends up just silently sitting himself down, right there on the floor without a care, and loses some of his time to just the movement of his fingers and the images created by it in his mind. Later, he’ll hunt down Sehun with his keen hearing and sensitive nose, and show his gratitude with a firm hug and a kiss to the younger’s forehead.

Eyes widening in sincere incredulity, Chaejin felt his lips part to shape a small ‘o’, a boyish rise of inquiry painting across his spirits to the idea of someone who seemed well inclined to knowing the ways of the world by both maturity and experience– well, not having his own mistletoe kiss; such a response was not due to be under a negative light, for in actuality, it was one of the cutest things the bunny had found the opportunity of listening to. Placing the spring of plant upon his lap carefully, he nodded slowly, nose wriggling distantly as he listened, half of him wondering if he would be able to help the elder– in no way was he an experienced kisser, and he more than likely wouldn’t be able to mimic the series of oddities viewed on a television screen, but he did know how nice it felt to peck someone on the cheek, and he found that he wouldn’t have minded this experience with the elder feline. It was a simple task, and however much the thought alone licensed his ideal touch of mortification, Chaejin believed to his heart that it’d be okay.
Lifting a hand to rub at his nose instinctively, his attention kept to the feline, though an admittedly distracting factor happened to be that tail– certainly longer than his own, the appendage seemed to have a mind of its own, correlating to the way Jaejoong felt. There was nothing synonymous to a factor deeming greater than just cute to describe just how it looked. “That would actually be a good idea– I wonder how many people will have to do the thing if I climb and pin it above the entrance…” He mused, cheeks darkening just a little, because he’d have to be significantly careful when it came to such, wanting very much not to kiss anyone. And a certain fox would quite possibly be tugged aside from such a thing for reasons he wouldn’t choose to voice. “Ah! But I had a mission,” he continued, tone lowering just a little out of innocence, gaze lowering to the mistletoe settled upon his thigh. “What would you say if I held it above your head, hyung?”
“And I would happily help you if that’s what you’ve decided, I’d hold any ladder or even let you scale my shoulders if need be,” Jaejoong intones, as eager to be a part spreading this particular type of holiday spirit as if he’d thought up the idea himself. He’d definitely offer his assistance if Chaejin needed someone to help him pin up that little bouquet of affectionate mischief, even if it was only moral support for doing something that hadn’t been given permission by the ‘big brother’ of the company they lived under.
Still smiling as he thinks of all the kisses people would share because of his assistance, Jaejoong only has a moment to register confusion and interest over this mention of a ‘mission’ Chaejin brings up. It only lasts so long because the next words offered are certainly unexpected, considering who has spoken them, but in no way unable to be received. No, Jaejoong is quite taken with the idea that Chaejin has just put into motion, in a rather adorably flirtatious manner at that.
“What would I say?” he slowly returns, unable to keep his face straight as a smile starts to curl his lips into something both easing into pleased and excited. Jaejoong was a sucker for physical affection, and sharing a kiss with every hybrid he called family was definitely of interest (even though if they were actually family that would be rather improper. . .blame the system they were raised in for screwing Jaejoong’s logic).
“Hm, well. . . I probably, wouldn’t say anything at all,” he finds himself saying, his body speaking for itself as he leans in closer, hands that have come to touch Chaejin’s arms sliding up to seek the younger’s face out. He had to have at least a small grasp of the other’s jaw if this wasn’t going to end up in a blundering mush of lips.
“I’d not say anything because I’d just do this.”
And without the mistletoe actually making it above his head, the elder feline leans in to give the rabbit a gentle christmas inspired kiss.

For the abnormally skittish fox hybrid, it had never been easy opening up to others. He’d always been ostracised, never including in games played as children, and rather indulging himself in a fantasy world that he and he alone could cherish and retreat to whenever reality was too much for him. It was his way of coping, of realising that if one did not wish to bear the weight of reality, then a world all their own could help them make it through. “You’re right. I wonder everyday what the world outside these walls is like.”
His eyes widening marginally in surprise at the other’s words, Luhan gives a thoughtful nod, and brushes his fingers knowingly over Jaejoong’s knuckles before he takes the chance to speak. His thoughts are a jumbled mess, and he’s not sure if he can properly convey them to the other without tripping over his own words or inadvertently saying something wrong, but he knows he’s got to find some way to try. “Humans certainly are interesting creatures,” he begins, his cheeks cracking yet another smile at the look of happiness blatantly on display courtesy of the elder’s expression.
“I have always liked to think that they were fearless and brave, like the stories they told us when we were kids. That we should be nice and stay on their good sides so that we’d always be protected when we’re adopted earlier. But as I grew up, I realised that the good side isn’t always necessarily their predominant side. I saw more and more hybrids returned, like Chaejin. I saw more get their hearts broken, saw more come back empty and unsmiling like before they’d left. It was then that I truly realised the outside world isn’t all it’s made up to be, and we have never, nor will we ever, I think, understand human nature.” He stops his tangent before it can get too far, realising that somewhere along the way his grip on Jaejoong’s hand had tightened further and his eyes were tearing. He blinked, unaware that he’d been capable of such a response, for even when he was bullied the hardest, even on his darkest days, Luhan had shown no emotion, had shed not a tear.
“But,” he began again, his voice softer and his grip loosened once more, “I would very much like to get adopted in pairs. I think it would very much like to take on my first home with you, or perhaps Chaejin. Do you think they’d take us in threes? I think it’d get a bit expensive at that point,” he grins, a short chuckle leaving his lips.
Listening to Luhan, Jaejoong feels as though he’s getting to know a part of the younger he hasn’t met before, and it gives him a mental image of someone new, and so very different from how he’d seen Luhan in his mind thus far. That isn’t a bad thing though, instead, it intrigues Jaejoong, has him feeling like he’s listening to a well loved piece of music, something classic, but then hearing a different rendition of it and being surprised by the new imagination that brought it life. While it is a serious topic, he doesn’t feel burdened in the slightest by listening to Luhan speak his views, but instead feels like the discussion is taking them outside of their familiar walls without being daunting in its venture of the unknown.
Unable to let such a notion of the other wanting Jaejoong to stay in his life, even after that fateful adoption that had so many hybrids leaving without being known again from their starting place, Jaejoong winds up keeping their hands still clasped together. Tugging Luhan closer. he rubs their cheeks together affectionately with his eyes closing in delight. He’s just on the edge of a purr developing, his happiness only needing a slightly more thorough soak in his chest to produce that sound.
“Maybe we could talk the company into giving some kind of deal,” he says, half in jest and half in actual curiosity. “Or maybe I’d be given for a lower price? I’m not so young as I used to be, not to mention there’s many of these humans that stumble around how to deal with me.” His words come with a warm tone, like he finds the humans who don’t know what to do with a blind hybrid amusing, no hint of remorse or bitterness to be found in his voice. He’s making fun of those rich people, always having found it funny that they could talk as if they knew so much, but then be baffled by a creature who couldn’t see their well maintained appearances.
“You spoke of Chae-ah, and the others, who have returned to us, and I felt what you’ve said, about their smiles having gone away. It hurts to think of, but, I think that’s the risk, wherever there is happiness possible, the opposite can be found too. I hurt the most though, if they have thought that reason to give up on their happiness. And not for someone else, but just for themselves. There is no reason why here can not be home. I am always happy to have them home with me.”
#luhanamx#interact.#[ ugh i know what you mean i do the same thing. . . but fyi i love reading your replies so its no hardship for me to read lots of writing xD

“Very.” She confirmed. The flakes were only light ones in comparison to the larger ones falling earlier, but they were still just as pretty; little drops of ice falling from the sky. She liked the thought of snowflakes a lot too, but she still deemed it a lot too cold outside to actually try catch them. “You’ll catch a cold if you’re out too long though– it looks cold. It feels cold.” She shivered a little at the thought of going out in it. “Why is snow cold?” It was a stupid question, but still the feline let it slip out her lips with a small pout.
Kaeun tilted her head as she listened to what the elder hybrid had to say, her lips parting a little in realization and understanding. How Jaejoong described it fit as a better explanation to way she had been thinking about it, but now she could understand a lot more what he’d meant before.
“Ahh.. that makes a lot of sense actually. So they’ll love us all year round, just more in the winter? Does that mean humans get really lonely through winter?” There she was questioning again, but really, she had a lot of questions whirling through her mind about humans. Maybe one day she’d have them all answered if she was ever picked for adoption. “It sounds sad. To wake up alone and come home to a quiet house too.. at least if one of us were with them then– ah, it does make a lot of sense now. You’re right.” The feline sighed more out of sadness for those that had to do that, the ones that couldn’t afford to buy one of them. It must be sad. Thinking about it, a lot of it was sad really.
“Well I would hope I’m at least sensible enough not to stay out so long as that, but. . .” and here he feels a grin slip out over his features, morphing it into a sheepish kind of expression. “I’ve done such stupid things as that in the past, so maybe if you keep a watch on me and drag me back instead when I start looking blue you could save me from my own clumsiness?” he asks her with an expression both cheeky and innocent, which would probably be odd on someone his age if he were human. But as a hybrid, its probably not so abnormal to retain some of the more childish inclinations, their kind never having to ‘grow up’ in the same way as the people that come to adopt them.
Hearing her speak of sadness, Jaejoong reacts in the way that he feels instinctively, and reaches out his arms to hug her shoulders again. His hand are gentle and he bends down to nuzzle just a bit against one of her ears, not so rough to incite any kind of reaction or to tickle her, just a reassurance for the both of them. The softness of her hair and ear against his nose and mouth giving him a warm comfort even as they discuss a cold topic.
“Livening up someone’s days and nights really isn’t a bad way to live when you think of it now is it? I can only imagine anyone that adopted one of us would be grateful, so very grateful, for the existence of another to warm up with. But it is more than that alone, because then they could get to know us. . . it would take time but I think that would be the second comfort that we’d give them, one more unexpected than the first reason for seeking out a companion. Maybe the snow is cold for this reason?” he lifts his head, adding a charm of jest to his voice. “So that they can get tired of shivering alone and come meet us to shiver alongside? I can’t think of any other reason why the snow should be cold~”

tidbits
Making up for his lack of proper eyesight by relying more intensively on his hearing and sense of smell, minor differences in body mannerisms can be observed in Jaejoong on a daily basis.
His ears are constantly at attention, and seem to shift by their own doing, as though not at all connected with his focus at any particular moment. He can be having a conversation with someone while his ears independently swivel to the sounds going on around him, yet still remain fully in tune with the conversation at hand. For as lax in posture as he often is in the comfort of his known surroundings, Jaejoong’s ears work vigilantly. They often appear at odds with the rest of Jaejoong, and twitch about with an almost anxious demeanor, wanting to capture every detail of sound so Jaejoong can picture his surroundings in his own way.
Scents are where Jaejoong sometimes loses his focus, lending him prone to following his nose. He won’t hesitate to push his face as close to the source of a smell he wants to investigate either, so that he can get full breaths of the pure scent without it intermixed with anything else in the air. He too will use taste to investigate far more often than others would, taking a small nibble or a lick of something to acquaint himself with it if the object doesn’t seem to smell of ill. Whether this tasting has to do with blindness or if its just Jaejoong is uncertain though.
Although he generally fits in with those who can see properly, some of these characteristics portray him as slightly different than the majority, giving him a definite individualism in mannerisms. Touching frequently is a requirement most don’t fulfill as often as Jaejoong, and the unfocused stare or random movement of his eyes can throw off those that aren’t used to him as well. It is sometimes hard for others to really believe he is blind, when there appears to be nothing wrong with his eyes from a cosmetic point of view, making it difficult for others adjust to his slightly off staring or wandering gaze.

@kyungsooamx
He saw the other Hybrid around from time to time however getting a gift from him was weird but not exactly in a bad way; they weren’t close, nor they really talked so he didn’t know what to say at first, looking rather surprised. After a few moments he finally smile sweetly at him. “Thank you so much-! And merry Christmas too. Would you like to have a tea eith me..i just made a cake and…in order to thank you…” he murmurs, feeling shy.
Jaejoong may have gotten something heartfelt just in the act of giving to others, but he wouldn’t deny liking the returned affection or shared time that came from his gifts sometimes. While he would be perfectly happy have the knitted garment accepted with little more than a thank you, the question of sharing some tea and cake warms Jaejoong’s chest in very much the same way a sip of an herbal tea would. The elder feline can feel the happiness form into a smile on his lips when he nods as he agrees to the offer. His hand reaches out to Kyungsoo to alight a grasp on the younger’s elbow, so that Kyungsoo might lead him to the table to share a little treat of sweet and companionability.
“I’d love some cake. And tea of course. But I’m going to be honest and say that I’m happy to have cake with a side of tea, rather than how most people probably intend it, to have tea with a side of cake,” he tells Kyungsoo, an indulgent grin spanning his features while his tail mimics the look on his face with its own happy swaying behind him.

@amxmyungsoo
Myungsoo blinked confusingly up at the other, hands unconsciously accepting the gifts that were given to him.
“Thank you,” he replied softly, eyes still twinkling with confusion but a hint of excitement after having spot the candy cane. The feline always did enjoy them; they were his favourite during the Holiday season. “Merry Christmas.” His eyes slowly disappearing as the corner of his lips tugged into a bright smile. One that was not shown often, making it almost uncharacteristic of him to do such an action.
The ‘thank you’ is spoken so gently, that Jaejoong rather thinks he feels the words inside himself than hears them. Myungsoo had such a gentle voice, was a very gentle soul too, but there is something even softer about those two words of thanks that Jaejoong hears when the other takes the gifts from his hands. The reception of his gifts in such a simple manner basks Jaejoong in a downy warmth, the instinct to reach out and touch leading the elder’s hand out towards the source of such comfort. Alighting a hand on Myungsoo’s chest, he moves it until his fingers are gently wrapped around the other’s upper arm, Jaejoong’s body following along somewhat, bringing him closer to the other hybrid. Jaejoong’s free hand reaches and searches until it can touch at the gifted sweater Myungsoo is now holding.
“If it doesn’t fit you well, let me know. I would be happy to fix it.”
Now that he’s touching Myungsoo, Jaejoong is having a hard time drawing himself away, missing how they used to spend more time together in the past. Something that had changed since Myungsoo’s departure, and then unexpected return. Unthinking of anything but soaking in the other hybrid’s nearness, Jaejoong’s hand makes up a mind of its own, moving with a stroke of palm over the younger’s shoulder, the shoulder blades, like he’s trying to map out the other again.

“Yes that!” He responded quickly, his gaze falling upon the taller of thepair in a moment of fondness, the air of relaxation seeming to multiply tenfold in the midst of someone who radiated a release of pressure to every inch of the aspect. Nosing against the feline’s hand as it measured forward to indicate his position, the younger peeked up with somewhat of a boyish smile to match the features etched perfectly to compliment just how he happened to conduct. Ignoring the flush of pink dusting delicately across his cheeks, he found comfort in the fact that Jaejoon couldn’t quite view the way he appeared upon mention of such an embarrassing topic.
Crossing his legs to resemble a pretzel, Chaejin offered a bright grin, fingertips busied with the spring of plant between as he gathered the words to respond, a spill of nervousness leaking from his demeanor; his intentions weren’t double sided, nor would he strive to make another uncomfortable, but the matter still stood that he had this ice breaker of sorts, and his curiosity was always running to get the better of his. Rubbing at the side of his cheek out of habit, the bunny exhaled inaudibly, his tone lowering shyly, “Have you ever– you know. Done that under a mistletoe?”
The sudden shift from tentative to eagerness only delights Jaejoong, since he can share the bubbling of curious energy in himself for the topic as well. Chaejin’s outward enthusiasm only seems to last for those two words though, the expression buried under an innate shyness it seemed. Again though, this was normal behavior for the rabbit hybrid, something Jaejoong never found to be bothersome in the slightest.
Sniffing at the air, his nose narrowing in on the object that seems to be the matter at hand, Jaejoong realizes that the plant is actually present between them. So, this meant a conversation perhaps more for practicality’s sake, and not just that of a curious mind seeking out an elder for information. Reclaiming himself from the distraction of sniffing at the odd aroma (there’s something a little sickly sweet about the mistletoe, telling the feline hybrid he ought not to sample it with his tongue), Jaejoong sits upright once more, head and ears tilted as he makes sense of the other’s question.
“What? Do you mean kiss?” He can’t help but to be amused that Chaejin would find it embarrassing to even speak of kissing, having to refer to the action as ‘that’ instead of calling the intimate affection by its proper name.
“Maybe?” Jaejoong offers, expression forming into one of consideration as he tracks back into his memories. “I can’t say for certain. If I had walked beneath it and not known. . . that’s possible. I can’t really recall the scent of mistletoe before this, and I suppose since I can’t distinctly remember it, then my answer for now will be no.”
He pauses, the squint of his searched thoughts reforming into something else as he passes one hand over the other’s knee, a palm of comfort remaining there once it’s settled.
“Why are you curious about my history with this herb dongsaeng? Are you figuring if you ought to pin that up someplace in the halls?”

The reassuring touch given by the other is enough to calm Luhan’s nerves, even if he himself is vaguely unsure of what was causing threads of insecurity and doubt to seep within his mind. However, it all vanished in an instant, and with the warmest of smiles, he clasped onto the other’s fingers gingerly as he listened to him speak. He gives a short nod, more for himself than the bunny, and he knows deep within his heart that the other is right, and that the holiday season was more so about the emotions and feelings made to feel, rather than simply fearing if one was a hindrance or not.
The touching also served to help the otherwise withdrawn and skittish fox to open up, and he was quick to give an answer. “I suppose you’re right. I’ve never had so many friends around the holiday season, and gifts were rarely given to me, so to have such experiences this year is new to me,” he chuckles somewhat sheepishly, his own thumbs brushing gently over Jaejoong’s knuckles.
He tilts his head at the answer received, and though it was one he was expecting, the fox still can’t help but have a small wish for Jaejoong’s own happiness to be fulfilled in whatever way the feline wanted it. His heart swells in admiration and passion for the other, and he wishes that the humans that come by on a daily basis to peruse the selection of hybrids weren’t so shallow, that they could see Jaejoong for who he truly was.
It startles him when the question is tossed right back in his direction, and Luhan blinks for a moment before his thoughts are scattering to find the right words to convey his feelings. “Well, I…” he trails off, flustered and unsure of just how to answer, because he doesn’t know the answer himself. He tries again, this time hoping that his sentences may run on without interruption. “I don’t know if I may be a suitable companion for some. Of course that is not to say that others won’t be different, but in any case, I feel as you do. Home is here, and I don’t know if I’d be able to leave if the time came,” he whispers the last part, his grip on Jaejoong’s hands tightening ever so slightly.
The firm warmth shared between their palms, the twining of their fingers that felt of security, these things allow Jaejoong to keep himself in tune with Luhan’s emotions. Its his way of seeing the expressions his questions bring about in the other, giving Jaejoong information for every moment that it in turn provides comfort to the elder as well. Sometimes the world moves quickly around him, and while he is often happy to get just as caught up in everything, its nice to have moments like this as well.
A hum of acknowledgement and agreement for Luhan’s answer purrs from Jaejoong’s throat in a thoughtful softness.
“The unknown is certainly not easy, just as compelling and interesting as it is frightening. I can’t. . . entirely shut out the idea of leaving this place, its too mysterious and different not to wonder about. But. . .” he shrugs as he trails off, letting that speak for itself on the matter. He’s not getting any younger, and most of the people looking to adopt, well, they’ve spoken about favoring the mid twenties, an age Jaejoong has just slipped past.
“What do you think though, of it being like? I wonder if we share any of the same crazy ideas? As far as getting a home outside of this one, it would be nice to see if what I’ve imagined about the humans is right or not,” he informs Luhan, a secret amusement for his humorous unshared thoughts involving the lives of humans showing on his face. “Perhaps we could find someone to take us in together? Well, any two of us? That might be something worth talking about to the director don’t you think? It might make adjusting to a new life more of an adventure, if its done hand in hand with someone from our family. Then again. . . I’m sure others would loathe the idea.” A bit of a smirk edges along his lips. “Finally to be the center of attention, only to realize they have to share that spotlight? Maybe there’s a reason to the rhyme of sending us off one by one?”

It wouldn't be difficult to figure that Chaejin was drawn to the elder curiously by every standard of the word, from the difference in subspecies to the quirks that made Jaejoong nothing but himself-- and that, was special. Albeit a shy bunny, he still found himself comfortable in the presence of the taller, which was why he was well inclined on talking to him about something he found to be embarrassing. "Hyung..." Taking a breath, he peeked up. "How do you feel about mistletoes?"
The ear closet to the younger twitches in Chae’s direction when the rabbit hybrid approaches, the triangle shaped appendage on Jaejoong’s own body turning towards the younger while Jaejoong’s focus remains half on the project in front of him. Its only when the younger speaks in that tentative manner does Jaejoong’s focus completely readjust to the other hybrid, both ears swiveling towards Chaejin in avid interest.
“Mistletoe?” he questions, demeanor even perking up some as he leans closer to Chaejin a bit, one hand reaching out to locate a part of Chaejin for the blind hybrid’s tactile senses to touch. “You mean the kind that’s supposed to be used for kissing? That kind?”
Where Jaejoong sits, his tail curves in silent eagerness for the topic beside him.
