Word of the Week:New Year
The word New Year for me represents a lot. A New Year means to celebrate a fresh start. To restart and have another go at things this year. The New Year times also reminds me that it is a time of celebration with family and friends. It inspires me to look forward to a New Year of opportunities and a chance to express myself creativity in a different way than I did the year before in order to develop myself and improve my skills.

City of Coventry
Walking around Coventry on a sunny day can be worth it. You will get to see things you don’t normally see or appreciate on a gloomy day. The bright shining sun exposes Coventry’s secret beauties all the way from the historic architecture to the natural nature surrounding it.

Word of the Week: Unexpected
The word “Unexpected” for me represents the surprises in life. Those you do not expect are unexpected. Things that happen that you don’t think of or don’t think will occur. This could be positive or negative. Something unexpected that is positive could be a pregnancy or a wedding proposal. However, unexpected occurrences don’t always have to be on that big of a scale and can be small little things that either boost your day or bring it down.
Some positive unexpected occurrences that have happened to me recently aren’t on a big scale but can be small things such as an old friend phoning me up to ask how I am. As I was not expecting to receive that phone call, it increased my mood for the day. Normally having expectations can lead to disappointment. If I expect that I am going to get a really good grade in some coursework and I don’t, I would be very disappointed. However, if you keep expectations low then it can only go up from there.
Something that I will be developing is my expectations. It is a hard thing to do but I will try to not expect everything. The more things that come unexpected can be some of the most memorable and special moments and memories. It means I won't be disappointed with a lot of things and will in turn have a lot of pleasant surprises.

Golden Hour
Sometimes you can catch the most beautiful moments just by looking out your window at the right time. The golden sun can instantly turn everything into a beautiful sight for the eyes, it creates one of those moments you don’t want to miss.

Word of the Week: Technology
The word “Technology” for me represents new knowledge and ideas. technology is usually associated with the future but I see it mainly for new ideas and new ways to apply knowledge. The word is usually associated with computers and science.
For me personally, technology is something exciting and new technology is what I look forward to. It is exciting to learn about technology, this could be from a health and science point of few but for me I think of computers and gadgets. Being a big fan of Apple, I am constantly excited to see their new technology and learn about it all not only to educate myself but to educate others.
Having an interest in technology advances me through certain aspects of being a Graphic Designer as technology is heavily involved. It’s about using your knowledge alongside the technology to design and create.
I would love to have some sort of input in new technology as I love experimenting with tech and manipulating things using my own knowledge through trial and error and experimentation.

Word of the Week: Writing
The word “Writing” to me means a form of expression. It’s a way of expressing your thoughts and feelings through a combination of letters. Unlike design, writing doesn’t rely on a visual, instead it makes your create the visual in your mind.
Writing helps you delve into the deepest part of your mind, either rewinding to past memories or searching for your future ideals and thoughts that are being conjured up on a daily basis.
Currently I am using writing for this entire PDP project. I am using words to express my thoughts, writing the exact ideas down in turn allowing me to visit back to certain thoughts instead of them disappearing after a day in my mind.

Taking a breath
Sometimes you can get caught up in a lot of things nowadays such as technology, social media and modern city life. It was nice to go to a park on the outskirts of Leicester and walk about observing nature. Inspiration doesn’t always has to come from modern city buildings.

SnapCode - Coventry
I was walking around Coventry earlier and happened to come across this piece of paper stuck on a pole. It was a SnapCode which could be scanned into Snapchat. I opened my app and did so and it was a Augmented Reality filter that someone had designed. I find it amazing at how people can share a physical piece of paper like so and for me to just walk by, understand what to do and then get to see their creation!

Word of the Week: Holiday
The word “Holiday” is a word that brings joy. Referring to a relaxing holiday, it is a time where you relieve stress by doing activities you wouldn't usually do or have time to do. Some may choose to travel abroad to a hot country and relax in the sun but personally holidays can even be the easter break where all I do is relax at home and watch movies in bed. Of course I could never turn down a holiday abroad but lot’s of things have to be planned out and considered.
Firstly, where would I want to go? For a relaxing holiday I would pick somewhere tropical like Barbados. It would be the perfect place to enjoy the sunny weather and relax on the beach with a nice cold cocktail.
The last holiday I went on was in Summer 2017 where I visited the beautiful city of Rhodes. It was a relaxing holiday that also came with many activities to do with my friends, such as water sports. For this Summer I would like to go on a city break, maybe somewhere like Dubai as there is lots to do from shopping to even relaxing on the man-made beaches.

Photoshoot
For my advantage course I am taking a Adobe InDesign course. I wanted to use my own imagery so I decided to a photoshoot. I haven’t done a studio shoot for almost a whole year so it was exciting to do it again. I used my flatmate as my model and I took inspiration from the clothes I wear and imagery from magazines and instagram. I always try and take as many images as I can so I have a lot to experiment with. I quickly came up with a mockup design as I like to experiment with the images I take and compositions that are in my head to see which outcomes work the best.

Word of the Week: Deadlines
The word “Deadlines” is frightening. A deadline is a time or date when something must be accomplished otherwise it results in failure. For me I have multiple deadlines for various things. I have deadlines for my coursework, if I don’t complete these then it results in consequences that could affect my future. I also have smaller deadlines that affect daily life. Deadlines such as rent payment for accommodation, deadlines regarding my freelance work which affect my income if the deadlines are not met.
My two coursework deadlines are both due in on the 30th April. Once completed I will have finished my first year of university until the next deadlines come about and cause destruction for me.

London
Visiting London is always one of my favourite things to do. I went for a day to visit my Dad and to go venture around the city. London is one place where you can always find inspiration anywhere you look. Whether it be in the underground through the iconic typography or in the designer stores where materials and fashion play to your creative flare.
There is so much you can find to inspire yourself in London, I would love to one day create something that inspire others that they would see by just walking around a city, like the Piccadilly Lights for example.

Word of the Week: Studio
The word “Studio” for me represents my studio at university. It’s a place which is supposed to be “a room or place for instruction or experimentation.” Does our studio fulfil our needs though? Does it creatively influence us and inspire us? Not really.
White walls and basic tables and chairs, the studio is a blank canvas in which we sit in heads drowned into our screens as we try and inspire ourselves. If only the studio was a place full of life and colour where we could look around and search for ideas and new beginnings. A place where we could stay overnight with peers and discuss ideals and new creations.
I have curated a selection of images of studios which appeal to me and would take inspiration from if I were to redesign the studio.

Beauty of Coventry
In a city that many find dull, I searched around to see new discoveries. I found this small park nearby where I decided to have a stroll through with a couple of friends. I decided to take some photos and it really made me open my eyes to how beautiful nature can be.

Word of the Week: PDP
The word PDP stands for Personal Development Planning. PDP is all about planning your future. You need to first look at what your doing right now. What is going right and what is going wrong. By picking things apart you can then devise a plan on improvement and development. Making small milestones and working towards your goal step by step is how you can make an improvement and get further in life.
Currently I could look at things that I need to work on. I need to work on taking up opportunities when they are given otherwise I will miss out. These could be design opportunities which I think could either be too small or not worth my time. By pushing and building up small accomplishments it will all lead up to my end goal. Another development can also be to not push myself. Pushing myself leads to the something I cannot handle and in the end means I cannot function and complete the many minor tasks. It’s all about learning how to juggle everything you do without losing consistency in the work.

Word of the Week: Future
The word “Future” for me currently represents what I look forward to ahead in my life. It includes the opportunities that await ahead.
The Future could be tomorrow or it could be the next 10 years but whenever it is you should take into account what you plan to do. If it’s career wise then for me I would be looking at opportunities I could take up to kickstart my career of Graphic Design. Something I already do is working for a charity as their in-house designer but it doesn’t mean I have to stick with that forever. By exploring opportunities you will gain a better understanding what you want from the future.
One thing I’ve learned is that when things don’t go to plan you just have to stick with it and go with the flow and it will all work out.
