Malicious compliance plan:

- No more than 6. That means I meet metrics, and if I meet metrics in 20-30 minutes, the rest of that hour is mine.

I have severe chronic depression and severe ADHD. I’m recovering from a total hysterectomy. I have hypersensitivity to aural stimuli. It’s all managed by licensed professionals, and I am a top performer. But I have my limitations and this is one of them.

They’re not getting more out of me than is strictly needed to keep this job.

If they want “above and beyond,” they can pay me what I already deserve and then we can talk.

New Survey Asks Players About Free Updates to The Sims 4

The Sims team just shared a new survey on their official Discord channel asking players about future free game updates to The Sims 4.

The questionaire is available in five different languages.

I'm sorry I just haven't posted anything in a while, really.

Quick update, work-related of course. It has a happy-ish ending, but warning for su*c*dal ideation, self-harm compulsion, etc. (As a note: I am fine, unhurt, etc!)

After days on the phones, after not being on them for about 2 weeks, I began to feel the compulsion to self-harm--for those who don't know, it's often a compulsion to self-soothe that can manifest in folks who turn inward when trying to cope with depression, anxiety, overstimulation, trauma, etc.

I'm too tired to go over the particulars, but essentially, I have requested an official accommodation (as required by US law thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act). I could rant about the bullshit nature of conformity and that, if a person can do every single other aspect of a job, and more besides, aside from one task, then why is that a problem?! Being on the phones is only a fraction of this job, and although I can mask and do well at answering them--better than some of my coworkers, after sitting in on some calls in the past--it is highly unsustainable.

Talking to my supervisor yesterday morning was... terrifying, to say the least.

... Anyway. I'll be alright. I pretty much thrive doing the emails and inquiries part, interacting with coworkers, I've even volunteered to help people via Microsoft Teams, and of course, I've made plenty of outbound calls as needed. It's the part where I'm chained to the phone and unable to focus on any other task, constantly interrupted by stressful social micro-crises. Just... fucking kill me, please.

Luckily, my new supervisor didn't belittle me like every other boss I've ever had, and I've got a meeting with her and HR this afternoon.

This whole thing has left me without much energy to do any real creation or gameplay, though.

Good news: I am off the phones for the rest of the week, starting yesterday. I'm already feeling better and I even cleared over 50 cases yesterday, and I ENJOYED doing so.

I'll never understand the assumption that everyone can/should be able to do the same type of work, the same exact way. Humans aren't wired like that. I'm sure doing the repetitive tasks of closing inquiry cases, doing research, and mentoring others, would have some folks feeling the way I feel answering back to back calls. Everyone has their vocation, and it's not a moral failing if some folks can't excel at every single task they're ever told to do.
