Stoned ponderings of the StonerAge Sage Have you ever stopped to consider that at the moment of birth you possess a level of pure understanding that we seem to find difficult to grasp as adults. Life begins presenting us challenges from the moment we fill our lungs with air,, that first moment of separation triggers the beginning of our journey & our awareness of the first of many hurdles life will present for us to overcome. Communication of our needs and emotions becomes the primary ability we are required to develop. Using only the undeveloped vocal chords and the limited muscular control at our disposal we quickly develop this skill, our reward is the power to summon food, clean clothes & the warm secure embrace of a parent. The ability to Communicate effectively will consistently offer us the best outcome solutions to situations throughout our lives & yet a simple lack of communication will cause the majority of the problems we find ourselves facing. I took the time to consider, you could even say I have pondered upon it & I came to the following conclusion, Perhaps the fact we are born already knowing communication is the key to not just survival but also comfort, warmth & safety in life is an indication we should be more focused on discussion than destruction. There has been quite a lot of focus as of late on research showing cannabis use being linked to increased risk of developing schizophrenia, this will come as a surprise to many with numerous peer reviewed research & studies showing that no such links exist such as those conducted by Harvard Medical Research which has ruled out any causal links between cannabis use & schizophrenia.
Well you know what I'm like when something gets my attention, I went looking for the source of this research that is providing politicians and the Media ammunition for the propaganda machine's,, the research was conducted from the Copenhagen University Hospital which is a reputatable enough institution however it was actually conducted by freelance researchers & not the institution conducting or supervising the research.
So who are these freelance researchers breaking new ground in mental health research, I initially imagine the usual grey haired combination of Albert Einstein & Sigmund Freud types but Dr Stine Mai Nielsen is quite the opposite, rather attractive blond in her mid thirties with over 34 publications to her name already.. quite an impressive output for one so young.
When you look deeper you find she isn't so much a freelance researcher as she is a professional research producer for her main employer and source of funding for the studies required,, Drum Roll please ,,,,,,,, Anybody ever hear of the Koch-Institute, to save you the Google search they are the worlds foremost cancer research organisation which has a vested interest in a negative public opinion of Cannabis.. the research hasnt been validated by peer review and was only officially presented at a pharmaceutical company sponsored organisation meeting.. the most interesting thing about the research is it's lacking in a definitive statement connecting cannabis use to the onset of the condition, while these researchers exist to manufacture studies reinforcing a point of view they are careful not to destroy their credibility and reputation, by using suggestive terms and offering statistical models they direct your impression of the research rather than focus on the actual conclusions of the research.
For example they examine millions of health records and using a variety of statistical models define abuse of any substance a definitive factor and gives each a percentile of ridk or harm, in theory it sounds convincing until you examine the facts and realize the improbability of there being any accuracy in the outcomes.. I've selected two excepts from the research, the first is the increased risk percentile breakdown which from casual observation seems arbitrary and the second except is from the conclusions where the researchers admit there is still no definitive evidence of a causal link between cannabis use and schizophrenia.. so on reality the research doesn't even back up what they are trying to back up...

Something to think about
Just to highlight a couple of points in regards to the Greens suggestion to establish a designated government department as a central control for the growing and distribution of cannabis in Australia.
Rather than it being some kind of communist ideal as is being often suggested by those who seek to label rather than understand, the concept was developed with the international treaty guidelines & obligations in mind.
While total prohibition of cannabis is the primary recommended option for all treaty signatories with Cannabis being added to the newly created schedule 4 which limits even the scientific study of cannabis for medical research etc, in the event study is to be undertaken on cannabis there is a control system with which they specify every detail in regards to the acceptable processes for production and the supply control of cannabis for research purposes which involves the establishment of a centralized government department to control the supply and production as has been suggested in the greens policy.
My opinion to be honest is that none of the existing parties offering a cannabis policy have any hope of implementing a cannabis policy or any policy to be honest because they will never have the numbers required to pass legislation..
Unless one of the major parties adopt a pro cannabis attitude we will not see change initiated by any Australian govt in the immediate future unless we have a government that doesn't include the major  party's..
They will, as they always do & only alter their position when left with no choice but to make a choice, this choice will be the one that best suits their own agenda of maintaining power and control through regulations.
So if we want real change we need people, lots of people to be motivated enough to hit the streets, shopping centres, libraries even book clubs &  participate in social interaction, we need to get out there & engage in discussion with those we meet regarding cannabis, casually bring it into the conversation with the overall goal to make people aware about the real harmful impacts of prohibition,
We need the non-cannabis aware people's empathy to be directed toward all those being harmed by this brutal and destructive manner of controlling cannabis.
Only when the public gather to highlight the harm and direct blame toward those in the position to act for not doin so, to be precise that would be those in power at present, at which point we will observe how the desire to avoid blame can be just the sort of catalyst that motivates governments to make change.
While the timing of these policies and announcement of recreational cannabis use  support the vote grab is almost embarrassingly obvious, however that doesn't mean we can't leverage this mainstream attention into achieving our own vote gathering of sorts.
Rather than just getting into a pointless debate about the nature of the various party's involved, which lets be honest is only going to send us chasing our tail in circles, now keeping in mind we are talking about politicians & that's just how they like us, no direction and confused.
So take the time to ask yourself, why should we give them what they want.
Why don't we just take the opportunity they present by talking about cannabis in the mainstream media, perhaps start by contacting the relevant candidate in your area & asking for assistance with a donation or sponsorship for  hall rental costs,  offer to host info sessions on cannabis related topics such as medical or tax income etc, we can be hosting these events all over the country sponsored by the various political party election budgets.
Each party will have areas they believe they will have better chances of success thsn others so get involved with the local candidate for the Canna friendly party and offer to organise info nights they can come talk to the audience about their policies,
If you offer them the opportunity to promote their policies during an election campaign they will be more than happy to organise venues lol,,
We can use these election campaign advertising budgets as a cannabis law Reform campaign budget if we cooperate across the country to raise the real Cannabis Prohibition issues such as the real time harms that continue to inflict great damage to our communities while the debate goes on..
We need people not to be talking about 1 child suffering because they can't access cannabis, we Need them talking about the 5000 new epilepsy suffers diagnosed every year in Australia or the number of epilepsy sufferers who die every single day in Australia that didn't have to die.
Get involved with the political party's that are talking about rights to home grow and offer assistance in exchange for support to rent venues that the general public can attend to learn about cannabis law reform, the harms of prohibition or medical uses etc.. lets turn the tables and use them to get the support behind our campaign to end prohibition rather than generating support for the party policies or even the candidate..
In short, "Let's Play Politics"

Flagstaff Gardens 420 Picnic
My take on the September 420.
Sitting on the hill overlooking a sea of happy souls, there is a sense of calm rarely found in those whose only "crime" is to enjoy the blessing.
Once again, the work and preparation put in by Matt Riley, pays dividends in the very low key police presence and a very well behaved crowd.
The scent of the wide variety of dank buds floats in the air, mixed with the joyful laughter of people comfortable amongst their own kind.
Many who never met before today, will leave with new friends for life.
Whilst there is a state of relaxation prevalent in this environment of freedom, you can sense the undercurrent of awareness, that today will come to a close and to light up in this same park tomorrow, comes with the risk of arrest.
You have to ask yourself why?
Why is such a harmless pastime treated as such a public danger?
Why are those who choose this harmless pastime, outcast from a society that they have no intention to harm?
The clock strikes 4:20 and a resounding roar rises through the park.
Its more like a civilized hoorah, than the usual Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, chant one would ordinarily expect from a gathering of almost 2000 people, predominantly in or under their 30's at any event these days.
To be in such a large crowd and not be tripping over empty cans or broken bottles, after nearly 4 hours of greeting old friends and making new ones, and not having to avoid any drunken fights or abusive screaming is a welcome respite to the usual Australian event in a park.
I think the Cannabis Community once again owes a huge thank you to Matt Riley for putting in the hours and effort with his team of hard working volunteers, to provide another successful 420 Picnic in the Park.
A big thanks also to those that came along and once again showed the general public that lifting Prohibition will just release good people like yourselves from the ever present risk of arrest.
.
love you all always Jason

Who the f#@k is this Ancient Jay
Hi,
I'm Ancient Jay & I smoke Cannabis..
In fact I have smoked cannabis for 36 years...
You may believe that Cannabis is Harmful or even dangerous, but the truth is far different,,
Science has time & again proven that Cannabis is neither Harmful nor Addictive & has many beneficial uses from medical treatment to an environmentally friendly biomass production which can be used to create anything from fuel to textiles and biodegradable plastics...
To put it simply Cannabis is not Harmful and not a single person in our entire history of has ever died or suffered serious harm from using it.
Cannabis prohibition on the other hand has killed millions & causes millions more to suffer daily..
End the Harm
End Prohibition Today
You don't have to support cannabis use to support the end of suffering...

Check out @Real_AncientJay’s Tweet: The government keeps telling the public they want to assist patients and work on changing the laws regarding cannabis & they are focused on harm reduction yet they fund the creation of bias research & studies generating manipulated statistics to be used in reports and projection models. Every report both domestic and international agree without doubt that Prohibition is vastly more harmful than Cannabis which has resulted in their continuation of prohibition.. All this effort to justify continuing the harm being inflicted upon the public through Cannabis prohibition. Look at the facts and honestly tell me that you believe that their using cannabis is a good enough reason to treat anyone like a criminal.. You don’t have to use cannabis, you don’t even have to like cannabis but is such a big thing to accept someone else’s right to do so. Prohibition is responsible for the Suffering and Deaths of millions, don’t you think it’s time it stopped..

How to make the most of your vote
I keep coming back to this post and tweaking it after receiving feedback and I added an idea that came to mind after going through people thoughts on my original post so I guess its third time lucky for final draft.
I see a lot of talk about how to approach voting in the upcoming election
I just want you all to remember its important to use your vote as effectively as possible in order to send the definitive message that we have had enough of the major party machine grinding us down,
Now for some people I have noticed the idea of registering your discontent via an informal vote seems like the easiest way to send a message or just not bothering to vote at all. You really gotta love how most human beings living in our modern world are like, "we are quite happy to help with "stuff" but only if its easy or convenient” kind of like yeah they will give you a lift somewhere but only if its on the way to where they are already going.
However the moment that real effort is required it becomes just a little too hard, it's quite saddening that so many are happy to not vote or just waste it however actually taking the time to fill out the ballot and contributing to limiting either of the major party brands  from gaining unchecked control of both houses.
We need our senate at the very least to be filled with independents with Australia's  best interests at heart and stop the liberal/labor corporation from  any further selling off of our country,
It's too late to get the kind overall approach it would require to create a coalition of independents capable of being represented in every electorate not the creation of a core set of policy goals that each could agree upon.
The very best we can hope for is a parliament where no party has dominance, there will be claims that such a situation doesn't allow for things to be achieved which isn't such a bad thing when all they want to achieve is asset strip our country.
If you really want to use your vote constructively why not direct your vote and preference away from the major party's & toward alternatives because at least then it will count and who knows you may actually help things change, it is possible to retake control of our government and fill it with honest & capable people. Independant representatives of the electorate with a focus on the people.
However it requires participation, it requires all of us to stand up and not just allow the situation to continue, each of us must put in the effort and no longer just accept that's the way it is.
People from your community need to be found who are willing to put in the time and not a politician type of person I'm talking about people with the kind of skills that will be required by any new management team coming into an organisation that has been as mismanaged and corruption filled as our Government is and has been for decades.
We need organisers to find and convince the best people in their fields around our country and ask for their assistance getting the country back in shape.
The establishment of a very wide ranging royal commission into past government dealings from garbage contracts to international treaties and agreements, the terms of reference will be basic “find wrongdoing, expose wrongdoing, punish the wrongdoers.
All agreements made by the previous governments will be put to a best interests test and any found to not be in the best interests of Australia and the Australian public will be cancelled such as the TPP as anything that has to be hidden from the people is obviously & most defiantly not in the people's best interest.
Now firstly a reality check for those I previously mentioned who wish to make a statement of some sort by not voting or just wasting their vote believing or perhaps hoping to effect change by not participating in this current opportunity to affect change.
(Sarcasm alert)
Obviously this will work because as soon as the vote's are counted & the opportunity to affect change has passed all the other people will be able to see that you & many others didn't participate in the opportunity to effect change & that everyone will somehow be motivated to do something about it.
What do you really think this will achieve?
Think about it even if there is a high number of informal votes the media will explain it away by voter confusion or the layout of the ballot paper because they certainly wont report that the people have voiced their anger and dissatisfaction with the major party's by crossing out all the candidates.
Its important that you fill in the ballot correctly to stop your vote going to the major party through preference deals done with the minor and independents to whom you direct your primary vote.
The candidate can't allocate your vote as preference if you already did so on the ballot, I believe a simple method of directing your vote effectively is if you number the minors and independents 1-12 and then continue the sequence nominating the rest leaving the the major party representatives last they cant legally use the preference as only the first twelve choices can be used for preference allocation.
This is why you must vote below the line not above as voting above the line  allows the candidate to direct your preference, take with you & use a black pen such as a fine sharpie & not the pencil which can be erased and altered, using a black pen does not invalidate the ballot nor will using the numbering method it does however give you confidence that no major party can nor will get your vote.
Then when the votes are counted & show such a limited percentage of the primary votes and so few preferences going to the major party candidates well  I believe that's something that cant be ignored nor spun into voter confusion at the Ballot box.
I think the creation of one of those free websites where people can go and indicate how they voted or how they intend to vote as the idea of a secret ballot is a joke that just provides the opportunity for manipulation of the ballots.
An open and transparent process of voting should be instituted as nobody hides how they vote any more so why do we continue to hide the counting of the votes ?.
As I mentioned at the start I got an idea from the general nature of the feedback relating to how to know if you were filling in the Ballot the best way possible in your local area so I thought if people were to come to a page or a group after getting in touch with their local electoral office and posting the list of candidates that have registered for that region, this will allow those who have the time to assist in designing and posting how to vote cards for as many electorates as possible and ensuring that those who are fed up with the way things are going and want to see the whole system get a restart know exactly how to do it.
Well that's the general idea anyway.
So this election could be seen as the practice run getting as many independent candidates into the senate and house of reps to stall the major party duopoly from destroying our country while we build our country's future representative party .
It's never to late to make change happen however it can never be soon enough.
