i’ve made pinterest boards for my harry potter ocs (also for my mcu ones but i haven’t done much with those) and their aesthetics keep evolving cause i daydream scenarios for them all the time so their main clothing aesthetics or personalities are always changing a little bit and i have to mess with them. this is mostly to say that editing or messing with pinterest board aesthetics at 1:30am can really get you tired (and a neck cramp)

this is a string of dialogue from my HP oc wip that i have tentatively titled “scattered ‘cross my family line”

(thought the song fit the fucked up nature and habits of the Black family that i wanted to touch on a little bit but the title will probably change since i want this to be more of a silly, lighthearted story with some emotional moments instead of a full on angst fest (which i do enjoy writing though just not for this story))

the main plot of the fic is really Carrie,(oc) Draco’s cousin, trying to get Draco to relax and enjoy life after the war. Draco is holding the weight of recovering his family’s reputation on his shoulders and hasn’t had a moment of silence from the stress of it since May (the fic will take place during August, right before the start of “eighth year”) so he’s bound to snap and once he does, Carrie immediately starts suggesting things to help him chill out, so this is part of that conversation.

“yeah! it worked wonders for me and Nathan-“

“no, i mean i’m not gonna do that”

“why not?”

“because i have way too much on my plate! i have obligations to fulfill, to get my family’s name out of the bloody gutter and to make sure we’ll be able to live for ourselves. it’s my responsibility to-“

“ is it really?”

“…what?”

“is it really your responsibility to get your family’s name out of the gutter? why is that burden just on your shoulders?”

“well-“

“i mean yeah you were technically on the side of darth vader instead of luke skywalker when it comes to the war and shit but you’re a kid! you’re barely 18, you shouldn’t have been in the middle of a fucking war because your dad had a boner for the no-nosed no-maj hating jackass. i’m not saying you weren’t an asshole and probably did some shit stuff but you regret it right? you want to be better than you were right?”

“yeah?”

“then that’s all that matters, if people won’t accept you after you try and make things better then it’s their problem. and again, you shouldn’t be righting the wrongs that at the end of the day, weren’t completely your fault. you should be out enjoying your life and freedom, not stressing yourself to the bone trying to mend both yours and your parents misdeeds. ok?”

so in fanfiction, one of the best things to me is seeing relationships (both platonic and romantic) that never happened in the original material. i think it’s very fun coming up with those characters dynamics and banter and just imagining how they would talk with each other. the argument that since the characters never met in canon, it’s unrealistic for them to have a relationship in a fic is one i don’t really get. why would you want to limit yourself like that writing wise? personally for me, coming up with character dynamics and interactions is my favorite part of writing, so i don’t really understand why you wouldn’t want to explore those unknown relationships. (that’s just my opinion though, i mean no disrespect.)

ok i started rambling there for a minute but the point of this was to talk about one of my favorites of these kind of relationships, which is Draco Malfoy and Luna Lovegood.

Draco and Luna’s friendship, in any fic that i’ve read with them, is always fantastic, whether or not i actually liked the story, their friendship is always the best part. the way they interact and somehow just understand each other is so weirdly sweet and heartwarming, their personalities are incredibly different but, and i know this sounds cheesy, they kind of bring out the best of each other and i think that’s what makes them work.

Draco is a character that’s gone through a lot of shit and has a lot of repressed pain and anguish that he hasn’t dealt with properly, pain that he hides behind snarky attitude and Luna is a comforting and calm presence that he can open up to about his trauma. and Luna, to a lot of people, is a nut, people don’t take her seriously, she talks about creatures supposedly only she can see, she wears outlandish clothes, she’s a very eccentric person so people tend to write her off as just the crazy girl. but Draco listens to her, he knows Luna is smarter then people think she is (she’s in fucking Ravenclaw for a reason people). he doesn’t just shove away all of her ideas and claims, he actually listens and considers what she’s saying, and even if he doesn’t always believe it, he respects her for her opinion.

also i wasn’t aware of this until recently and i’m still not completely sure if it’s real, but i’m pretty sure Draco and Luna are canonically cousins. Xenophilius Lovegood is Lucius Malfoy’s brother, and he was disowned from the family for marrying Luna’s mother, Pandora Lovegood, who came from a family of “blood traitors” and wasn’t the idle wife for a Malfoy son, but he married her anyways and changed his name to Lovegood to get away from his bio family. again i don’t know if it’s actually canon but it makes the most sense of any theory i’ve heard about the Lovegood’s.

but yeah, if they are canonically cousins, don’t you think they’d have had more of a relationship? Luna and Draco’s friendship dynamic could have been so interesting, and it’s something i really want to explore more in writing (you know, when i actually start writing and not just saying i’m going to).

anywho, hope you enjoyed my whatever this was, this has been sitting in my drafts for awhile and i wanted to get it out and i appreciate you all who had it all the way through <3 i have more of these kind of relationships but Draco and Luna were the ones i had the most to say about.

well this is my intro post, that i’m writing at three am, this is gonna be great.

hi! i’m andi. im 18 a major insomniac, and someone who has a severe addiction to caffeine, sad songs, and fanfiction about gay people.

i tried to write a fanfiction story back in 2020 or something and i didn’t plan it at all and it’s now sitting unfinished on ao3 (“cough” Invisible Avengers “cough”) it’s really not my best but i’m still proud of it for my first fortay into writing.

my other blog @andi-is-bored is my reblog account where i also post some more interesting things that i’ll reblog here so it’s a bit more organized, i’ll also be posting/rebloging about fanfics i enjoy, fandom opinions and thoughts, and talking about my own fanfics, which are not public at the moment on the account that they are not written yet. they currently (in a few sentences or less) include,

1: a Harry Potter oc fic where the oc (Carrie Walsh) is Draco’s distant cousin. she comes to britain the summer after the war and helps Draco’s find his place in this new world, while also dealing with her own issues, having fun with her friends, and getting into a romance with a Weasley twin.

2: a MCU Spiderman fic (also with ocs) where Peter is just going through the motions with superhero life when a new hero comes to queens after a group of villains called the Ravagers starts causing chaos, and also he’s having to deal with Justin Lewis, the annoying/irritatingly attractive mechanics expert from school who’s favorite activity is pushing Peters buttons.

they are still in early development in my brain and i’ll be making multiple post about both of them to get thoughts and ideas out there to hopefully make something of them soon enough.

there’s a lot id like to do here and i hope you stick around for it, and if you don’t, that’s cool, i get it.
