Still Fishin’
NEWS: Today my school district announced that 100% of learning will be ONLINE (at least for the first 2 quarters). Later we will move to a HYBRID Model of online/in-person instruction 2/3 days per week.
GOALS:
- Continue with National Geographic Educator Certification
-Start process: National Board Certification for Educators
- Apply to Graduate School (Educational Leadership Cohort)
- Rearrange dining room into Teacher Office/ Learning Annex for kids
- Get Learner’s Permit
THOUGHT: Literally, with the exception of going shopping for essentials and working the PT Gig (Essential Worker), I’ve been in the house. The kids have not left the nest (only to play basketball or swim in backyard). I was worried about them, but the kids are alright. As long as they have devices and snacks, they’re good.
See y'all in 2022

Equality & a little Revenge
Im on the side of justice. So if the only solution is to riot and loot, then so be it. This nation has benefitted ENOUGH off the collective bodies of Black folks and its now time to pay up. Your ancestors created this system that you benefit from off the collective bodies of my ancestors, yet you feel compelled to ask us to find another way. We tried that- and my grandparents were hosed, attack by dogs, beaten, raped, lynched and murdered. Your people didnt and don't believe that my people deserved equality- an equal opportunity. Oh yeah we tried that- building our own- and your greedy racist grandparents rioted and looted our communities leaving death, destruction and fear in its wake. You didnt do anything then- just gave us scraps to distract us and separate up. Some was able to thrive, many didn’t. That’s why we are here today- until you do right by us, we will continue to fight and push against your wack ass racist ass systems of oppression. I am my ancestor- I am continuing in the spirit of resistance and defiance- I’m fighting against your oppressive and racist systems and institutions. So if I must riot and loot, so be it. I bet that shit’s got your attention- your money and your way of life is now being threatened. You should be scared- but not my people- but by your complacencies.

current mood
I thought to keep a journal- a record of sorts about this pandemic, a living historical document. I don't want to. I don't want to be reminded of our selfishness and individualism at such a trying time. I’m tired of people being people.

the “now” normal
- masks and other protective gear at work
- now working the overnight shift (to avoid interactions with guests)
- not currently teaching Distant Learning courses
- pandemic shopping is the worst! $400 spent on some BS
- allowing the kids to self pace and supporting them through this crisis
- thankful that the rent and utilities won't be turned off
- netflix, hulu, prime, apple tv, but mostly netflix (in that order)
- board games (Trolls Monopoly anyone?)

Currently....
1. Setting up my Google Classroom for Scholars
2. Setting up Zoom and Google Meet schedules for scholars
3. Finding supplemental resources for my tutoring student
4. Listening to the 3 y.o play the same chopped and screwed version of Baby Shark in the background.
5. Ordering cute AF summer dresses on-line (even though I have nowhere to go)
6. Ordering 3 chromebooks for my own tribe (3 school age kids) to complete online classes.
7. Overly assessing my symptoms (allergy versus Covid19) every time I cough or sniffle.
8. Silently arguing the pros vs. cons of switching to an overnight shift to avoid customers at work ( your 2nd favorite retail store)
9. Raiding the refrigerator for snacks but the tribe already ate them.
10. Knowing I need to go to bed, but cant due to the anxiety.
Ya’ll Im tired.

I’m new here.
I was always waiting for the right time to write, to create something. Shit, I have time now. I’m Belle- a mother, an educator and guest associate at your 2nd favorite retail store. I like books, 80′s R&B, 90s hiphop, and cultural events. When I’m not raising my tribe (ages 3-20), I hide in the basement and write micro/flash fiction and binge watch Korean soaps on Netflix.
Welcome, welcome.
