Business Plan
Originally, I knew this course was going to be rigorous as a whole. Trying to configure a well-developed business plan while trying to get a good grade can be very intense. I’ve been a creative my entire life and trying to create a business was completely out of my element. Having this opportunity to tweak and perfect our business plan during this time is priceless. I’m grateful that our professor has be very knowledgeable and gracious towards us during this class while we try to figure out what is the best method of creating a business.
In my opinion, my goals were exceeded in this class. This class has encouraged me to be confident and courageous in my plan. I realized that my expenses don’t quite add up and I’m thinking through some realistic options on how to fund my business. The course has also made me aware of delaying my opening date for my business might be the best thing. Also, collaborating with other bigger investors or other local businesses.
During this course I learned how to properly put together a business plan that is effective. I’ve realized that you shouldn’t rush to get your product or services out to the public. You can create any kind of rhythm that works for you and your life. Just remember the end goal for your company. I had a great experience in this class, and I learned so much from my professor. He has a wealth of knowledge and an overall wizard on anything dealing with business plans. I also learned that there is no perfect time to start a business or go after a dream. You just go and do it. Make sure your professionalism stands out among the competition. Always put your best foot forward by showing your strengths along with your humility in every situation. Lastly, focus on your strengths and allow others to help your where you are weak. These tips have been useful in carrying me through this course.

Mastery Journal Publishing
By far out of my entire Fullsail experience. I believe the publishing class has been the most informative and exciting. I might be a little biased because I would like to pursue an opportunity into this particular field. However, Ms. Craft has done an excellent job of presenting publishing in a tangible concept where anyone can grasp the concepts. There are somethings I knew in general especially from Performance Rights Organization since I’ve had the opportunity to intern (years ago). However, this class taught me about the technical details about publishing world. This has helped me propel forward into pursuing an independent publishing company. However, I’d rather work for a major publishing company to see how everything works on that end. The entertainment industry always has exciting things happened all of the time. It’s important that we keep and provide good artists time and availability to create. These new creations are what people look forward to when turning on the radio, finding new interviews on YouTube, new songs on Spotify or iTunes, and ect. Making sure the royalties are calculated properly and sent to the correct place. Publishers have very important work within the entertainment industry and that I why most people take this job very seriously and most artists desire to have a good relationship with their publishing company. This class was everything. I wish we could extend it a little longer. I feel like there is still so much more to learn about this area of entertainment. My goal is to look more into the publishing side of entertainment as a whole. I’ve realized throughout my time here at Fullsail that you must take ownership of the topics or new things you want to learn. That is the only way that you will value it, cherish it, and make the changes needed to become an expert in that field. Thank you for such a great class and a great month of learning.

AEL Mastery Journal
This AEL course has been enlightening and informative. It has launched me into moving forward with my business. There was a lot of jargon that I wan not familiar with. However, the videos and the textbook was very helpful in providing the meaning of those unfamiliar terms.
It has given me important information on how to be profitable within the parameters of the law. Learning about copyright infringement, Trademark, Patent, and trading secrets has opened my mind up to many more possibilities.
In the class, my goal was to learn how to effectively create my business and obtain my LLC. I t has helped me to understand the difference between Limited Liability Company (LLC), S-Corporation, and C-corporation. These are very important to distinguish the difference between these specific businesses. Also, I’ve learned how to hire employees that are specific to the company. In the midst of that you can use interns and contractors to get the job done if you cannot afford to employ people. Reading through a contract was the most memorable assignment for me in this classroom. This assignment was close to home for me because it properly showed my what to look for when servicing my clients. Making sure they do not put themselves in terrible contracts that could potentially ruin their life. This class had many highlights that effectively look at entertainment as a business. This class is very important to become successful in the Entertainment business. This class is useful and allows you to expand your perspective and look at what is on the other side of the Entertainment business. I encourage ever business professional to become fluent on their parameters with the law and how to apply these laws to your business. Knowing this information will take your career to the next level and become a master in your field.

Artist Management
This class has been nothing but great information on how I should conduct business with an artist. The class explained information that would have taken years to unpack. From understanding what kind of artist, I want to represent and the genre I want to represent. Once you have decided that hurdle you want to make realistic goals for yourself way before you meet with another artist. Sometimes managers get enthralled with helping their clients to the point where they forget or put aside their own personal goals. Being an artist manager requires you to wear multiple hats at a time. You have to know exactly what you bring to the table in every situation and your own abilities. Being an artist manager, you have to know how to market your artist and what platform will be right for them. Booking, creating an artist promotion kit, and shopping venues are very important to the longevity of your artist career. Being a successful manager means sacrificing your time, talent, and skills to an artist or many artists. Lending your skills to manage an unknown artist and help them become #1 in the charts (music, comedy, and books). This shows true sacrifice and great skill on the management side to where clients are coming and asking you to manage them. I equate being an artist manager to have a business plan and activate all the roles for each component. This class has taught me on how to infuse merchandise within concerts or small performances. Also, analyzing data the demographic is necessary for product sales for each city. Overall, Artist management is TON of work initially but on the back end it’s well worth the effort and time. Knowing your craft is essential in this setting and there are so many pitfalls that could happen. Staying on top of your game in every situation is needed. I plan to use all of the tools and skills from this class into my current artists. They are in need of a management plan that will help with selling merchandise.I look forward to implementing these plans and growing their brand.

Digital Marketing
Originally, I came into this class believing I was just going to learn about how to market my business on social media. Also, understanding how to market my brand to the innerwebs is very important in today’s market. I didn’t expect to get a lot of practical information that would surpass not only my business, but life in general. This class has been an excellent experience teaching me all of the important parts of digital marketing. I’ve learned what is important for the customer to see during this time. It also gives good tips on how to utilize the search engines and the most effective way to utilize social media. Learning about the inner world of social media, traditional marketing, digital marketing, KPI’s, target audience, and analyzing data. This class has proven to be beneficial to my business endeavors and also my personal endeavors. I’ve been able to use these same methods in my business and my customers has responded positively overall. I’ve noticed that there are levels to marketing and making sure you have the basics are essential to the longevity of your business.
The way digital marketing has taken off in the past decade is unbelievable. The impact that it has on startup companies and existing companies has been beneficial. I have learned that you must put your best foot forward and come to terms that in the digital world there is always something you to learn. The digital world is constantly changing, and you must keep up with the upgrades or nuances of marketing. At the end of the day I am one step closer to achieving my goal into becoming a music professional. These are the nuts and bolts that will help me to become good at what I do. I’m looking forward to my next class and perfecting my craft. This was by far one of the best classes I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of. This class is needed for future entrepreneurs and business managers. This is the future!

Negotiation and Deal Making
Negotiation and Deal Making
Original goals for this class:
How to properly negotiate?
What is my responsibility when making a negotiation?
How to properly finalize negotiations?
Tactic: Make small negotiations with business partners within my circle.
This class has been a great refresher and enhancement to each aspect of my life. When I first started I though a good negotiation occurred when you get everything you want and leave the opposing side felling upset, lost, and destitute. The need to feel like you’ve won is how culture resolves a winner mentality. This class has truly helped change my perspective drastically and cause me to look within. Realizing that every negotiation is not the same and it doesn’t have to turn into a negative yelling match between the two parties.
A negotiation can be something as simple as having a heartfelt conversation between two parties. The overall goal if for both parties to get exactly what they want out of the deal without all of the negativity that comes with it. When both parties cannot come up with exact terms of agreement then make there is a BATNA (backup plan) in place. Accessing the BATNA or back up plan will cause the parties not to worry if an exact deal does not take place. Doing your research and having a realistic backup plan seems to be the goal in every situation. In this class I’ve learned that evidence is the most crucial part of negotiation and it’s also the determining factor in a successful negotiation. Research can help with statistics, how to come up with an adequate estimation, and estimate the amount of time needed. Also, I’ve learned to treat the opposing party just as I would like be treated. You don’t have to yell and be cruel to the other party just because this has been what is betrayed on television. Instead get to know them and find out what you both have in common. This will help the negotiation go well and both parties can have a positive, practical, and logical experience with negotiation. Mediation is probably my favorite form of negotiation. This displays a healthy way to get your problems resolved without going to court. The court fees, the actual trial, and other court issues can cause more problems down the line.
Overall as a professional in the entertainment business I’ve learned that negotiations are simple and very relaxed. Sometimes it’s a process we tend to overthink this process. Be sure to do your research, intentionally be kind and gracious to the opposite parties, and get the resolution you want. Keep positive on every aspect and keeps arguments/haggling at a minimum. The process will go over smoothly!!

Entertainment Business: Finance Course
This finance course has expanded my knowledge in various ways. It gave the underlying knowledge of what it takes to successfully run a business without going under. This is the ket to becoming financially literate within the business. There are so many intricate parts of the entertainment industry that includes this part. Financially in order to have good entertainment you must be able to pay your people efficiently and correctly. This is an entruprenuaa dream come true when you are able to finance everything and stay inside or under the budget. I have been fortunate to learn the basics of how to startup a business and to keep the running. In the first few months being in the negative with a new business is completely normal. Looking at financial statements time value of money, breaking even, capitol investments, and the market value were all topics that stood out to me in this course. I realized the importance of this class and how to keep finance at the forefront. A successful business cannot grow or become great if the tools are not in place to succeed. Finance is a very important tool in my toolbox for my future. I’m excited to use all of the strategies and tools I have learned in this classroom for my business. The formulas can be challenging and overbearing to learn all at once. As I got familiar with the pace of the class I understood how to properly use the formulas. Even the word problems we somewhat challenging but once I figured how to insert the proper formula for each one it became simple over time. Many people use these formulas for arenas, tours, shows, and the theaters. Finance is an amazing tool if you take the time to master and learn the formulas!

Branding
For the course, my goal was to be able develop a brand and successfully present it to my peers and superiors. This course exceeded my expectations and challenged me to think beyond four walls and out the box of mediocrity. At the beginning of the course I realize that the opportunities were endless when it came to building an authentic brand. This class has given me a new release to dream and create on a different level. In the beginning I felt that having the freedom to dream was almost a chore.
Being a creative you must find balance of taking time out to continue to build upon the dreams you already have. If not, you can find yourself in a stagnant place and frustrated. I’ve learned that you have to consider so many components when you're building your brand. You have to consider your why and start from there. When you know your why you can plug all of the other pieces together. I’ve learned tons of great material that I plan on using in the future. I’m excited to learning how to create my brand or any brand. I feel capable and confident that I will print myself in the best way possible.
I’ve learned throughout my time here at Fullsail that you have to keep practicing these new concepts and skills in order to be effective in the industry of your choice. My goal was to be able develop a brand and successfully present it to my peers and superiors. As I continue in the program I will be using these resources to plan for next brand. Keeping these skills current is essential to becoming successful in the entertainment industry. Overall, I’m learning to be open to consistently learning new content and creating new content. Also, take time to properly brand your material. It can become a daunting task to undertake but the results are rewarding.

Project Management
This class truly challenged me from beginning to end. I never had a dull moment with learning and taking in everything I could. The information was so rich and demanding at the same time. It’s definitely challenged me to create and think outside of the box. It created an environment that forced me to take my projects seriously and ignore all of the chaotic and confusing distractions that came along the way. There are many factors in creating a sustainable project that creates revenue and ultimate success. Whenever creating something for the first time you want to have a plan and adequately execute it. The process of planning can be tumultuous / but in the long run planning is the only way to get complexed tasks done. If a class doesn’t challenge you and make you think uncomfortably outside the box then you’re probably not learning or gaining anything lasting from the experience. You can’t expect to grow from being comfortable. Being able to manage a project from start to finish is a tool that can be used on the job, at home as well as anywhere else major planning is necessary to complete a goal or series of goals.
The principles learned from this experience can be beneficial not only for the rest of this program but potentially for the remainder of my working and non working life. Planning is a life attribute not just one you pick up and put on the shelf later and if you can master planning, the rest of your life becomes not only easier but exciting. I look forward to using these skills within my company. There are many aspects to being an effective leader. There are many things that occurs and you must know how to handle things as situations arise. Overall, this class has me excited about my future dreams, goals, and aspirations. Culture has greatly influence the youth of our generation. Many have dreams and goals about their future career but many do not possess a plan. This class has taught me that not having a plan means you don’t have a dream. When your serious about your dream or goal you put steps and plans in place to achieve those goals. It doesn’t matter how much time you took to plan as long as you execute those plans one day in the future. I have learned how to be an effective leader by having structure and putting necessary procedures in place.

Initially everyone wants to use the Maxwell model of Leadership it’s appealing and calm. The calmness allows us to be at peace with everyone. Maxwell is definitely helpful in a positive working atmosphere. Maxwell allows you to enhance the character traits you already have in motion. However, Greene criticism is essential for an environment that needs to be refined and reordered.
Greene’s methods give you a realistic approach of real world situations. I think both styles are needed and necessary to run an effective office or have a great team.
As a young entrepreneur, it is crucial to develop correct leadership skills. This will help you sustain your business and cultivate healthy relationships in every aspect. Leadership is not just in the workplace but also in the details of our everyday lives. From a personal aspect I want to lead from a Maxwell perspective. It gives me great joy when I’m able to further my team members by helping them reach their goals. Being an effective leader means motivating your team to become better at what they do. Even if that means your team member could work for someone else eventually. Remember the goal is personal development. It goes a long away and helps the person in general.
However, the Greene approach is very needed. When approaching people that want to take advantage of your power and use it to manipulate the situation. When working for a large company people always watch how you make decisions and hard situations. This gives them leverage on how to handle you.
Overall, the industry I want to work in the Greene leadership model is needed. Personality wise I am naturally prone to the Maxwell leadership model. However, the Entertainment business requires tough skin. You must understand the laws of power in order to see these things materialize. This comes with a mindset of being about business, focused, and available for your team. The most effective leaders put these laws and principles into practice. This is on a daily basis for different aspects of their life.

I am a student of life and the experiences it gives. You never know what life will give you and it’s important to stay prepared. Being a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, and a role model are all roles I have taken on over the years. I’m learning to become the best version on myself as I can possibly be. Pursuing my passions and dreams is the ultimate goal. However, the road to get there is very interesting. Follow me as I travel down the road to pursing my goals and dreams through mastery. Mastery is something we all are in pursuit of chasing. Being a master at what you do best and providing the means to achieve it. Within the next 12 months I plan to become a master in all thing Entertainment drive. Learning about how to create a revenue creating content using Entertainment. Also, learning about music publishing and distribution creating an avenue for independent artists to create and develop their material for a reasonable price. As as student, I have a responsibility to learn as much as I can. I don’t believe in setting for one thing. Instead I’ve learned to become multi-faceted in different ares. This will allow to become more marketable in my area of interest. My goal is also to become an independent contractor for Entertainment sectors. In becoming a contractor the possibilities are endless and you can experience Entertainment from both sides of the spectrum. The goal is to become viable source to produce factual and accurate information that will reach hundreds and thousands of people daily.
