unironically though i love how even the tiniest humans often have like, interests they’re personally passionate about, its just that those interests for very little babies are things like a particular shape or the color orange

fuck it. be creative even if you never really *make* anything. write out plot synopses of stories and then move on. design OCs you'll never use. make mood boards and concept art and don't do anything with them. life's too short to forget everything that inspired you and creation doesn't have to be "complete" to be worth the time you put into it.

doing leftism exclusively on the internet gives you brainworms. like yeah read theory, talk to people on social media, but at some point you have to go outside. please. the things you say and believe about politics have repercussions in the real world and you have to live in that world to understand what those repercussions could be. find out who’s doing mutual aid in your community. join the iww or food not bombs or a community garden or a street medic collective or a prison letter writing campaign or something helpful that forces you to talk with real human beings directly about and in the context of their actual lives

Reagan-era "stranger danger" panic has done so much harm to americans' sense of community. It cemented the idea that only the nuclear family could be trusted with the care of the child, deterred people from cooperative living with an extended community, and continues to place abuse victims in danger by perpetuating the misconception that most child abuse is done by strangers rather than someone they know. It is in our best interest to become more interdependent than we were raised to be.

that Brian Eno quote about how whatever you find most repulsive about a medium (film grain, record scratches/fuzz, CDs skipping) will be the first thing you try and emulate once that medium is obsolete because it's "the sign of a moment too powerful for the medium assigned to contain it".... man.......
