Hi! I kinda dropped out of the GO fandom a bit - still love the show but between-season waits are too stressful for me even under normal circumstances (I am so glad ng's crimes caught up to him but it did mean I needed more distance than I usually would (I feel kinda bad about it, but the chaos was freaking me out, I needed to condemn the guy, resolve my feelings about GO - always thought it was all Pratchett so now I just say the wrong person died instead of the wrong person got credit - and move on instead of lingering in the fandom drama) - and now I come back for a day just to check in and people are still freaking out? Anyway, super long prelude, guess I'm just asking if I missed anything. Not knowing anything is also stressful, but I can't make myself wade into the mess to find out, and since you seem to have stuck around this whole time and your posts always felt very safe to me when I was still active, I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to let me know if there's anything I should know about S3? Thanks <3 <3
Hi there! 💕 Welcome back. Sure, I'd be happy to catch you up on what we know so far about S3. And thank you for saying that you felt my posts are safe-- that means a lot. Grab a hot chocolate & I'll recap the fun stuff for you. 😇
I'll do general stuff first and then let you know when the casting/story spoilers are going to start, in case you only want some info and not others.
First things first: Amazon fired ng and he's not involved with S3. He also is not receiving profits from the Good Omens graphic novel or the stuff in the merch store that I'll mention again later on in the post. Amazon publicly paused production and came close to canceling all of it but S3 was apparently rescued by Rob Wilkins and the Pratchett estate fighting for it. It's been shortened-- instead of 6 episodes, it's now a 90 minute movie.
To our knowledge, it's called Good Omens: The Finale. It's all already been filmed and just finished up post-production not too long ago. As of today (8/21/25), we don't have a release date for it yet but a few Clues that I'll recap as we go make it seem very possible that it might air this holiday season.
The director of The Finale is Rachel Taladay, who worked with David Tennant on Doctor Who and seems an overall excellent choice. She has posted a couple of vague but positive posts, like the one shown here, and one that also references her NDA and how she can't talk about various projects on which she's recently worked until such time as she can but hopes to be able to do so soon.
David Arnold has returned as the composer so the music will continue to be amazing. 😊 The Crouch End Festival Chorus also returned to record more vocal chants for the soundtrack.
We also do know that they made a Behind the Scenes special for The Finale while filming it.
There is to be new merch related to The Finale and Good Omens in general, some of which was just previewed a few days ago. The merch in the Good Omens HQ store is financially independent of ng. The store has stated that he will not profit from the merch sold.
To date, there has been a fun, little teaser with no new footage, just some intriguing things to keep us puzzling. It's from the Peter Anderson Studio that does the opening titles animation and was released on Valentine's Day. This is basically all we have so far for anything officially promotional for The Finale. We don't yet have things like key art or a trailer. We have had more news in the past week or so than we have had in months, though, so you came back at a good time, as we are probably going to get more in the next few weeks.
We do have several teaser tweets from The South Downs National Park (I am not kidding lol). I broke down my favorite of them over here. They were the biggest source of teasers for a couple of months for awhile there. All of them point towards positive, happy endings, as we might expect since the place where The South Downs Cottage is located is now involved in helping to promote Good Omens 3. 😇
If you want to stay away from literally anything else related to the story, you should probably stop reading at this point & just DM or Ask me if there was general info that you wanted that I left out. If you want some returning cast news and what story spoilers we have so far, though? Read on.
We have a brand new cast member joining-- the really excellent Sean Pertwee, who is going to be playing a character named Brian Cameron. We don't know anything more about the character than that so far. I believe that this is the only new, named character that we know about at this point. It is known that, when they were filming, they were looking for people with skills to play a magician and a croupier when they were casting extras. We don't know how they fit into the story.
There are a handful of people that we know to be returning besides Michael Sheen and David Tennant. One is Derek Jacobi (The Metatron), whom we've seen some filming footage of, as I'll explain below. Another is Doon Mackichan (Michael), who was the first to give us any spoilers at all. According to her, Michael has a big role in The Finale and "goes rogue." This dovetails with speculation that Michael is the story's final antichrist and the one that it'll all come down to.
In addition to this, we know that Paul Chahidi is back as Sandalphon. We know nothing about his plot at this time, just that he's back. We also just learned that Anna Maryan is back as Justine.
Jon Hamm (Gabriel) indicated in an interview awhile back (post-ng horrors but pre-Finale filming) that he'd likely be back and, if memory serves me correctly, I believe that someone saw that Quelin Sepulveda (Muriel) posted on social media from the Edinburgh area while they were filming, likely indicating that we'll see Muriel again. Both of these characters seem pretty integral so not huge surprises there.
Some other spoilers indicate that it would be very likely for us to see Crystal Yu back as Ms. Cheng. Some rumored returns include Ned Dennehy as Hastur, and one that's particularly fun and just came about in the last few days-- Frances McDormand.
What makes the rumor of her return the most interesting is that it seems to come from a person being credited for The Finale as the on set dresser for Frances McDormand, suggesting that McDormand might appear on camera for the first time in Good Omens in The Finale.
Tumblr media
To date, I believe that the only person we know for sure who is not returning is Jack Whitehall (Newt/Adultery Pulsifer), but given that the stories of the characters he already played were pretty neatly wrapped up in S1, that isn't too surprising or disappointing.
Ok, so, what do we have for actual story spoilers? A few things.
The biggest thing by far is the single, very brief, filming footage spoiler, which shows Sheen, Tennant, and Derek Jacobi filming a scene. If you've been trying to wade through spoilers, you have probably come across a bit of this already-- this is the stuff about the teal bookshop and the intriguingly "off" costumes, particularly for Sheen's character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see from the filming video I linked above, it was shot from a distance and there's no audible dialogue but it's of Tennant's character entering a teal bookshop on a fictional Nannette Street-- which, in real life, is Till's Bookshop in Edinburgh. He talks to Sheen's character inside and exits with something in a bag, going around the corner. Jacobi's character is watching across the street, like in The Final 15 of S2. The other bit of filming footage is then Jacobi's character entering the shop to talk to Sheen's character. Some of us also think we can see Rich Keeble (Mr. Arnold) behind Sheen in the shop in the scene with Tennant.
We know from Till's Bookshop that they were the only on-location shoot for The Finale. The rest of it was filmed on a soundstage behind closed doors, which is why this is the extent of what we have from when they were filming. (I think they also shot on a side street in Edinburgh as well but there aren't any spoilers from that filming & we don't know what the scene was about.)
What makes these scenes so interesting is that not only does this whole alternative bookshop feel wonderfully weird but the costumes of these characters are very unexpected. Jacobi's character is wearing sneakers/trainers lol. Tennant's hair (Crowley's?) is a bit more orange and his clothes less form-fitting and with less of an edge. Sheen's character (Aziraphale?) is the biggest puzzle, though-- he looks almost completely different.
In a possibly related spoiler, Michael Sheen mentioned in an interview a few months ago that he is now the owner of Laurence Olivier's famous prosthetic nose from Richard III, which he said he wore in The Finale when his character "needed a disguise." We don't yet know why a disguise is necessary.
A couple of other miscellaneous but interesting spoilers:
The crew members were all given a Good Omens mug during The Finale and the back of one posted online had some spoilers. It mentioned a Scene 59 (when 90 minute films usually have somewhere around 60 or so scenes) and the quote: "We've come to a decision", as well as an apparent apple tree and hearts, all of which has led to different theories.
A photo was posted online of filming on the Whickber Street set (no actors visible) that shows the businesses in different locations. Specifically, it shows a version of the alley between the bookshop and The Dirty Donkey in which Goldstone's Magic Shop is gone and has been replaced by the Chengs' restaurant, which seems to have some bullet holes in the side of it.
This goes along with the filming footage that seems to possibly show a different version of Whickber Street. There are many different theories as to why. Mine is that references in the past in the story to George Bailey and Christmas, along with the mental health components of the story, are suggestive of Good Omens maybe about to do a version of Pottersville from It's A Wonderful Life-- a version of Whickber Street in which Aziraphale never existed. I think that The Finale is going to be something of a mashup of It's A Wonderful Life and Powell & Pressburger's A Matter of Life and Death/Stairway to Heaven but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Other things:
A website lists a catering company near the filming location as being hired to provide and stylize "food for the angels" in Good Omens S3.
In the background of the photo posted by the hair department about products used for Crowley's hair in The Finale, one of the wigs Tennant would be wearing for Crowley in The Finale was visible. The hair is long and wavy. This, plus some comments by Tennant, and a couple of other miscellaneous things, suggest that there will be flashbacks in The Finale. (I don't honestly see how there could not be, tbh.)
When talking about costumes for The Finale, David Tennant said that he liked Crowley's "Heaven" costume. It's not terribly clear if he's meaning that Crowley has a new one in The Finale or if it's the same one from S2 but it sounds like it might be a new one.
No one involved with Good Omens has still ever actually said "Supreme Archangel Aziraphale" when describing the plot of S3. They all continue to dance around what the plot of The Finale is.
More recently, Tennant gently told fans to "connect the dots" over the nature of Crowley & Aziraphale's relationship-- something that has been making people who have thought they've been together all along laugh for a few weeks now. In this same moment, he also stirred up speculation for a love scene in The Finale by saying that Crowley & Aziraphale "do [euphemistic] things together-- some of which we may never see." The implication being that some of which we may well see 😉 before the story is out.
This speculation was further amped up this past week by Rob Wilkins just a few days ago when he suggested that something "bigger than a kiss" was coming for Crowley & Aziraphale in The Finale. It appeared to be said in such a way as to seemingly be alluding to a possible love scene or a scene that really connects the dots for the remainder of the audience and makes it clear that they're lovers.
We also have some spoilers regarding the ending. One of the bits of merch that they're going to sell is also something that I believe Rob Wilkins said was in the final scene, which is a snow globe with the bookshop and The Bentley in it. This, along with the fact that the shop is also going to be selling Good Omens Christmas sweaters/jumpers, has led to increased speculation that it's a Christmassy movie-- which also could mean that it will air over the next couple of months before the holidays.
Last thing to mention that you missed was the half a day or so a couple of months ago in which a few pieces of concept art that were apparently for S3 leaked online. These didn't spread all that far before people started taking them down in an effort to protect the artist. We don't know if they were for scenes that made it into The Finale.
I'm not going to share them publicly or talk about them since the group decision was to not do that but I have seen them so if you really want to know, you can message me privately about them. They are very interesting but they also don't really give away the entire story or anything and most of them just reinforce some of the above spoilers that we already know about.
Finally, there's maybe the most surprising thing that anyone related to this series has ever said, period, which is what Rob Wilkins said at Ineffable Con a couple of days ago about the future of Crowley & Aziraphale... and that is that he doesn't see why there might not still be one beyond The Finale. 😲 I wouldn't hold my breath but it's certainly better news than we had a few months ago.
I think that's it and, hopefully, I got everything correct. If I didn't, I'm sure there's some kind person who will read this & let us know in the comments. All in all, it's looking great and in line for the best possible outcomes given everything that's happened. 💕

Good Omens season 3/finale thought of the day:
Has Aziraphale (or Crowley for that matter) actually seen The Sound of Music? Like, do they know what that story is about? Or did they hear Climb Every Mountain once and think Oh holy shit we’re supposed to listen to this for the rest of eternity?! No thanks!”
I’d love a moment in the finale where Muriel is espousing for the billionth time how much they adore The Sound of Music in front of Crowley and Aziraphale, and finally they just vomit out a summary of the film:
“Don’t you just love how Maria talks herself into being confident and ends up leaving the church and her faith and everything she knew and just gives it all up for love! And how funny it is that her and Captain Von Trapp behaved so much like enemies at first but then slowly over time they realise they’re actually in love. And then they have to run away from all the bad guys together to secretly live happily in the mountains?”
Meanwhile Crowley and Aziraphale just stare off into the distance as the dawning realisation shatters like broken glass.
Meanwhile Muriel’s still prattling on, “And they’re such total opposites, Maria is kind and caring and bubbly and always smiling and Captain Von Trapp is always mean and grumpy and stoic, but then they look at each other and they realise they’re so alike after all…”
By this point Crowley and Aziraphale have little anime steam squiggle lines coming out the top of their heads.
Then Muriel bursts out, “and that scene where they confess their love and kiss at the bandstand!…”
Crowley and Aziraphale then just collapse in a heap on top of each other.
Dorks.

Knitting is the most violent oscillation between 'oh god it's so over' to 'we are SO back' hobby I have ever experienced when it is going well you are flyingggg but if you discover a mistake (crochet with its nice easy unravelling had not prepared me for) the absolute heart surgery levels of concentration it takes to fix it. woe to twisted stitches and colourwork mistakes. I want to be one of those chill grandmas who can chat as they knit without even looking but alas I am cursed to forever a hunched goblin counting ominously under my breath and trying frantically to unwind yarn

Fluffy, lighthearted and funny (Angel and Demon)
The ones that make us smile and feel warm inside; the silly, adorable, much needed ones.
One-shots:
Taking Some Pictures Or Something, by his_infinitevariety. Rated G, 2k. P. Nov 20.
Oh, the sweetness of this fiction! Post canon (written after season 1, but might very well be set after whatever will happen in season 3), Crowley gives Aziraphale his phone to take pictures while on a day out in the South Downs. Aziraphale discovers Instagram. They are so adorable and in love, and will make you smile so much!
Thoughts From The Other Head, by Aerenii. Rated E, 913 words. P. Jun 25.
Prepare to guffaw with this seriously hilarious fic! Every line will make you laugh harder than the other! In-universe crack fic where Crowley's cock can't take it anymore and has a heart to heart (well, I say heart…) conversation with Crowley. They need to tell the angel how they feel! A gem!
Far Too Much In Love To See by imperiousphasmid. Rated T, 9k. P. Jun 19.
Oh, the fluff and the sweetness of the fiction!  Just what I needed! Crowley and Aziraphale live happily as a couple in the South Downs, but sometimes go to the bookshop for a day. Every time they go the same customer visits the bookshop. Jealous Aziraphale is simply adorable.
You've Got Kudos by curtaincall. Rated M, 4k. P. Sep 19.
Aziraphale and Crowley both write Good Omens fanfiction on Ao3. Crowley’s stories are sweet and romantic. Aziraphale’s stories are smutty and spicy. They love each other's stories without knowing who the writer is. This fiction was a treat!
My own Angel! Angel! They're At It Again!  Rated M, 5k. P. Aug 24.
It's the year 2030. The world never ended. Aziraphale and Crowley are living happily and safely together as a married couple. Everything would be well, if it wasn't that lately Aziraphale has been a bit busy. A bit distracted. Now, Crowley can't have that, can he? He seeks the advice of his girlfriends, who unwittingly give him an idea on how to liven up his marriage. A fluffy and hopefully funny way to the South Downs cottage.
Angels Don't Blow Their Own Trumpets, by shaggydogstail. Rated E, 8k. P. May 24.
This story made me cackle! Crowley poisons himself by accident (well, by trying to be cool, point is he didn't mean to) and there's only an antidote that can save him. Please DO READ the tags for this one.
You Can't Un-See A Dog, by Dannye Chase (HolyCatsAndRabbits), HolyCatsAndRabbits holycatsandrabbits. Rated T, 4k. P. Jan 20.
This was one of the highlights of my month, fiction-wise! Crowley is summoned by two humans to be offered in sacrifice. Aziraphale knocks on their door within, like, 3 minutes. I just loved this story: The light banter and the interactions between Crowley and Aziraphale are chef's kiss; the adorable domesticity of their relationship shines through in a situation that really is not domestic at all; Aziraphale is being his incredibly brilliant self; AND there's a little mystery-solving thrown in for good measure! Top marks!
Anthony J. Crowley, Retired Demon And Airbnb Superhost, by TheOldAquarian, rated G, 3k. P. Dec 19.
A selection of reviews by guests who rented Crowley's flat on Airbnb. Very funny!
My own In Vino Ludus, rated E, 3k. P. Apr 24
It's the year 2030. Crowley comes to the bookshop drunk. An as of yet canon divergent fluffy night in the life of an angel and a demon. I was struggling with a chapter for a longer fiction and needed a lighthearted, fluff-filled, angst-free break.
Hold The Phone, by theRavenMuse, rated E, 1k. P. Aug 24
Crowley listens in on Aziraphale having intimate moments by himself. But phones work two ways. Lovely and hot!
A Newsworthy Affair, by WaitingToBeBroken rated T, 1k. P. May 24.
A funny, adorable, fluffy fiction told through newspaper ads that the editors of the newspaper never authorised publishing. If you're in need of something to put a big smile on your face, this is it!
A Christmas Miracle by IneffableChocolateCheeseCake and Ngk. Rated E, 4k. P. Dec 24
A sweet, hot, and funny in-canon story where supreme archangel Gabriel grants all the angels a free miracle to use for personal purposes one Christmas day. Guess how Aziraphale chooses to use his? Words by Ngk and art by IneffableChocolateCheeseCake. Lovely, lovely story!
A Nice And Accurate Teen Magazine Quiz by fellshish, rated T, 2.7k. P. Jan 25
Fellshish strikes again with this adorable and extremely funny piece in which Crowley takes credit for teen magazines in hell. Then he browses one of the magazines and takes the soulmate quiz. Then Crowley will be Crowley. I'm sure everyone this side of Tumblr has already read it, but if for some reason you haven't yet you're in for a treat!
Just Another Day, by Enderhuntress, rated E, 2k. P. Feb 25
Such a lovely and fluffy (and hot) slice of life in the future of our favourite Ineffables. This story is what awaits them on the other side of saving the world and we're all looking forward to for them.
Reunited, by CuriousPupsicle. Rated T, 2k. P. Jun 25.
This story is so full of fluff and humour, just the way I like them! The author in the story (who’s also the author of the story -the meta-author?) is trying to write a sweet scene between Aziraphale and Crowley, but keeps getting interrupted by a demon and an angel on her shoulders who have opinions on how the story (in the story) is going. It’s a treat!
Well Earned Rewards, by Aerenii. Rated M, 2k. P. Jul 25.
I am always in awe of the humour in this author’s stories and this one doesn’t disappoint! Post-canon, established relationship fic. Aziraphale asks Crowley to help get people to Nina’s coffee shop stand at a festival and promises rewards to motivate him. Challenge accepted, Crowley naturally behaves like a 4 year old (and we love him for that!). This fic is just so full of love: their interactions, their banter, their everything screams love! It’s the husbands at their husband-est!
Multichapters:
Curse Of Attraction, by SazzyLJ, rated E,10k. P. Jun 24
Some members of Anathema’s family want to punish Aziraphale for refusing to restore Agnes’s book. The punishment is making him irresistibly attractive to anyone he comes across. I loved this story full of sweetness, great humour and spot on characterisation! It's a treat!
Pay Per View, by IneffableToreshi. Rated E, 22K. P. Feb 24.
Set after season 1. Aziraphale has an event to attend in Canada and asks Crowley to accompany him. Crowley is delighted to oblige of course, until some additional reasons for Aziraphale's trip emerge. This story features fanon!Crowley at his best! The fiction goes from tender to heartbreaking to smutty in a heartbeat and it's great.
The Bookseller And The Garden by oceantears. Rated T, 13k. P. Aug 23.
Fluff, fluff, fluff! Canon divergent fiction where Crowley is a demon stationed on earth, Aziraphale is an angel stationed on earth, but they have never met until present day. There's no end of the world in sight, only an angel and a demon falling in love and not knowing how to break it to the other that they're not human. I laughed all the way through.
Series:
Aziraphale’s Diaries by azzfell, fellshish. Total series words 10k. P. May 24.
This series is hilarious, warm and fluffy. So far there are four stories, all consisting in, yes you guessed it, Aziraphale’s diary entries. In the first story, Empirical study on the principles of snake care (rated T, 2k), Aziraphale suddenly realises he hasn’t paid enough attention to Crowley's snake-y needs. He decides he wants to make up for it. Hilarity ensues. Put your cup of tea down before day 6, trust me. In Experiments of an angel who has read entirely too much fanfic (rated T, 3k), Aziraphale discovers fanfiction shipping him and Crowley and decides he wants to test some of the tropes on the demon. Reading Crowley’s reactions through Aziraphale’s POV lens will make you feel warm inside. Drink down at day 10. In How to be a demon: a brief history of the Arrangement (rated T, 2k), Aziraphale recounts some of the temptations he’d had to do during the years, to honour the arrangement with Crowley. The last entry will make you melt. In Adventures of a mystery shopper in the bookshop (rated T, 3k), Aziraphale is worried that Crowley is getting bored, so he wants to help by giving him something to do. Peeps, for this one don’t even pick your drink up. You’ll end up spitting it all over your laptop/phone/tablet.
Stories To Brighten Up Your Day by HotCrossPigeon. Tidal series words 38k. P. Dec 21.
If you need some lighthearted, incredibly funny and extremely sweet read, this series will do what it says in the title. Your day will brighten up and you'll have a big smile on your face. If you need something to cheer you up, that's for you. Rated Teen and up.
Whickber Street Traders And Shopkeepers Association Daily Observations, by WaitingToBeBroken. Total series words 26k. P. Dec 23.
This series was incredibly funny and entertaining! The shopkeepers of Whickber street come up with their theories about the mysterious friend of the bookseller. Each story of the series is told from one of the shopkeepers' POV. The last story is Crowley setting the records straight and it only makes sense if read last, but the order you read the others doesn't matter.  The last story is also the one dearest to my heart in the whole series. Prepare to fall in love with Mutt.

New good omens fun fact/ details im obsessed with;
My dads a huge car person and he made me notice how on vintage Bentleys (like Crowley’s) not only is Bentley logo a ‘B' with angel wings but also; Bentley was owned by Rolls Royce in their early years.
Which mean they all had the little iconic angel statuettes on the front of their car.
So I went and looked , and confirmed that Crowley’s Bentley has a little angel statuettes😭😭
That demon is whipped I swear
