Wow! The sparks are really starting to fly now. Hard to hear the growling above all those crackles!

Mesmerised!
So Sweet!! Art on G’s knee. He had his first vaccination – 9 weeks old now, and then succumbed to a chin tickle! Thankfully neither he nor Albi turned blue or started to buzz, a la “Mister Fluffy Pants” in A Shocking Tail!!

In the doghouse!
Albi blue-eyes is in the doghouse again! Upset another of my geraniums on the conservatory windowsill! Soil and broken terracotta everywhere. I’m developing quite a loud shouty voice to scold him …bit like Felicity Giblet in A Shocking Tail!
‘OUUUTTTT!’

Let Us Out!
Albi blue-eyes and little Art have started to sit on the conservatory window and look outside. They are desperate to go out! Vaccinations first though!
And as you ca see, they both have gummy eyes…just bathing them at the moment and will wait and see what happens. No sneezing and both very well in themselves.
Must dash – G has just arrived home from long bike ride and is unlikely to move from the settee until bedtime. Man V food coming up!

More to do
Caught Albi and Art staring into space – hope they aren’t looking at that green mist that’s meant to flow through the air in my cat book of the moment, A Shocking Tail. Just in case, I enriched their environment by putting some logs and items to climb on in the conservatory (their room) to keep them busy. Worked like a dream – Albi lay flat out on my knee and Art on G’s through 3 episodes of Frasier!!

A Packet of Persuasion
Although Art will eat his food balls from my hand/a bowl, Albi is too scared!! He’ll only eat his if they stay inside the packet!! Little bit worried about his C02 levels in there but hey, it seems to be working so why worry? I’ll just add it to his list of peculiarities.
Pinned the photo up on the practice notice board and no one was quite sure what it was advertising! Percival Wallace (or DOCTOR Wallace as he now insists on being called, thanks to a change in our Royal College legislation which allows all British vets to use this honorary title) was quick to point out the truth. “Not Hills kitten food, not a symbionic fusion between plastic and living flesh, just a behavioural problem.’
That’s Dr Wallace’s thing you see, he’s a behaviour buff. My mother’s catchphrase of “a good slap in time saves nine” that she used to use on my three nippers (Hortensia, Hamish and Leo in case you’d forgotten) cuts no flack with him. No sireee.
Anyway, signing off now,
Dr Buzz (haha. Although the title might come in handy for booking a table at a posh restaurant, but not something to be bandied around on a  aeroplane, I would imagine, in case someone has a heart attack…).

So cute!
vine
Have a look and listen to Albi and Art lapping their milk yesterday. Aren’t they cute? I only have to call out “milky-milkies” now, and they get all excited!
The video is a bit blurred but Hortensia took it- she was still in a rage coz my sister “Bea” had called round to ask G to take a new photo for her passport, and as well as moaning that the kittens had singed the fur trim on her new cardigan (the one she’d modelled for that Korean company last week), she’d also commented that Hortensia wore her jeans far too low and one day they’d drop down and embarrass her. But as I said, what can you expect from someone whose catch phrase is “survival of the fashionable”?
Ooooooh, was recommended this book by a client last week about two kittens from the Arctic. Rather far fetched, and has a bit of a weird scene on the ice cap at the beginning, but now I’m into it, I can’t put it down! Sneaked a chapter at work last night as I was waiting for a twisted stomach to come round, and the head nurse asked what I was laughing about. Oops!

Weird!
Went to garden centre with Kat (and Hamish, my middle child, coz scout camp was cancelled). Bought a litter tray and two bags of eco litter but Albi and Art won’t set foot in either of them! They ran a mile from the recycled mushroom pulp and potato peelings (which G remarked looked like last night’s dinner) and gave the chipped elderflower stems, dried seaweed stolons and pond grit no more than a sniff. How weird is that? Luckily, the waste paper from the study’s just right for the job – and what’s more, there’s an endless supply (G says that the less I know about self-trade CFCs, spread betting and footsie predictions the better). For some reason though, it has to be white, and even a small colour photo of Jordan Speith winning The Masters was enough to put them off.
Tonight, G finally tried to take a portrait photo of the kittens – I’ve been nagging him for ages. But sadly,  his shutter jammed, and by the time it opened they’d both run off. Ah well, as everyone knows, there’s no such thing as a perfect man!
Here’s my 2 new beauties instead: lovely lobster and awesome azalea!! (No tetrapanax boo hoo.)

Visit from Kat
My best friend Kat called round today. She loves Albi and Art. She couldn’t get over how blue their eyes are, although she was a bit concerned about their huge kitten fangs (not surprisingly, I kept quiet about G’s hurtful comments on  alligators). We’ve arranged to go to the garden centre together on Friday. She wants a watering can and some bean seeds and I need a proper litter tray for the kitty poos and a bag of litter (the seed tray is too small and I’ve finished the old sack of compost). Love the pet department there, bet I’ll come back with all sorts. Plus I really fancy one of those “Pseudopanax ferox” jobs I saw down in those sub tropical gardens in Devon.
Been plotting the kittens’ growth charts. The ascending slopes of the Mattahorn spring to mind. Really funny though, coz when G saw them, he mistook them for the precipitous rise in house prices and mumbled on about it all ending in tears. I started laughing and when he realised his mistake, he stalked off into the study. No idea what a dead cat bounce is though.

An excess of crackles!
Look at the pair of them! Albi and Art are becoming quite a handful – in more ways than one. Really really crackly now. So much so that when one of Hortensia’s (my eldest) friends picked Albi up, all the hairs on her arms got singed and she screamed in his ear. If I hadn’t been there to grab him, she’d have dropped him on the floor. Anyway, hopefully smoothed things over with my expensive snail serum…don’t want to get on the wrong side of her mother (who still hasn’t forgiven Percy for putting the wrong rabbit to sleep). But what’s going on??? I’m guessing Albi and Art’s long guard hairs are soaking up static from the surroundings. But where’s it all coming from? In case it was their blanket (a cheap blend of acrylic and nylon, according to the label)  I whipped it through the wash, but it only seems to have made things worse. They won’t go near it now, and seem to be crackling worse than ever. What’s a woman to do?
G doesn’t help. First he cracked  some joke about the new fabric softener being no “comfort” to Albi and Art at all, and then he started moaning because one of them’s brushed up against the video recorder and deleted six episodes of his precious Frasier. As if!  .
Still, life has its compensations. Like my new shoes?

Albi and Art are definitely mine!
Just a quicky – got to water the garden. Where are these April showers?
Officer Short called today just as I was getting ready for work – far too early, still had my nighty on (and I know what they say about overgrown tulips at the sorting office because the postman’s told me). He came to see how the kittens were, although as soon as Albi and Art heard his loud voice they scarpered! Anyway, I was worried he was going to tell me that the man who’d owned of the caravan had turned up, and wanted the kittens back. Thankfully, though, he’s completely disappeared in his little silver van.and the whole incident’s been officially closed. Phewf! Mind you, if he ever did show his ugly face around here again, I’d be forced to tell a double white lie and say that Albi and Art had both died. I just feel sorry for their mother, having to live with him. And poor Lady Latham! The vile man burned down half the manor just before he left. As if having your husband in the lunatic asylum and a wayward daughter who takes off for months on end weren’t bad enough.
By the way: my late flowering Canadian snowdrops looking good by the front door – OS admired them as he left and said they matched Albi and Art’s eyes..

Climbing Skills
Had to swap days so not working today – my assistant Percy Wallace has gone off on a CPD course about stress management. Suppose it’ll come in slightly more useful than that one in Barbados about diarrhoea in turtles.
Albi and Art have started to practice their climbing skills on G’s legs. They love his leather slippers and I’ve asked him to donate them to the cause, but he won’t. When I asked him whether he was glad we’d taken the kittens on, he wouldn’t admit it, and just grumbled about late meals and burnt sausages. As if I can be a goddess in the kitchen when I’m looking after two kittens and three children – not to mention earning us a crust at the surgery. Speaking of which, I haven’t seen any signs of success with all his stocks and shares recently. He might well glue himself to his study chair for hours on end gazing at endless peaks and troughs on his computer screen, but the front doormat’s hardly littered with  gold ingots, now is it? And how he’s got the gall to make fun of the voice I use when I talk to Albi and Art, I don’t know. He says it’s two octaves higher than normal and makes me sound like a wispy woodland fairy.
PS – found out today that a group of kittens is called a kindle. But that particular article also said that a group of cats is a cloudier???

Here they are!!
Look at my two white fluffy kittens. Albus is on the right and Arthur on the left. They’ve come on so well since I rescued them from that caravan in the woods 4 weeks ago. Anyway, I think they’re out of danger now. Ever since I’ve been sloshing in a bit of G’s gold top, they’ve been guzzling their milk down like there’s no tomorrow. Plumping up nicely! Dashing home from the surgery every few hours to feed them has definitely been worth it, and I’ve finally managed to catch up with my ops and appointments. The children love them too, although my youngest, Leo, keeps moaning they’re too crackly. But I’ve told him, it’s because of all the electricity they took on board from the caravan during the lightening storm – especially since it was parked so near to the pylon and had that stupid aerial. That’s why Officer Short thought they’d bitten him when he tried to pull them out of the mattress: as if new born kittens had teeth!
