Watching Stargate in the wrong order is actually really funny because- now that I’m going way back to watch SG-1, I noticed that they dial the DHD so…carefully.

Sometimes the chevrons get announced, sometimes they stand there panicking but still somehow manage to double check each symbol despite crazy shit happening all around them. Carefully careful dial!

(admittedly, it’s a wormhole, you might wanna be extra sure what you’re doing)

And yet-

I watched Stargate Atlantis first; which is where Rodney McKay runs screaming to the DHD with an arrow in his ass, wildly slapping his hands on those same buttons like he was calling his mom from school- and that just makes so much more sense to me.

i feel like "feminist" anti-kink sentiment is very tail-wagging-the-dog. like male doms playing out bdsm scenes of abuse are not oppressing their female subs that's acting. you're mad at acting. you're those aliens from galaxy quest. same with fearmongering about "booktok". however an eroticized version of patriarchal dynamics being a popular kink DOES speak to the pervasiveness of sexism, bc eroticizing the oppression is a way of coping with living under it. it's women creating a fantasy world where men being menacing to them is sexy and not scary like it is irl, or where it is still scary but in the fun way like a horror movie bc you can tap out at any time by using a safe word or putting the book down. acting like this sort of kink is oppressing women is like if you assumed the thermometer controlled the weather outside. it might be depressing to look at the thermometer and see the impact of climate change, but it's not the thermometer's fault

I hate anti-vaxers now. Actively loathe them. There was a time where I had a modicum of empathy and understanding for people being distrustful of the medical establishment, even though every study has shown that vaccines are safe and effective and beneficial, I know some wounds are hard to heal. Now? If you’re seeing the people regurgitating anti-vaccine misinformation and witnessing their agendas, reading the news reports of diseases that were nearly eradicated coming back to kill children again, hearing the distress and fear from medical professionals and parents of immunocompromised children and still saying “Hmm. Fuck you.” and deciding not to vaccinate your children and yourself, there is no excuse for you. You’d like to see me dead. I’m not tiptoeing around you. You’re a horrible person and a terrible parent.

I love how community was always at the forefront of sinners

Smoke and that lil girl in the car, him trynna teach her in their small time together how to value your time and demand what you deserve

Even though Delta Slim and Sammie had that one lil spat in the beginning, Slim being so fierce in his protection of Sammie. Slim going out his way to teach Sammie the way, making sure he introduced himself. Setting him straight bout his music coming from somewhere good and not the devil like his father said. DYING for him

Bo always having the twins back and being reluctant to leave, the genuine glee he had at seeing Smoke. Grace thrown off by Stack not being with Smoke cause she knew em so well to know they should be together

Annie protecting not only Smoke but ALSO Stack when they weren’t together in her own ways.

Annie and Mary being Visible next to each other as much as possible. Mary literally screaming out in horror and snapping out of the hive mind at Annie’s death.

Stack being mad at Smoke bc it was supposed to be them against the world forever. Annie and Smoke, Mary and Stack, a family.

Annie saying “not you” when she realized it was Stack biting her because he ment so much to her, on the flip Stack spefically going after Annie so he could secure their immortal family.

That quite tense moment between Smoke and Mary after their lil argument bout Mary mother, the wordless conversation had as they both sat in silence.

The brothers putting their money where their mouth is and always giving the cash to patch up the ppl they fucked up.

Cornbread face deeply sorry explaining why he couldn’t make it to Mary’s mother funeral cause he had to make quotas.

Everyone bucking up at the thought of Remmick taking Sammie, Smoke putting himself in front of everyone. And when he faltered at the sight of his literal other half in front of him turned, everyone being there to bring him back.

Even Remmick in his deeply twisted way just wanted back to his community, everyone else be damned (with him). His want to bring everyone together in his hell on earth. His yearning to find community in another person who was like him even if he no longer had those powers (I’m going off the bases that he was a his peoples version of a Griot, which I believe is a Fili)

the scene with Smoke and the young girl in town always makes me tear up because he's not just teaching her about earning money. He's teaching her about her self worth. Her time and effort is worth more than a few cents. And she should know that and fight for that and not settle for anything less.

Seeing this serious, battle-hardened gangster smile while holding his baby girl, being with Annie for all eternity, and finally finding peace makes my heart melt.

fascinating thing about sinners is how absolutely doomed the narrative is.

like okay if sammie hadn't gone to the juke joint, remmick probably wouldn't have shown up. but then the klan would have. okay smoke took those assholes out solo, if it was him and stack maybe they could have handled it. well the juke joint would have shut down in a month because no one had any real fucking money because of the sharecropping scrip. not to mention two seperate mobs are on their way to fuck the twins up (what do you MEAN you robbed al capone??). okay maybe they covered their tracks, well they're still in the fucking jim crow south and stack and mary have a cool 35 years until loving v virginia so best case scenario is he's broke and watching the love of his life from afar until he's 70. plus annie implied the twins were on borrowed time anyway since she'd been quietly protecting them the whole time they were gone.

idk it both adds to the horror that there was no way out and just solidifies sammie saying it was the best day of his life, like that one little perfect moment was all they were going to get anyway
