Even when his attention is elsewhere, his body & heart are still drawn towards her.
(The inward turn, the differences in the holds, the protective stance; okay we see you Daryl)

Look, look, look, I freaking loved the Caryl hug but what is really wrecking me is the moment leading to it.
Like, okay I’m using someone else’s gifs to illustrate my point sorry
Look, u can’t tell there but u know Glenn was the first one through the door, right? But by the time the camera cuts off and he is hugging Maggie Daryl is inside already like you bet he rushed in as soon as the door was open, looking for Carol
And does this thing where he surrounds her, putting himself in the guns way and moving her so gently but also if you look carefully he’s bending down to her eye-level and while he makes the questions he’s looking so hard into her face, like he’s taking in every detail making sure she’s okay and you can just see the weight on his shoulders but omg look at his hand, he is brushing her shoulder, touching her as if to make sure she’s really there and the take is a bit far away but his look is the same from the forest reunion
And then he straightens up and you can see the moment relief floods him so much, the moment he can breathe again and he’s like ok ok she’s good she’s safe she’s alive, and he keeps touching her, he brushes her shoulder, fixes her coat, like he can’t bring himself to lose that contact between them and when he finally does, he drop his hand so abruptly, like he had to force himself to do it
And it doesn’t even last for two seconds because he immediately realizes the way Carol drops her gaze, and he knows Carol and he knows she’s tough and she acts tough even when she’s hurting… so when she averts his eyes so he won’t see how not okay she is he doesn’t let it slide, he brings his hand —same hand he just forced himself to drop— right back up to touch her face
And he touches her so gently again you can see the small tremble of his thumb, like he’s about to brush it over her lips and his fingers are barely touching her skin but god he is so worried
and then of course we have Carol’s admission and the hug and the head-cradling but all this oh god all this tenderness is what I live for tbh and this is what makes the ship, beyond hugs and (hopefully soon) kisses, you can see it in every single detail here.

“Good boy…” she whispers against his sweaty forehead, her nimble fingers gently releasing Eddie’s reddened wrists from the handcuffs, “‘love you so much.”

“She had to feel safe enough with him to go back to his trailer. And he’s a pretty intimidating guy when you first meet him, so I think it made sense for there to be some romantic intrigue there. And to also spark Mason’s character Jason’s suspicion. It felt like the right way to go there, I think.” - Joseph Quinn (x)
“We definitely went into filming that scene with the intention of there being flirtation because she goes home with him at the end of the day. She wouldn’t just go home with someone who doesn’t make her feel comfortable and I think that they both had a little…like a baby crush. Mutual.” - Grace Van Dien (x)
“I think he might have done! I think kind of…yes, I think he did [have a crush on Chrissy]. I think, playing with archetypes, especially in American high school, I don’t think you’d ever put those two together. But they get to know each other more in episode one and there’s kind of potential there, and then something horrible happens. I think the concert, for him, was more about avenging her as a person rather than anything romantic but I think there could have been the potential for a liaison of some kind.” - Joseph Quinn (x)
