So! I decided that this year I want to get better about practicing my backgrounds, because I hate backgrounds and never draw them if I can get away with it. XD In service of this goal, I enlisted the help of my friends Tiger and Rabbit, who will take turns with me each month in choosing a scene from one of the many collaborative stories we've written together for me to draw. And I have to give it a detailed background.

For the first contribution to this project, Tiger chose a scene from one of the recent sessions of the Temphere campaign- our party's ranger, Anther, had spent um… a lot of turns grappled by a grick thanks to some bad rolls both to attack and to break the grapple. Cree, who'd been distracted by another Grick for most of the fight, turned her attention to Anther and used the spell Heat Metal to turn Anther's rapier white-hot; a side-effect of this spell is that any creature holding the object has to make a constitution save or drop it. Anther chose to fail the save, but because the grick was holding her and also in contact with the rapier, it had to roll CON and failed. This was a pretty funny scenario, not least of which because in our other campaign Rabbit has utilized a similar damaging spell, thorn whip, to break allies out of grapple. XD

The wolf in the background is an NPC we were escorting at the time, Ryth, who as a fun aside was kicking absolute ass during the fight thanks to some bonkers good rolls, such to the point that we kept joking he was channeling Kiba from Wolf's Rain and had "the power of god and anime on his side."

Next month is my birthday, so it's my turn to pick the scene!

Inktober Day 11: Wander

Just a night walk through the snow. What might Anther do? Will she hunt some game? Will she break in somewhere and rob someone? Or will she just enjoy the quiet?

I wanted to draw a younger-ish Anther today, back in Selvonrune, before she left. It was fun to imagine her in a different outfit that still feels like her.

For those who don't follow my main blog, I am participating in Art Fight again this year! For my first piece I attack fellow Temphere campaign player with this depiction of an incredibly fun solo scene for Anther. She snuck out of town in the middle of the night to find traps being laid by the monster hunters that were after our ward, a wolf-were called Vandoryth.

Cree got some new armor last session! Her full warlock outfit update is still pending (she needs some time to settle into the idea of BEING a warlock before she goes and completely changes her look over it, lol) but this is still a fun visual reflection of her progression. And the higher AC is a blessing!!!

Inktober Day 30: Thorn

Anther keeping her criminal contact up to date. In her game, these thorns (which we now know are seeds) are from these monster plants that are attacking people and causing planar bleeds. Anyway, her contact gave her some good info about them, so she has to give him good info about them.

The party recently acquired a baby brass guard drake named Xolo (pronounced "show-low"). In the most recent session Cree was training and bonding with Xolo. During this scene a lot of recent upheavals caught up with her, resulting in this sweet/sad moment.

Happy Birthday to The Wild Cards!

The campaign and the party turns four years old on September 9th! From what I have learned since I started playing D&D, that is a very long time. And as celebration this year, I drew some good moments from each of the party members!

Bu I certainly could not have done this ago. About a month ago, @shinkoscribbles DMed me and mentioned how cool it’d be if every character got a cool character moment drawing. And since that would have been a lot of work on my end, they offered to do the sketching and the lineart. Major thanks to Shinko, they are amazing, they did so awesome, could not have done this without them.

So Cree recently multi-classed into Warlock! I'm hella excited about it, this is going to be a lot of fun both in meta and in story!

Speaking of in-story, Cree forgot about the fact that in Temphere canon warlocks tend to get some sort of very visible, very obvious "mark" from their patron. Like Medea and Kindrin having very brightly colored hair from their Fey patrons. So Cree's patron, a sun spirit with rainbow powers, has made her iridescent!

She'll adjust. =)

It’s about time I drew Anther with some new things she now has at her disposal.

-She now has a trident. We kinda killed a sahuagin baron and the party picked it off of him. Anther is the only one who’s proficient in tridents, so she has it now. (I think we were planning on selling it at first, but it’s actually a really cool trident.)

-Cape of the Montebank. Lets the user cast Dimension Door and when that happens, they leave behind and appear in a cloud of smoke. Perfect for ominous appearances and getaways. After making a pretty penny off of some manticore parts, she bought it because come on, it just makes sense for her.

-Anther has yet to officially get this in game, but she will be getting the spell Pass Without Trace. Because what other spell would you get as a hunter and a thief??? Anther’s eyes will change colors depending on what spell she casts, and with Pass Without Trace, I imagine they’d turn a dark gray color.

Anther contacted her criminal contact in an attempt to gather more information on what’s happening with the plants and the deep scion stuff. And Fracture backstory stuff, but that’s between Anther and Fracture. Lots of good info. Lots of good, concerning info, like a plant monster got so nasty a dragon had to burn it down and there is zero word about a deep scion doing stuff, especially because the deep scion is not. subtle.

Oh, Anther’s contact is going to get one hell of a letter back.

Christmas gift art for my Temphere campaign!

This art style is based on the Fire Emblem: Heroes mobile game - yeeeears ago, I made some art in this style of my knight squad characters, and thought it’d be fun to give it a go again! I definitely veered from the precise style, everyone’s a lot longer-limbed, but I think it worked out!
