Ahmed himself was hurt by Israeli occupation before he was even born. He has a lifelong health condition that effects his bones and teeth, all because his mother was exposed to a dangerous gas weapon while pregnant.

Ahmed can't get the specialized medical treatment he needs in Gaza because of the war, but he also can't get basic necessities like food, water, or shelter, and neither can his family.

it's okay, ulysses ogre. you can back up and try dubliners, it's a short story collection with much more straightforward prose, you can dive deep on one piece at a time, and once you've toyed around with that then I'm sure you'll have an easier time with ulysses. besides, I had an irish lit professor who'd been studying finnegans wake for twenty years and she said she still didn't really know what was going on in it. ulysses ogre, what really matters is if you are enjoying your time with literature and feel like you are gaining something, not whether you reach the "correct" conclusions. there's no need to try and force yourself through something if you feel like you aren't on an even enough plane with the text to reap any of its rewards.

something that drives me insane on a relatively regular basis as a body jewelry understander is talking to people who have sensitive skin who are like "oh well I just can't wear any earrings without my ears getting inflamed" and I say "well what have you tried" and they say "well I've tried sterling silver and I've tried gold..." and it's like. ok. I don't know how gold and sterling somehow got spun by the jewelry industry as being especially good for sensitive skin but whenever I'm like "well have you tried implant grade titanium" they're always like "no....... but I've tried sterling silver... and it didn't work ..." like. I don't know how this narrative about sterling silver somehow got so strong but when they put pins in your fucking legs when you snap your leg in half are those pins made of sterling silver or are they made of implant grade titanium or surgical steel????????? If you've ever appreciated my posts about LGBTQ issues, this Pride month, as a favor to me, please do something to help my friend Fadel ( @fadel-dani ).

Fadel is multiply disabled. He has thalassemia, a blood disorder, which leaves him incredibly fatigued. The medication he needs costs €400 every month. He has also been in a very serious accident that left his leg paralyzed for a long time, and now he walks with great difficulty.

Over 550 days ago, Fadel's family home was bombed and he was left with iron shrapnel embedded in his body. The medical infrastructure in Gaza has been decimated and he needs to get to a better-resourced hospital to get them surgically removed safely.

He cannot sleep at night because any movement while asleep causes the shrapnel in his body to move, and causes extremely severe pain. He suffers from PTSD, chronic pain, and insomnia from the bombing.

The people of Gaza, Fadel's family included, are going through a severe famine now. They struggle to afford food, let alone his medication. He urgently needs to raise funds for food, medication, travel costs to get to a hospital who can perform surgery, and ultimately for his family to escape this genocide.

Fadel has spent his very limited energy building relationships with strangers in the hopes that enough of us can help him to raise the money he needs. His campaign is vetted by @gazavetters list (#197), @90-ghost, and @a-shade-of-blue.
